A member of the House of Representatives representing Yagba Federal Constituency, Hon. Leke Abejide, has allegedly caused the arrest of a former ally and constituent, Mr Jesse Abayomi Oloke, over his vocal opposition to the lawmaker's 2027 third term re-election bid.

Oloke, a former campaign director-general and spokesperson to the federal lawmaker during previous elections, had in a recent interview criticised Hon. Abejide’s decision to seek another term, citing earlier assurances that he, Abejide, would serve only two terms.

According to Oloke, the rotation principle in Yagba Federal Constituency, comprising Yagba East, Yagba West, and Mopamuro local government areas, requires that power moves to Mopamuro, which has only produced a representative for four years, as opposed to Yagba East and West, which have each held the seat for 12 years.

He stated that Abejide, from Yagba East, had promised to step down after his current term to allow for equity and fairness.

Sources says following his public statements, Oloke received an arrest notice and subsequently turned himself in to the police. He was immediately arrested and arraigned at a Magistrate Court in Mopa on charges bordering on defamation of character and threat to life.

The court granted Mr Oloke bail after he met all necessary conditions.

As at the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from Hon. Abejide’s media team regarding the matter.

Yes, if Atikul Abubakar contest this coming 2027, he will humiliated again. Then in 2031, Tinubu will handover to one Adewale or Osunbiyi from Kwara or Kogi to take the turn of the North Central. That’s when the Northern Oligarchy will know that two can play the game

Why is this man hell bent on disrupting the rotational arrangement in the constituency?

Desperation is leading this dude astray. Arresting a constituent shouldn't have crossed his mind.
