You are crashing out.

I don't remember anything from 2022 cos it's not that serious but you obviously do since Obi is your religion

Are shares an asset?

The system is designed to produce the absolute worst who will never have the best interest of the country at heart or make it a priority. How can you spend all that money bribing and buying delegates and expect to put the country first or the delegates to speak truth to you? Impossible
So, you really believe Peter Obi will put you first.... grin

If you can't remember that's fine.
I attached the link for you to remember old man.
Go through them and get your answers.. Okay?
If you have anymore questions, still refer back to the link🤝
I don't see any link and if I do, it would be regurgitating the same büllshit of how shares in a company is not an asset

Same way Obi does know the definition of an asset is the same way he did not know that you can pay contractors by bank transfer back in the 2000s when he was caught transporting N250m of Anambra Govt cash in Jeeps to his private company in Lagos and claimed it was for payment of Anambra state contractor. Of course that was just the one time he was unfortunate to get caught from a trip they used to make every month end with Anambra security votes to deposit in Obis company in Lagos.

Look, Obi is not the dirtiest politician but the Obidients cult attempt to paint him as a Saint is an insult to intelligence, and their attacks on anyone who points out the obvious is sickening. That's how you were almost abusing KingTom an Obi supporter in your latest fit of Obi rabïes, just for telling it as it was.

Obi must be canonised. The same Obi that handpicked Obiano his schoolmate and Fidelity Bank colleague for decades, the same Obi that chose to swim with the utterly and sickeningly corrupt Atiku on ticket. Some of us were not born yesterday. Supporting Obi does not mean you should renovate the whole place with lies. Obi was an unremarkable, slightly underperforming Governor who stole like every other Governor. You can find posts from me in 2011 or so here in Nairaland analysing the fraud in some of his contracts.

The difference between what I am going to tell you now (which I said before) is implementation. Even the worse person who didn't come to Nigeria before and who doesn't know anything is still implementing what you people have been writing for 8 years, things would have changed.

I was telling them a story of General Abacha, how we were almost arrested for not paying duty. The port was congested, everything was. . . (under Abacha you clear goods faster than you clear it today).

So we were supposed to be under arrest because they said that we didn't pay duty. We didn't do anything. So we went to Abuja to see Abacha. We were 100, they said they were going to lock us up, so only 30 agreed to see him.

And when they said we should speak, I started talking. Halfway the man banged his table and said "Call Ali" (the minister) "From today, you see this boy who is talking"? (Which is me) "Chairman Tin Can".

That's how I got involved in the ports

Ask grok instead of spamming us with this old story. Personally escorting cash to personally pay contractors is standard operating procedure. That is how our procurement department paid for vehicles as well. in fact the MD personally escorted the bullion van

maybe you need grok to tell you that this is the laziest , low thinkinest form of money laundering - carrying raw cash to your business

This is how obi will fix Nigeria. He will also personally deliver food and arms and alawee to soldiers up north.

I opened the loan section one day and looked at the interest rates, omo it was bloody, interests were as high as 16.8% I think the lowest was about 9% and that's when you spread the loan tenure for a longer period say 6 months, meaning if you borrow 100k you'll pay back 160k

Their loans are not cheap at all; they only lure unsuspecting people into those loans making them believe they offer the best non-collaterized loan.

You are missing the point.

The guy in the screenshot is complaining that they are always calling and disturbing him to come and apply for their loan. I am coroborating his point by pointing out I see their ads everywhere online asking people to come and apply for loans which they will jack up interest rates midway then start disturbing the debtor and his contacts.

You must have seen their ads too on their app if indeed you use Opay

That's the last hope of the common man, and since there's no collateral only reputation damage in the long run, most of them feel the immediate solution is better than the latter reputation damage

I did not listen closely to most of those long interviews and speeches made by the candidates but i seem to recall an interview in which he was trying to explain the rationale behind easy credit and how it would help in curtailing fraud, embezzlement, and misappropriation of funds.

I am not sure if it was during campaign season or from an earlier interview he gave.

Porsche came to our office one day and invited us for breakfast and to test drive some of their cars. Without credit facilities they would not even waste their time with us. That thing made sense when Tinubu mentioned it.

Baba, this is why I said they are preying on people's ignorance and make it seem like they are the cheapest out there despite the luggage of their unorthodox loan recovery system.

Stanbic IBTC bank have a non-collaterized loan product they sell called "Eazi Cash". Their interest rate is 4% monthly compared to Opay's 6% exmaple u gave up there. I have not heard of Stanbic IBTC posting obituaries of defaulters or harassing mutual friends of their debtors with calls.

And the uncollateralized, easy-to-get loans based on some proprietary algorithm? Turns out, it was just lending 10-20k to everyone and tracking repayment patterns.

From 2019 to 2025, the most significant shift isn’t just how much better neobanks have become, it’s how much less naive they are.

The retail loans that were supposed to become mainstream once we sprinkled technology haven’t really played out. Without deterrents to discourage defaulting on loans, it turns out that very few people are credit-worthy. What’s the worst that can happen if you don’t repay a loan in Nigeria?

And if you’re a big man, it’s just a small matter of being named as a debtor by AMCON. You’re a Nigerian big man, what’s a little shame?

Once your customer misses the first payment, that loan is gone,” the CEO of a digital lender told me over the weekend. His company has delivered billions in profits for three consecutive years, yet he admits he has learned expensive lessons along the way.
And in a week where two Nigerian commercial banks delivered N1 Trillion in FY profits, he believes fintechs shouldn't be as obsessed with acquiring millions of customers.

“Be conservative and focus on getting your money back. Realizing revenue can be a lot of accounting and creativity, but loan loss provisions are real money that will probably never come back.”

Here’s an excerpt from a news article:

“Analysis of the 10 banks’ financial results showed that cumulatively, their NPLs went up by 65% from N964.36 billion in 2022 to N1.6 trillion in 2023. Consequently, the lenders wrote off multi-billion naira non-performing loans to de-risk their balance sheet and improve asset quality.”

These unpaid loans have real consequences. We saw Heritage Bank’s banking licence revoked after 90% of its N700 billion loan book was considered lost or doubtful. We saw a fintech report N60 billion in loan loss provisions just a few weeks ago and Decagon did an about-turn from its model because people refused to pay back loans. NPLs are not just figures on a spreadsheet.

When traditional banks build these seemingly arbitrary hurdles, they’re just implementing risk management tools to keep the system sustainable.

If you still think no one is doing retail lending because they don’t care, start a fintech and fill the market gap. As one of my favorite Substack says, Fintech is easy.

Make of that what you will.

The United States Mission in Nigeria has announced that all applicants for F, M, and J nonimmigrant visas must now adjust their social media account’s privacy settings to “public.”

F, M, and J visas are nonimmigrant visa categories issued by the US government for individuals coming to the country for educational and exchange purposes.

The mission stated that applicants in those categories must now set their personal social media profiles to public, as part of a new visa requirement.

The development was announced via the United States Diplomatic Mission Nigeria’s official X page on Monday, noting the update was effective immediately.

“Effective immediately, all individuals applying for an F, M, or J nonimmigrant visa are requested to adjust the privacy settings on all of their personal social media accounts to ‘public,’” the post read.

According to the post, the change is meant to complement vetting efforts aimed at determining applicants’ identities and their admissibility to the United States.

“We use all available information in our visa screening and vetting to identify visa applicants who are inadmissible to the United States, including those who pose a threat to US national security,” the post said.

The US, while earlier announcing the plan for the update in June, maintained that its visa “is a privilege, not a right.”

On June 18, 2025, the US Department of State published on its website that under the new guidance, “we will conduct a comprehensive and thorough vetting, including online presence, of all student and exchange visitor applicants in the F, M, and J nonimmigrant classifications.”

“To facilitate this vetting, all applicants for F, M, and J nonimmigrant visas will be instructed to adjust the privacy settings on all of their social media profiles to ‘public.’”

The statement added, “Every visa adjudication is a national security decision.

“The United States must be vigilant during the visa-issuance process to ensure that those applying for admission into the United States do not intend to harm Americans and our national interests and that all applicants credibly establish their eligibility for the visa sought, including that they intend to engage in activities consistent with the terms for their admission.”

"Dangerous Extremist Propaganda": How A Bald JD Vance Meme Got Tourist Banned From US
A 21-year-old Norwegian tourist called Mads Mikkelsen was detained by the US Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) at Newark Airport for five hours. Mikkelson claims it was because of a doctored photo of US Vice President JD Vance.
A 21-year-old Norwegian tourist called Mads Mikkelsen was detained by the US Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) at Newark Airport for five hours. Mikkelson claims it was because of a doctored photo of US Vice President JD Vance.

After he returned to Norway, Mikkelsen spoke to a local newspaper Nordlys and stated that the USCBP agents threatened to slap a $5,000 fine on him if he did not unlock his phone and let them scroll through the photos. In his photo gallery, the agents discovered a photoshopped picture of JD Vance with a bald, egg-shaped head on his phone.

Mikkelsen told the BBC, "The agent seemed to be very antagonised by the image. He asked me why I had it saved on my phone." He went on to explain to the agent that it was just a meme, a piece of comedy. The agent responded by saying, "It's very clearly a piece of dangerous extremist propaganda".

However, he also said that he told agents about legally consuming cannabis in Germany and New Mexico, in places where it was legal to do so, after they extensively questioned him about drug smuggling, terrorism and extremism. He was also taken to a guarded room and asked to surrender his shoes, phone and backpack.

US law does state that an individual can be turned away for drug use even if they have not been convicted of a crime.

Later, USCBP clarified in a post on X that Mikkelsen was denied entry because of his admitted drug use. "Fact Check: FALSE," they posted, "Mads Mikkelsen was not denied entry for any memes or political reasons, it was for his admitted drug use." The Department of Homeland Security has also publicly denied that Mikkelsen was denied entry because of the meme.

Mikkelsen said that the entire episode had been traumatic because of strip-searches, luggage ransacking, fingerprinting, blood sampling and falsified travel records. His Norwegian passport had also been mistakenly labelled as "Spanish".

The paperwork he was given by US immigration officials, mentions another reason for his removal. Officials thought he may be attempting to seek unauthorised employment in the US.

Mikkelsen said, "I would not return while the current government is in power."

US Customs and Border Protection say that about one million individuals enter the United States every day, and of those people, only less than 0.01 per cent of travellers have their devices searched.
this went full streisand
