Northern Protesters In Kano Urge Peter Obi To Run In 2027 Amid Economic Hardship by Chidibe212(op): 12:07pm On Jul 08, 2025
On Monday, July 7, 2025, residents of Kano State staged a peaceful protest, calling on former presidential candidate Peter Obi to contest the 2027 Nigerian presidential election. The demonstrators expressed deep frustration over the acute economic hardship and rising hunger they attribute to the administration of President Bola Tinubu, who assumed office in May 2023.

Carrying banners and placards, the protesters voiced their discontent with the escalating cost-of-living crisis, which they claim has worsened under the current government. Nigeria has been facing its most severe economic challenges in nearly three decades, marked by soaring inflation, widespread poverty, and growing public discontent amid a high rate of unemployment. The Tinubu administration, once heralded for its promise of renewed hope, has faced criticism for its handling of economic policies, which many argue have exacerbated hardship across the country.

The protest in Kano reflects broader national frustration, as citizens grapple with the effects of inflation and stagnant economic growth. Demonstrators highlighted the urgent need for a policy shift to address the systemic issues driving poverty and unrest. The call for Obi, a prominent opposition figure, to run in 2027 underscores the public’s search for alternative leadership to tackle Nigeria’s deepening economic woes.

This demonstration comes amid a broader wave of public dissatisfaction, with protests emerging as a response to perceived government inaction. Authorities have yet to comment on the Kano protest, but the event signals growing public demand for accountability and effective governance as Nigeria navigates a critical juncture in its economic and political landscape.

Peter Obi becoming president would be the best thing that ever happened to this country in recent times.

He's so passionate about a working country and doesn't have the elitist leadership mindset even though he's a billionaire.

How much were they paid to put up that show and how does the few count decide for the entire North.

These people still do not know the force they are up against.

Haven’t they seen or heard about the political prowess of His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR).

If in 2025, we still have class of people who believe His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) won’t win the 2027 election, then we have big mental epidemic that needs to be urgently addressed.

Tinubu is the worst president that Nigeria ever had

For buhari to be rated as the best president than Tinubu shows how useless that tinubu is to leadership .

Tinubu should go please, he has done more harm in the life of Nigerians than buhari did .

The biggest mistake APC made was to let go of El Rufia, and making sordid statements about him.

El Rufia is strategic and game changer.

If he's not on your side, Your Party will lose

He is a stronger supporter of Buhari more like loyal to his master.

I will keep saying it again and again.

That's where APC downfall began.

All what ADC needs now is to get more people from South-south, they don't need South- west for now.

North east and slightly the N.central will be in their bag, South East will fully go for them because of Obi

If David Mark, Ameachi can win for SOuth south votes, APC is gone!

Tinubu is a huge failure. He thinks Nigeria is Lagos... He kept the masses impoverished to serve his political mates thinking that will pave respect and honor for him.

He's a big fool

The subsidy gains from fuel and FX has already translated to more money in the pocket of executives, legislators and judiciary that they are embezzling.

It has translated to 5billion naira for SUVs, 20billion for renovation of building, free houses for judges, and new private jet, etc & nothing for the masses than Hunger, all round inflation, insecurity, disregard to human life & safety.

I didn't take more than a year to reflect, it's just debit from the masses and credit to the political leaders & elites.

There is no other benefit coming, weather in 5 years time or 8years time.

Tinubu didn't execute his policies well because he had no plan from the start than to play politics with the Nigerian people's common wealth.

Kwankwaso knows APC is sinking and is looking for survival. Kano people can vote his guber candidate but won't vote for APC presidential candidate.
