Sure! No doubt about that your partner will have influence on your choice of things not only food.

I like eating Amala but she not good in preparing it, she will rather prepare Semo and Eba.

Meat is an important nutrient.Couples however must talk about a better nutrition to cook in the house.Nigerian married couples are generally fat or overweight which means most are feeding themselves garbage/poison as food. When you find your husband/wife with fat belly,it means she is not feeding the right food. Also, many sit too much than walk/jog.Market women sit all day long in the market.Men sit in the office or in the shops.Others sit in their cars hence the slump and die we witness every day in our country.

Funnily, I hate burning food. I cook only when I know I have the time. It's not about the food burning but the house burning

I'm the one who has influenced her.
Now she loves starch and banga soup with fresh fish served in earthen wares (clay soup bowl).

I don't know if this should be here or in the family section.

About 5 years into the marriage, my wife been able to influence me into not being a fan of meat 🍖🥓 generally. The last time I had meat was around 3 years ago.

This is basically because my wife does not like meat, she has been able to get me so much in love with fish 🐟🐠.

Na you influence your partner abi na the other way round?

Yes, she has greatly, there are some food I don't eat, she has been able to influence me to eat them, but she has refused to eat my own food, which is egg and sardine, she said the smell of the sardine always makes her vomit...

So most times I only eat it when she's not at home or if I've to, she wont enter into the kitchen for that day, until the smell and all the plates I used is thoroughly washed 😆 🤣 😂
Thought I'm the only one irritated by the smell of sardine, I've only tested that stuff once and vomited out my intestines

I used to think it was only me the smell of sardine that made me want to vomit — until I came across this comment 😂. Now I’m seeing my long distance family 😩.

Of course na,

she is now mummy, anything she cooks, na him I go chop.

But she knows what I like and doesn't go overboard
The influence no be small, I have even started calling her Mummy with the children instead of baby or darling like before.
She controls what we eat and even wear to go out, but that doesn't imply I am not the head of the home.

Plenty times. Once you get married, make accommodations and concessions, the marriage go last. Some foods i have stopped eating because my wife does not like it. I have been married for 25 years and i still dey study her matter. Times change and people do too.
Re: Has Your Partner Influenced Your Choice Of Food? by greypencils:
My wife tried. I still stayed true to my non-eating of non-Yoruba soups. You married me for me, not for my ability to comply to eating your tribal soup.

She no dey pound yam. Ba wahala, I get restaurant wey I dey order am. She no dey make amala, no wahala, I go chop am for house when I go visit my mama. But that your tribal food, Goliath go kill David first before I go chop am.

She wanted me to like crayfish! Indeed! I had better not see cray not to talkless of fish in my food. She started grinding it make I no see am.

We are both pepper lovers so we are good on that. Oil? She no dey put oil for food. I go to the pot, scoop mine out and remix mine with oil.

She also tried to stop my eating while lying down on my stomach. Well, I don't do that in front of her any longer. I do it behind her. Food simply tastes better when you eat while lying on your stomach.
