John Harper (29 May 1872 – 15 April 1912) was a Scottish Baptist pastor who died in the
Titanic disaster on the North Atlantic. Harper was born in the village of Houston, Renfrewshire , Scotland , in 1872. He personally embraced his parents' Christian faith at age 14 and began preaching at 18. He supported himself in early adulthood by doing manual labor in a mill until Baptist pastor E.A. Carter of Baptist Pioneer Mission in London heard of his preaching and placed him in ministry work in Govan , Scotland. [1] In 1897, he became the first pastor of Paisley Road Baptist Church in Glasgow , Scotland. Under his care, the church quickly grew from 25 members to over 500 and soon moved to a new location on Plantation Street. In 1922, it moved into its present building on Craigiehall Street and was renamed Harper Memorial Baptist Church in his honor.

At the time of the Titanic disaster, Harper was 39, a widower with a six-year-old daughter, Annie Jessie (Nana), and pastor of Walworth Road Baptist Church in London. He was traveling with his daughter and sister Jessie W. Leitch to Chicago to preach for several weeks at the Moody Church , where he had been guest minister the previous fall, when the ship hit an iceberg on the night of 14 April 1912, and was lost. His daughter and sister were put on a lifeboat and survived, but Harper stayed behind and jumped into the water as the ship began to sink. Some who survived told that Harper preached the Gospel to the end (especially Acts 16:31), first aboard the sinking ship and then afterward to those in the freezing water before dying in it himself.

Baptist Churches have been doing things the Christian way far before these newcomers called Pentecostal Churches came along and perverted the word of God and gave Christianity a bad name.

Baptist and other Christians have been preaching Eternal Security, Once Saved Always Saved and that salvation cannot be lost right from the 16th century. It's so sad that Pentecostals have polluted the minds of people and blocked their ears from the truth of the Gospel and have lied to the people that they can lose their salvation.

When you preach eternal security to people these days, they reject it and hold on to the believe that salvation can be lost. This believe is rooted in Roman Catholism and is false. JESUS who died for our sins is capable of keeping all those he has Saved. He's not going to lose any of them or else he'll be called a bad and poor saviour. Pentecostals have reduced Jesus to earthly Banks where your money is not safe and can be lost.

If people have been preaching Eternal Security since the time of the Apostles and 16th century, are you now telling me that all those who believed in it then are now in hell? No, they are in heaven because that was the truth available and nothing else. But today we have a strong lie around which is making people reject that truth. That lie is coming from Pentecostals who came around in the 19th century speaking gibberish and calling it speaking in tongues saying they are under the influence of the Holy Spirit. No, they are inder the influence of devils cos the Bible clearly tells us that speaking in tongues is speaking in an earthly language which you never studied, not gibberish like oskalaaaaskentedji osjibajajhy bbaababyama eskelentelelee. No wonder they shout Amen at every sentence in a prayer, jump up and down and fall under false annointing. All these things are not in the Bible and not inspired by the Holy Spirit. These people are false that's why they are super rich with private jets etc. They have blocked your mind from the true gospel by telling you to be in constant fear of losing your salvation. Satan has engineered them with money to open branches everywhere. Why is there an RCCG branch on almost every street in Nigeria?y street and the next have 4 branches, to what ends? He's going about setting up branches of his own ministry to confuse humans from seeing the truth of salvation that it is a one time thing which prevents them from living in fear because their eternal life is assured and heaven is secured for them.

Once you believe that you can lose your salvation, then you are not saved. Hell fire awaits you when you die.
