Congratulations 🎉 to Governor Monday Okpebholo. Another 4 years here. The goal of the matter here is to win in the field. If you refuse to win in the field, no hope for you. |

Can anyone remember how some group of people from a particular region in this country swore that APC will not win Edo State? That is why I laugh when they make noise about this yeye coalition of a thing. |

SUPREME COURT VICTORY, CALL TO HIGHER SERVICE, UNITY, SHARED PROGRESS FOR EDO STATE- GOV OKPEBHOLO The Supreme Court of Nigeria today delivered a landmark judgment affirming Senator Monday Okpebholo as the duly elected Governor of Edo State, bringing to a conclusive end all legal contestations arising from the 2024 Governorship Election. This definitive verdict is not merely a legal triumph—it is a solemn reaffirmation of the sacred mandate freely given by the people of Edo State. It signals the beginning of a fresh chapter rooted in unity, inclusiveness, and accelerated development. His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo, extends profound gratitude to the judiciary for its courage and fidelity to justice, and to the great people of Edo State for their unflinching support, patience, and faith in democracy. He views this moment not as a personal victory but as a shared triumph for every Edo citizen, regardless of political, ethnic, or religious affiliation. Governor Okpebholo renews his vow to lead with humility, compassion, and accountability. His administration remains fully committed to its developmental blueprint—prioritizing security, infrastructure, education, agriculture, healthcare, youth empowerment, and job creation. The focus remains clear: to deliver tangible benefits that uplift lives and restore confidence in public leadership. In the true spirit of statesmanship, Governor Okpebholo extends a sincere olive branch to all his opponents and members of the opposition. The elections are over; the real work of governance and healing must begin. He urges political leaders across party lines to rise above division and contribute constructively to the task of building a greater Edo State. Constructive criticism and diverse perspectives will always be welcomed, but they must be rooted in a sincere desire to see Edo thrive. Edo belongs to all of us. The time has come to set aside our differences, close ranks, and march forward—united in purpose, anchored in peace, and driven by a shared vision of progress. Let this victory ignite a new era of unity, dialogue, and impact-driven governance. Let history remember this moment as the point when Edo chose collaboration over conflict, vision over vendetta, and service over self. Long live Edo State! Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria! Signed: Fred Itua, The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State. Thursday, 10 July, 2025.

FINAL STATEMENT ON THE SUPREME COURT JUDGEMENT IN THE EDO GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION PETITION 10TH JULY, 2025 My dear people of Edo State, Today, the Supreme Court has ruled. Though I accept the finality of its judgment, I do not and cannot pretend that what was delivered amounts to justice. What happened in the September 2024 Governorship Election was not a contest. It was a robbery. Coordinated. Deliberate. And now, tragically validated by the highest court in the land. While I will not and can not obstruct any judicial pronouncement, no matter how flawed, I must never fear to speak truth to power. Like you, I feel a deep sense of betrayal. Not just by those who rigged the process, but by the very institutions we trusted to protect our democracy. You came out in hope. You voted for competence, for progress, for prosperity. And now, we are told that your voice does not matter. That your freely given mandate can be trampled without consequence. I feel your pain. I share your anger. And I will never forget your courage. To every young person who saw in this moment the birth of a new Edo. To every elder who longed to see our state rise again. To every woman and man who prayed, campaigned, and voted. We may not have won the office, but we won something greater. We found one another. We discovered our collective strength. Though this painful chapter closes today, our beautiful story does not end. The struggle to reclaim the soul of our beloved state continues. Yes, dark days may lie ahead. The weight of this illegitimacy will, unfortunately, echo beyond the halls of the Supreme Court. I fear Edo will feel it in the absence of leadership, in the poverty of policy, and in the daily suffering of her people. But we are neither a fearful nor a broken people. We may be wounded. But all wounds heal. So let this be our vow. We will not retreat. We will not be silenced. And we will never forget. To those who now hold power undeserved, lead with humility. Govern with conscience. History sees what the courts may not. And one day, it will deliver its own verdict. God bless you. God bless Edo State. And God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This is why the existence of a popular third force during an election is very detrimental. It makes it easier for the electoral umpire to rig in favor of one party, they simply deduct vote from the third force and add to the first or second force and easily get rid of the evidence. |

To allow matters to get to the supreme court where judgement is decided by Nyesome Wike boys sitting on the Bench is even worse for any plaintiff. |

Were you expecting anything different? Having confidence in the courts as an opposition, when it has to do with election matters in this country is a tall dream. It is next to impossible |

The election that all of us saw was free and fair was what some people claimed to have been rigged. This time the INEC portal that the 3rd candidate in the presidential election usually uses as an excuse for losing worked this time yet they were clutching to some straws. |

The message is clear, don't lose at election level, the Supreme Court is not technical enough to detect direct electoral malpractice, it can only disqualify if it is a forgery or party nomination issue raised by the party member. |

I was never surprised with the outcome! In a country where the president is the one incharge of the selection and appointment of the Chief Justice of Nigeria and you expect the personality to carry out justice without fear or favour? The president is the one in control of both the hiring and firing of the INEC officials including the chairman and you expect that our electoral system will be independent? The president is the one that appoints and fires the inspector general of police who also has the right to hire, transfer and fire state commissioners of police and you are expecting your life to be protected by them? Until we start mobilizing and demanding electoral reforms, what happened at Edo election state and will possibly happen at Anambra state will be child's play compared to what will transpire in 2027! The citizens must demand for electoral reforms for instance the removal of the power of the president to appoint and select INEC officials including the chairman and the mandatory electronic transmission of results while banning the use of coalition centres to determine results! |
