As a child, what was that dumb thing you ever did?
I mean the Most Dumb thing you did?



Me: Having worked as a houseboy while growing up, I was tasked with the responsibility of cooking for a large number of people. All the foods I prepared were salty. Either too much salt or maggi or pepper. But most times, it was salt. I tried to stop but no way. Because if I tried to have a taste of what I was cooking, they would say I had finished the food while still on the fire.

What I was doing to reduce the saltiness of the food was to POUR MORE SALT directly into the FIRE. This was Based on superstition at the time. I was told that doing so would drastically reduce or completely remove the salt in the food. Till date, I can't tell if it ever worked or not.

One of the dumpest thing I did as a child was when I went to cut the tail end of a goat my father tied down doe Christmas.

I ate my mother's contraceptive pills thinking they were sweets since they were in different colours... I was left under my grandmother's supervision and you know old people, they easily get tired and would eventually let their guard down.

Since I was in the house and in my parents' bedroom, she thought I was just playing and not doing anything out of the ordinary... Unknown to her, I was snooping around... I even rubbed some of the pills on my eyelids like eyeshadows...🤦🤦🤦... My grandmother still didn't pay much attention with my new makeover... ... It wasn't until my mother came home, noticed my face and started interrogating me... Long story short, I ended up getting rushed to the hospital for a check up even though I didn't feel anything wrong with me... After some tests, I was cleared from any harm.

I wanted to be creative...

I was maybe 9 years at the time. Just came back home from school, old folks weren't around.

I wanted to eat akara... so I fried the beans, pepper, Crayfish etc without blending.

It turned out inedible...so I called our maiguard's maybe 5 years old son and asked him to eat!🙈

Stole my classmate computer game,with the help of a fellow classmate ,way back in primary two . The werey later bursted me simply because I failed to give him the computer game after it had stayed with me for a week

One morning,the werey led the owner of the computer game and his mom to our house....... . I ended up denying him that he was the one who stole and gave it to me to help keep it for him.....las las,the kind of flog wey I collect from my father that very day still get scar for my blokos up till now

Not nacking amaka.....I was waiting till I mature, but one brother enter her and she nvr ever looked back.

Now I don grow and she no dey attractive for my eyes again 😒

Tried to fly like Superted (A cartoon character)

I smile whenever I remember this. Very funny

I was trying to act wrestling with our puppy, I ended up killing it when I climbed up and fell on it.

I fired turkey straight from the freezer.

Just heated the oil, and placed the frozen turkey in the hot oil.

While at it, all of a sudden my big brother comes back from school, this was 12 noon instead of the normal 2pm. They way I ran to turn off the stove and take to pot to the backyard. He still bursted me sha. May his soul rest in peace.

My dad had a Mercedes Benz Manual stick and I’ve been fazed how mechanics push the car and jump in and kick start it and park it.

Guess what I tried it in this sequence
Placed the gear on neutral
Pushed the car
Tried to jump in
Failed in my attempt
Car pushed me down almost crushed my head
And I let it roll down a slope and watched it go and go asking myself, how dumb could I really be.

Well na Benz, it barely had a scratch but that mama shop was destroyed.
My Old man dey rest, reading newspaper on a hot Saturday na how em pikin come tell am say make him look outside…..
God I thank you for my life.


Another one

I was a teenager, purchased a Motorola razr. Transformer has been acting up and finally light done come, then my charger was acting up, impatience made me to cut off the head of the charger, plugged it to into the socket and then plugged the phone.

The phone IC board literally blew

I couldn’t cry and wanted to cry at the same because something told me not to do it, but I did it any ways.

I think that was the last dumb thing I did till date

I misplaced my school bag when I was in primary 3 because of my love for football.

This experience made me realize how wicked the world could be because I kept my school bag somewhere I could easily pick it up but when I got back to get my bag..........it was GONE!

I searched everywhere but I didn't see NOTHING like it and that was the end of the school bag my mother bought for me when she traveled abroad!

Even till this day, I sometimes scold myself for leaving school during school hours to play football.

But that incident made me an "extremely conscious" human being that I hardly lose anything even up to a pin!

The dumbest thing i did as a child was plugging a torch bulb to 220v socket after asking myself why it was only batteries that could power the bulb. It was out of curiosity but the electric shock i got that day ehnnnn....na story for another day

Climbed over the railings of the stairs when I was a toddler. Fell off, cracked my skull on some leftover plywood. Came out of it relatively unharmed but still have a slight dent on the top of my head till this day.

And possibly some mild mental retardation.

Me and my 2 brothers thinking we were "Power Rangers" after watching the film.
So we went out to look for wooden sticks and called it swords. We even carry it everywhere we go. Everyone thought we were crazy.

Some other neighbors children got inspiration and join us. So we formed an Army.

Then everyday we would imagine war would break out and we would be the ones to save Nigeria.

Then we started training for the unknown war. We fought among ourselves to prepare for the destiny of Nigeria rested on our hands.

Oneday, we dug all our wooden sticks inside the ground near our house.

My Dad came home and asked what those sticks were and we should remove them. We told him "No". We told him they are our swords. We would use them to save him and mum and Nigeria when "RITA" comes with her villains to fight Nigeria. (Rita is the female villain in the Power Rangers Mighty Morphin film).

My Dad was just looking at us for hours.

Somebody should pour cold water on me.

My father woke me up to pee, because i do bed wet alot, instead of me to wee in the potty I open a pot of soup just cook last night and wee inside the soup, friends na only me finished the soup with better slap every meal till the soup finished.

I remember one day, i was usually pressing our neighbour doorbell to disturb them then run. One day it was shocking and i pressed it and it shocked me, I brought my short friend to press it too, his hand could not get there and i carried him then it shocked the both of us again.

My mum gave us hot tea in the morning, my dad was rushing us up to go to school. Local man ran and brought straw thinking it's going to be cold as usual , I got my buccal cavity burnt 😩😩😩

Mine was the dumbest! At the age of 13 going on 14, I accidentally watched a porn movie, and the couple asked the people watching to write to them. So I went to the post office and wrote to them in my poor English at the time, from Nigeria all the way to the Studio City in California. As I was about to drop the letter into the post office box, my body shook. It was the dumbest thing ever!

Addendum: perhaps to defend the couple - in 2007 when I left medical school, urged on my younger sister who told me to be hanging out that there were people to be met, I began to hang out at the bar and the hotel at the gate of my estate. Behold I met the man at the hotel bar. It was in a group of men just chatting, so we began to talk. Of course he was black (the partner was white, then I had a hard time recognising white people esp. blondes). He told me he was based in Canada, not California, even a Nigerian from Edo State, I didn't buy his being a Nigerian and his accent was difficult to place cos he was picking his words. A pro-democracy activist! He showed me newspapers depicting his activism in Canada. Abacha's apples came straight to my mind, and I was embarrassed.

Well, over few bottles of Guinness, we discussed setting up a free newspaper in the Lekki/VI/Ikoyi area. However, things came to a head when he invited an artiste I was proposing to be the front cover of the newspaper to the meeting we were supposed to have without my permission. He obviously went over Lagos looking for the artiste. The business was meant to be wholly mine not ours, so would he invite the artiste without my permission? My mother later mocked me, by indirectly saying I didn't have money yet I wanted to do all the business in the world.

Well, in 2012 I sighted him in the suburb of Baltimore I was staying; after that I didn't come out for four days as I was afraid and I didn't want anything to do with him again.

This above would certainly be a part of my biography in the future. I wasn't that dumb afterall.

For some reason I was playing with a seed of beans and it got stuck inside my nose, was scared of telling my parents to avoid spanking so I tried to sleep with it but couldn't breathe well.
I finally told them around 12 midnight when I couldn't sleep.
They put little snuff in my other nostril and I sneezed it out.
The next morning as I was about to get into the car for school.
My driver was hailing me "the man wey plant beans inside him nose"

1. After my dad bought a fridge, I childishly put my foot wears in the freezer up till now I can't understand why I did it.

2. My dad first phone in those days...when sim card is more expensive...so pman also warned us not to touch his phone...
One day he accompany a friend out... immediately they stepped out I was already playing with the phone and when I saw him coming chai! the phone light no gree off...so I will blowing air breeze thinking that will make the office light off lol.

8 years old, I drove my father's Peugeot 504 in to the gutter, after beating me, my mum came home and still gave me another round of beating..

Back then we use to live in a big compound with a large number of people, my mum was cooking outside while she carried me around, since she was so busy and not paying much attention I slipped from her back and made my way to the pot, along the way I picked up a Millipede, chewed it thinking it was meat, 😂 what made it worse was that i made my way to the pot, reach out my hands to hold it tight while it was on fire cooking, felt pain, cried but still not letting the pot go 😂😂

Werey think say he wise, my mum had to use palm oil as cure for the both foolings. Fast forward to today my family still make fun of me using that incident, they say the Millipede grew in my head and it's still growing. Lol

Back then in Benin,I climbed up like three steps up the stairs at the back of our flat and jumped down,easy,I said to myself. I made it 4 steps up,easy again. Then I made it 5, stretched my hands down on the rails and jumped down,omoh,it was as if my vertebrae switched from gear 1 to gear 6

CHILDHOOD is the best part of life..
Growing up I did alot of dumb shit. Lol
1. Fighting my classmates when they call me by my surname.
2. Bitting my five fingers whenever I pointed at an obituary poster.
3. Refusing to eat any food fallen to the ground believing devil has eaten it.

Base on the fictional stories that I heard in my childhood days, I planted fufu thinking it would grow up and produce more fufu.


I pure water to nourish it till today. Fufu no come out

Plenty money.

I loved exchanging higher denominations for lower ones.

I used to believe 2 notes of 1 naira was much more than 5 naira.

I will stand outside holding the outdoor antenna cable wire so that people will not be able to go through it to enter the television.
