A careful reading of Acts 3:2-8 reveals something profound. According to NKJV, NIV and other translations, Peter disconnected from John, his travel companion, when he was about to heal the crippled man at the gate called Beautiful.

This was when he switched from requesting the lame to “look at us” into using the personal pronoun in verse 6: “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”

Peter may have sensed that John wasn’t on the same spiritual frequency with him at that time, hence decided to go it alone.

What this teaches is that gathering people to pray for you won’t help if they are not aligned. As the Scripture rightly asked: Can two walk together except they agree?

What you should have done is to point out the flaw or put up a superior argument rather than this lazy dismissive approach.
