I'm saying how do u track vat through individual accounts especially for small business owners who are probably not registered with CAC?

If they are saying they will go hard on small business owners, will they do the same for accounts of Senators, Governors and political office holders who sell contracts to their cronies for percentages ?
when i am paying for a service through proper channels - i am paying vat on it

if you buy data, vat is included. buy something at the mall, vat is included.

it is really simple. if you have over 5m inflow, all they need to do is look at your bank statement. any transactions that are payments for services will likely be labelled as such

say i buy a car from you and i choose to write gift in the payment instead of payment for car - if we have a falling out tomorrow there is no evidence of payment

one time i paid my kids school for a service that i eventually did not use. i asked them to refund and they were saying they could not find evidence of the payment. so i went into my emails and located it. i was able to find it because i had named it as payment for abcd

the truth of the matter is that these things are easy to tell

especially as when doing a transfer you will label the transaction as payment for a service.

will you pay for a phone by transfer without labelling the transaction?

years ago gtb actually tagged my account as a tier 3 business account because i was being paid for PP through it

we engaged a seller to buy pumps. the guy said you can pay me direct no vat - or pay through my business account with vat. we paid him direct - but we also labelled the transaction. because you also need that for your internal paper trail

the FG is closing the loophole
People can skirt around this by not adding descriptions.

Pre cum can escape before you think of reaching climax, so what happens then? Same pre cum can wait for an egg for as long as 6 days.

Let’s not even talk about the urge to continue shortly after with some residue still hanging around.

Waiting for a woman to get past ovulation means you have to wait for at least 20 to 25 days within a cycle for best possible result. Which man has such patience?
grin grin He is a lucky guy, underestimating 'precum'.

Niqqa wd have been wondering why even after pull-out she still gets pregnant and even start thinking she's cheating...should he not be lucky enough.😁

I don't label most payments I make. I do transfer and send the evidence of transfer to the receiver.

I really don't think Nigeria has the database and framework to track VAT on goods and services provided by SMEs

So it has gotten to forcing banks to snitch? Well, it will be interesting to see how this thing will play out given that an account can do over 5 million transactions in a month and profit no go pass 150k. While some with less than that figure make more in profit.
Does this include Opay and others?

and like i said, it can backfire

say i buy your xbox series x from you and you say i defrauded you and never paid for it but promised to do so

how can i prove this if i did not label the transaction?

more importantly, how do i audit my own accounts in the future if i need to?
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by swiz123(m): 4:25pm On Jul 09, 2025
TemporaryHansel:
Will this be applied to only business accounts? Or it'll also apply to personal accounts too?
Yes, both business and personal with cash flow of 5M and above.

i am surprised at that. coming from you. you are a meticulous /ordered guy and you work in an environment where the importance of records is reinforced daily

as a personal matter and as a business matter, i tag all my transfers.

sometimes that is what you need when you are calling out an artisan who you have paid over 200k cumulative for your car

I really don't think Nigeria has the database and framework to track VAT on goods and services provided by SMEs
they dont need a database.if the banks follow through on this, it is simply a matter of you getting called by FIRS. they can now impose a penalty on you if they find you wanting.

print out your bank statement and explain the transactions. not labelling will make it even harder for you.
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by swiz123(m): 4:30pm On Jul 09, 2025
BlueRayDick:
FIRS has not yet given guidelines on how the whole thing will play out. But ideally it is profit that is expected to be taxed, not the full amount
one gets credited in his or her account.
How do you suppose profit can be taxed? Who will calculate the profit SMEs make?

this is not about taxing earnings. it is about imposing VAT on transactions.

On the same day, the UAE restricted Nigerians who are between 18-45 to flying with a family member/friend in order to gain a tourist visa. And also requires Nigerians who are 45 or older to provide bank statements for the preceding 6 months showing a minimum balance of $10,000, to qualify for a tourist visa..

Now, Canada has also mandated Nigerians, interested in their Express-Entry visa, to show a minimum proof of funds of N17 million..

It’s like all these countries jointly held a meeting on our matter 😂😂

P2P traders move crazy funds daily without labeling them with anything specific. I buy things without labeling them correctly. In fact, 95% of anything I buy is labeled with my nickname.

Which record pass make I transfer money to a supermarket's account number and show the cashier the receipt ? Or me sending money to mechanic and sending receipt to his whatsapp?

I don't have time to be typing "Payment for groceries", "Payment for car servicing ", etc in payment description. Make the receiver deny receiving funds first , make e come see film.

I keep mental note of all my spendings, I don't need payment description to remind me what I paid for.

I'm not saying it is bad tagging ur transfers, I'm only saying it is not really necessary .

Concerning that, FX rate is moving funny. Rates fall while prices of groceries rise. Don’t you think you are losing money by trading in bits?

I have stopped buying USDT for sometime now because prices of things don’t reflect FX rate one bit.

I saw a guy making an argument that Nigeria has terrible diplomats, hence why we are getting all these bashing from different countries. He's arguing that some of our immigration guidelines/protocols do not favor foreigners so they are only adjusting their immigration rules to match ours.

He said we don't give foreigners long term visas so most of those countries are only reciprocating by tightening the noose around our necks abroad too.

I don't know how true his assertions are tho

Yoruba man wins election as mayor of New Jersey, you rejoice and say Naijerians are dominating abroad.

Igbo man expresses intention to contest election in Lagos, you say "it can never happen, Igbos like to dominate".

It's okay for Nigerians to dominate abroad, but not okay for an Igbo man to "dominate" Lagos.

Oyibo man says you can't get automatic citizenship by birth in his country anymore, you say he is rącıst and ėvıI.

Then from that abroad that you are, you make a post telling an Igbo man that was born and raised in Lagos to go back to his state.

You want oyibo man to accept you despite the obvious difference in skin color, culture, mental superiority, geographical divide spanning thousands of miles, language and accent.

But you cannot accept a fellow country man just a few kilometers away, who looks exactly just like you, just because he speaks a different language or dialect.

Even an Igbo man from Anambra will feel superior to an Igbo man from Abakaliki just because he thinks he is more Igbo than the latter.

But if he goes to China he wants to be treated with dignity, like the royalty that he is not.

The Black man doesn't hate racism, he just hates the fact that he is the victim.

Even a Black man is nicer to an oyibo man than he is to his fellow Black man, not because he is naturally hospitable, but because he wants acceptance by the oyibo man.

This why I don't really join protests, because the people protesting are usually no better than the people they're protesting against.

When they get the opportunity, they usually do worse harm than they complained about.

The Black man may have a beautiful Black skin tone, but an ugly black mind.

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by TemporaryHansel(m): 5:21pm On Jul 09, 2025
TemporaryHansel:
Gloriousgbola is genuinely hilarious. Watching Nigerians criticize Trump’s immigration stance is top-tier comedy. Let’s be honest, no other country on this planet would stomach the kind of immigration chaos the U.S. has endured.

This is coming from Nigerians who can barely coexist with neighboring tribes in the same Nigeria, yet suddenly become global human rights advocates when it’s America. Imagine Ghanaians, and other West Africans flooding into Nigeria illegally like Latin Americans do into the U.S. –Nigerians wouldn’t wait for immigration officials.
They’d organize community eviction committees by lunchtime.
Trump’s policies only look harsh if you drown them in emotions, hypocrisy, and a sprinkle of performative outrage. Strip all that away, and it’s just a country protecting its borders.
