What Type Of Bird Is This? by dayveed1(op): 10:17am On Jul 04, 2025
As I walked outside the door after a heavy down pour this morning. I saw this strange bird seeking shelter on the Clothsline in my balcony. I would have ignored her on a good day but she was looking at me and following me with her big yellow eyes. Her curiosity caught my attention so I snuck to her blind spot and kidnapped her. She put up a little fight and tried to bite me twice. I did a little research to satisfy my own curiosity. Google said it's some type of Falcon "Kestrel"

I'd probably end up releasing it. I don't think she can be domesticated.

Has anyone encountered or seen this type of bird before?

Oh dear… that’s a rare species of bird from the depths of the Amazon rainforest. It's known for its ability to turn invisible when threatened and can only be seen by people who are color blind. Handle it carefully, as it's usually considered a bad omen when close encounters with humans such as this happens. And if you read this up till this point I want you to know that I have no freaking idea WTH I’m talking about cheesy

I thought as much. Because even though she's still young. She is very big for her age and her claws are very long. I would have Loved to cater for her but she's been trying to attack me at every opportunity she gets.

UPDATE : I released it after many failed attempts to feed it. She flew away gracefully. It was a precious experience to share with my kids.

I have been seeing this bird around a lot and it seems they are finding something to eat around ahouses nowadays. Some of them when I see them are too weak to fly and one even sat near our window for hours.

Re: What Type Of Bird Is This? by OKOATA(m): 3:00pm On Jul 10, 2025
Lizard and rat is their best food. Lizards avoids them like plague. I even recorded a time one was eating lizard across my fence. "Falcon." Very fast and agile.

Yeah right and I just remembered that they usually hunt smaller birds too. Found them do that occasionally cos I have plenty birds up on the tree in place.
Re: What Type Of Bird Is This? by Nobody: 3:03pm On Jul 10, 2025
It's a peregrine falcon. It's super fast when diving to catch preys.
They are very popular around thick forests in Kogi.

Re: What Type Of Bird Is This? by esnbrutality: 3:05pm On Jul 10, 2025
That is NOT an Eagle.

That is a Peregrine Falcon. Very common in NIGERIA and the West African Region.

It will know you if you feed it. If you can't feed it with fresh meat release it. It's main food are lizards and it a SOLID hunting bird.

Free the Bird.
