Immediate past National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Ralph Nwosu, has said that the formation of the opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general election is not targeted at President Bola Tinubu.

He stated that the political alignment ahead of the 2027 elections is against the worsening culture of bad governance under the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Nwosu, who stated this when he appeared as a guest on Arise Television also said that the new coalition adopted the ADC as its political platform to offer Nigerians an alternative to the current administration, which he said has presided over a period of despair, hunger and economic stagnation.

“The coalition is not only targeted at Tinubu. Tinubu as a person, we don’t have any problem with him, but with the administration of the country.

“The way APC has gone so far, no Nigerian, not just the people in politics, no Nigerian is happy,” he said

According to him, the growing hardship across the country and the disconnect between citizens and those in power had become too severe to ignore.

The ex-ADC chair also took a swipe at the APC-led government for operating what he called a palliative economy, in which government relief packages fail to address systemic poverty, while political elites live in opulence.

He also raised concerns about the government’s infrastructure priorities, citing the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project, which has drawn criticism over its cost and feasibility.

Nwosu further explained that the coalition was formed out of the need to reclaim the promise of democracy, and not to advance personal ambitions.

He argued that respected political leaders of Nigeria’s past would have lent their support to the coalition if they were alive today.

“If Abiola was alive today, he would join the coalition. If Shehu Musa Yar’Adua was alive today, he would join the coalition,” he said.

its just a vision problem, Obi is not a loser if he is part of the revolution that kicks Tinubu/apc back 2 hæll
lets face the reality, with our local pecularity Obi cant win even if he flies a new party or contest alone ...
For people who dont believe local pecularity are huge factors or zoning exist ... seein Peter Obi and others promising 1 term is enough attestation.

To kick out Tinubu ADC must present a candidate that posses just one term from south as north will support what wont jeopardize there 2031 vision

I don't want to factor the power of incumbency or free, fair and transparent election....he cannot. Elections are won, lost or rigged in the most rural parts of the Country especially up-North, he doesn't have these numbers.

The bottom line for all of this is numbers.

Numbers they say, don't lie. Obi didn't win any of NW or NE, not even 25%, and almost all of the votes are in one of those two regions. I like the way you are calling names I wish you have this kind of names that will protect votes against the likes of Wike & Akpabio in the South.

See, one of my happiness with the coalition is that it has thrown up men in virtually all the states who will serve as the antidote to Tinubu’s “Rivers Template.”

You just asked about Wike (Rivers). Now, do you think that with an Amaechi in Rivers, Wike can pull off what he did in 2023 again?

Or you think with an Aregbesola in Lagos teaming up with other disgruntled elements, Lagos votes can’t be protected?

Again, remember that it’s still the early days of the coalition. With time more faces will show up across all the states including the south.

I don’t need to remind you that we don’t need anybody to protect our votes in the Southeast, do I?
