ebere272:What’s the issue of not getting admission with them, they should tell you to provide necessary supporting documentation in order to gain admission |

Drhay:Hello Drhay! From your post, I assume you are a potential MSc by Research or PhD candidate. The current financial situation in Universities these days is quite unfortunate, but I believe you can secure one. From the email, your potential supervisor has no grant of his own that can cover your tuition and stipend (supervisors do sometimes have, but not usual in Australia, unlike the US or Canada). Scholarships usually go through the university, faculty, college or projects (which is when a supervisor can offer scholarship). He was trying to explain that. What I will suggest is combing through the university scholarship page, check their requirements to see how you stand, discuss with your potential supervisor that you'd like to apply to x, y and/or z scholarship(s), if he's willing to take you (at least, that's how it works in the Australian big-wig universities like Sydney, Queensland, Melbourne, UNSW, etc). Once you have that assurance, you can apply for the admission and all scholarships applicable to you. Also, it'd be best to let's know the name of the institution you are trying to get into, and it'd also do you good to look more into other universities. I wish you all the best. |

I attach I believe u can also try other schs. Make sure u sent cold emails to at least 4/5 supervisors in each Uni of similar research area, try to send them a reminder once weekly and another follow up after 6 days. Most do hav a lot of work and often forget to read emails. U hav a good research field and I believe u will get supervisor easily. Try up to 10 to 15 Uni and make ur email content very short. Gud luck |

Hi guys. My cousin in Korea with masters and now doing PhD in Korea also is considering applying for another masters by research in Aussie. What are the chances of him getting the research funding and visa? |
| Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Kdamilola(m): 12:39am On Jul 12, 2025 |
chaiks:It might be quite difficult for your brother to get a scholarship since he already has an MSc (most scholarships state that to secure a scholarship, "you must not be applying for a degree you already have". Also, justifying why he wants to do a second masters will be really difficult when applying for visa. He could want to "be silent" on the MSc degree, but it's highly likely that they will find out and that will be worse (could lead to automatic refusal based on false information, and perhaps a 5 year ban). However, if he's paying, securing an admission wouldn't be a problem, but convincing the DHA might still be a herculean task when applying for visa. I think his best bet is to pursue a PhD in Australia since he does not currently hold a PhD degree (he's only enrolled in one). That's just my opinion anyway. He can do more findings then make a decision. Wishing him all the best! |

I have a quick question, can an in-law sponsor someone for schooling in Australia? If so, how does the process work? The in-law is financially capable and willing to help. Thanks in advance for any guidance! |
