27 Years After: Check Out The Armored Mercedes S-Class Limousine Used By Sani Abacha As Official Car

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nvn97eBTLQk?si=AqJzXyYcNRM9PGWP

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class now fitted with “NKPUME AZA OKUU” number plate was reportedly sold, following the death of Abacha.
On the outside, the V12-powered armored S-Class is decked with flag poles where the Nigerian and military flags used to be.

Inside the armored Mercedes-Benz S600 limousine, the rear features four facing back seats for rear-seat passengers. There doesn’t appear to be any doubt about the authenticity of the claim about who used to roll in this particular S-Class limousine.

It’s been 27 since the passing of General Sani Abacha, a Nigerian military dictator and Statesman, who ruled Nigeria with an iron-fist from 17 November 1993 until his death in 8 June 1998.

As Car guys, Autojosh stumbled into a video on Creative Lord TV YouTube channel, where an armored Mercedes-Benz S-Class limousine reportedly used by Abacha during his tenure was one of the highlight of a recent interview.

While many believed that this ride should be on display in a National Museum, the interviewee claimed the armored Mercedes-Benz S-Class fitted with “NKPUME AZA OKUU” number plate was sold to his brother, following the death of Abacha.

Thanks to the video tour of the exterior and interior seen by Autojosh, there doesn’t appear to be any doubt about the authenticity of his claims about who used to roll in this particular Mercedes-Benz S-Class limousine.

On the outside, the V12-powered armored S-Class is decked with flag poles for official occasions – where the Nigerian and military flags used to be, while the inside features four rear facing back seats for rear-seat passengers.

Specially created for Abacha, the limousine is based on Mercedes-Benz W140, also known as the S-Class, produced from 1991 to 1998. While available with a choice of V8 and V12 engines, this particular range-topping S600 is fitted with a 6.0-liter V12.

This car like the Mercedes-Benz car the late General Murtala Ramat Mohammed and other cars used by previous presidents, ought to be preserved as national monuments.

There once lived a man named Edward Hargrave, a billionaire magnate who owned the tallest buildings, fastest cars, and rarest art. His name echoed through boardrooms and charity galas alike. Newspapers praised his empire; the world envied his wealth. But beneath the tailored suits and diamond-studded watches, Edward was a man chasing shadows.

Edward grew up poor, in a crumbling two-bedroom flat with a mother who scrubbed floors and a father who died too young. He made himself a vow as a boy: “I will never be poor again.” And he kept that vow.

By 35, Edward owned five companies. By 50, he owned nations’ worth of land. He married a beautiful woman named Clara, but their love soon became another transaction. Their son, Jeremy, was raised by nannies in golden cages, gifted with everything—except time with his father.

Edward's 60th birthday was a grand affair—celebrities, fireworks, music flown in from Milan. Yet when he looked out from his skyscraper balcony that night, champagne in hand, he felt... nothing. A strange emptiness began to stir. He looked around at the room full of people he barely knew, all laughing too loud, praising him too much.

That night, he sat alone in his study, staring at his reflection in the black glass window.

“Vanity,” he muttered. “It’s all vanity.”

He tried to rekindle love with Clara. She had long since left, remarried, and found peace.

He tried bonding with Jeremy, but his son was distant, cold. “You were never there for me,” Jeremy said. “Now I don’t need you.”

Edward donated to orphanages. He built hospitals. He paid for scholarships. Yet it wasn’t out of love—it was guilt. He began to wonder if anyone truly loved him, or just the legend he’d become.

One winter morning, Edward collapsed in his marble bathroom. Heart failure.

He woke up in a hospital, surrounded by machines—not people. No visitors. No family. Just blinking lights and beeping sounds. For once, the silence was deafening.

Days later, a nurse found him weeping.

"I spent my life building an empire," he said quietly, "but I never built a home."

She didn't know what to say. She simply held his hand.

When Edward died, his funeral was lavish. Politicians came. CEOs. Cameras flashed. Speeches were given. But Jeremy didn't attend. Clara sent flowers, nothing more.

That night, the housekeepers packed away his belongings—closets of designer suits, unopened gifts, shelves of rare books no one had ever read.

A cleaner paused by the fireplace where Edward’s portrait hung, eyes proud, suit perfect. She shook her head and whispered:

“Vanity upon vanity. All is vanity.”

And just like that, the richest man in the city became the loneliest memory in a golden tomb.

---

Moral:
You can possess the world, yet have nothing.
True wealth is measured not by what you own, but by who holds your hand when everything else fades.

"If that limo could talk, it would probably ask for retirement benefits — it has seen more drama than the whole cabinet!"

1993-1998. He ruled for six years. He succeeded Ernest Shonekan who was the head of the Interim National Government. Gen Abdulsam Abubakar succeeded Gen Abacha in 1998 after Abacha died.

V-12 engine?
That's going to be a massive fuel guzzler, especially for a Mercedes-Benz
It would cost an arm to comfortably drive this car even for a week.

No. He was an ignominious and shameful leader and such leaders do not deserve to be so memorialized. So it should be crushed in a scrap yard.

No past Nigerian governments either military or civilian rule comes close to APC when it comes to a government being an Absolute Disaster.

My Family had it good during Abacha's time. My pman, An average young man with an average Job bought a land in Lagos in an area with good landscape and good layout and fully developed today with serenity. We moved into our newly built house the year Abacha died.

How many TOP WORKING CLASS, Even with their Fraudulent Runs and All can buy land in the heart of Lagos today?

No bring Ibeju-Lekki come my side because all those ones na Ogun State😂
