Popular TikTok personality Peller has once again stirred public debate—this time not over a viral video, but a job offer that has raised eyebrows and sparked strong reactions online.

In a video shared on X, Peller announced that he is looking to hire two photographers from a pool of twenty applicants. The surprising part, however, was his stated requirement: candidates must have a Master’s degree to qualify for the position, which pays ₦500,000 monthly.

According to Peller, the requirement is justified, as banks also demand advanced degrees while offering even lower salaries. He said if graduates are willing to pursue such roles, then they should also be willing to meet similar demands for better pay. The comment, intended to defend his position, only fueled more controversy.

Many Nigerians took to social media to criticize the requirement as unnecessary and even insulting, arguing that skill and portfolio should matter more than academic credentials in creative fields like photography.

“How does having a Master’s degree improve the quality of your work?” asked @THE_CRAFT3R. “He should be asking about their past projects instead of a degree.”

Another user, @MascotOgbe, wrote, “If you want to be cheaply popular in Nigeria, just be stupid. Peller is a perfect example.”

Others, while not necessarily supporting the requirement, defended Peller’s right to set the terms for his own job offer.

Na Mumu dey worry us, if I am a master degree holder with a camera skill, that’s a chicken change on if he wants a PHD holder with a camera, he should try and recruit one, I think this exercise will confirm to him that school is not a scam.

I don't see anything wrong for him to demand such or shameful in it, after all, our people spend millions to travel out to acquire the same Master degree only to end up doing care job in the UK.
