Chelsea are into the Club World Cup final this weekend as Enzo Maresca’s side look to become the inaugural winners of the expanded competition.

The Blues coasted past Fluminense with a 2-0 win in Tuesday’s semi-final courtesy of a brace from new summer signing Joao Pedro.

And while several top European clubs faltered in the early stages of the competition, Chelsea now have the opportunity to end their summer in the United States with silverware and a large cash prize.

The Premier League side face a tough ask, though, and must come through a final against the winner of the other semi-final between Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

And here’s exactly what will happen if Chelsea do manage to upset the odds and clinch the 2025 Club World Cup title.

What do Chelsea get if they win the Club World Cup?

If Chelsea land the Club World Cup trophy in the United States, the club will get to wear a special gold badge on their shirts for the next four years.

The badge is there to recognise the achievement of the winning team until the next edition of the Club World Cup takes place in 2029.

The winner also receives the FIFA Club World Cup trophy, of course, as well as a FIFA World Champions certificate.

How much prize money will Chelsea receive?

A total of £774m ($1b) in prize money has been split across the 32 participating teams, and Chelsea will earn a large amount of that after their run to the final.

The Premier League club have already earned themselves around $105million by reaching the final

And should they win in Sunday’s final, the Blues will get an additional $10m in prize money.

Have Chelsea won the Club World Cup before?

Yes – both teams have previously won the Club World Cup – before it was revamped and expanded to 32 teams for 2025.

Chelsea won the 2021 Club World Cup under the management of former boss Thomas Tuchel, defeating Brazilian side Palmeiras in the final.

City, meanwhile, are the defending Club World Cup champions, having landed the trophy in 2023 with a victory against Fluminense in the final.

Both of their triumphs came when the Club World Cup was only contested between seven teams in the old format – which only featured one European side – whoever won the most recent Champions League.

City have had the Club World Cup gold winners’ badge on their kit since they won the tournament two years ago.

Guardiola’s team have been allowed to wear it for back-to-back campaigns as the Club World Cup was not contested in 2024 – with the FIFA Intercontinental Cup taking place instead.

Chelsea and City were picked for this year’s Club World Cup because they have both won the Champions League across the last four seasons.

The winners of the last four Champions Leagues automatically qualified for the Club World Cup under the new format. The other eight places for European teams are determined by a UEFA ranking system, based on teams’ performances in Europe over the past four seasons.

My prediction for the final is 8-1 in favor of PSG.

Chelsea winning the CWC can be likened to Keke winning fully loaded trailer in a shoving/pulling context. Well, anything fit happen.

Chelsea does not have the defence to contain PSG's forward play. If Liverpool and Arsenal or Internazionale with vastly superior backlines could not do it....

Let go back to Madrid yesterday, they crumbled, no thanks to extremely poor defending from real Madrid.

The first 2 goals were father Christmas, which must be costly in a match of such magnitude.

For Bayern, they lost, not only poor defending, they also failed to be clinical, most especially in the first half.

For Chelsea, it seems they have improved both in midfield and solid at back, far better that 3-4 months ago, IF CHELSEA CAN CONTAIN PSG IN 1st -30th MINUTES, I'm not seeing PSG surviving Chelsea. That was how they fell for Al Hilal.

Most cases in football, one team is always the favourite as PSG is on Sunday match against Chelsea. But football is not predictable, at times table can turn and underdog come out victorious.
