FG Renovated VP Residence For N20 Billion. Soludo House Awka Cost N100 Billion by Topman7(op): 3:55pm On Jul 10, 2025
When the VP’s residence was renovated for N20 billion, all hell broke loose, with Obidients condemning the development as evil and insensitive, in these trying times.

As a sign that Tinubu was corrupt and wicked.

Meanwhile, Gov Soludo just commissioned a brand new residence for himself in Awka, that cost over N100 billion, and everywhere is quiet. 🤫

Can somebody make sense of this, please?

Is there something I’m missing?

Stop mixing things up on necessarily. If soludo built the house with his money and the house is for him, it is not the business of any other person. But if saludo used public money to build the house for himself, it is very wrong. In the case of the federal government, it is very clear that public money was used to renovate the residence at that inflated cost.

Again, the federal government itself announced that it used 20 billion naira for the renovation. In the case of Soludo, how did you ascertain the cost of his house?

Google about the new Anambra State State Government House and become enlightened. It is not just a house or mansion where Soludo sleeps. It is a mini city.

It’s the official governor’s residence, built with state funds. The cost is no secret. There was even a thread about it here a while back, and Obidients were proudly showing off the edifice as a sign of progress in Anambra.

Be rational. With the poverty rate in the country, it is wrong to spend over 100 billion Naira that belongs to the public on such a project unless the houses will be used as hotels to generate so much money for Anambra.

Agbadorians sha want to gaslight obidients even on the fakest and unreal news.

100 billion naira Governor's lodge will be like paradise compare to what we are currently seeing in Anambra
Re: FG Renovated VP Residence For N20 Billion. Soludo House Awka Cost N100 Billion by naptu2:
I'm not going to get into all this argument about what is more expensive, etc. I just want to provide some additional information.

1) The Vice President's residence has been under construction since the military era. Part of the problem is that they kept adding things to it (banquet hall, guest house, etc). This caused an upraor during the GEJ era because they wanted to add security gates and people complained about the cost.

The project was abandoned during the Buhari era because Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said that it was unnecessary (the media was speculating that it was going to be completed and they complained about the cost, but Osinbajo said that government was not interested in continuing the project).

Nyesom Wike said that it was wrong to abandon a project that a lot of money had already been sunk into, so he completed it.

2) What Governor Soludo built is an Administrative City, including a governors office, governor's residence, presidential lodge, etc.

Note: the cost of the Administrative City is different from the cost of the governor's residence alone.

(You can't compare the cost of these facilities to the cost of regular houses because they include security features, buffer land, quarters for staff, sports facilities, etc).

Well, it is N100 billion well spent today. It could have cost much less if it was done 10 years but people with your mindset slept on it and thus the state spent more.

It is the same mindset that is responsible for dearth of certain critical infrastructure in Anambra State because it wouldn't generate rent even when it is needed to drive the State economy.

Look, White House of USA wasn't built and expanded several times with peanuts but it has become the pride of every American. In the same way, the new Anambra State Government House in Awka named THE LIGHT HOUSE will continue to be the pride of every Onye Anambra for years to come.

If it was done 10 years ago with your own mindset, would it have been generating income for the state or would it have just been serving as a residence for government officials?

Whether it was done 10 years ago or it will be done 20 years later, what is the economic benefit in terms of job creation and revenue generation?

Was Whitehouse build in the same manner? Wasn't America more prudent in the management of public fund when America built the White House? The arguement is about prudence in managing public fund, not about the cost of building and maintaining the house.

But that of the VP does not contain all that you listed ba ? It contains only thatched roofs.

Felloe Nigerians see them ipobs arguement. Same reason it is OK to build a secind Niger brudge but coastal road kinking the west to SS is a waste.

One of the problems of Nairaland is that it is very difficult for some users to actually read and comprehend simple statements because they are obsessed with attacking and they don't even know what they are attacking.

Read my previous post again and this time try and actually understand what was written in it

Americans were more prudent when they built White House (because they have two heads and you were privy to the costs at the time) but Gov. Soludo who hasn't borrowed a dime is wasteful while constructing Anambra State Government House.

Inferiority complex on display!

Soludo didn't build just a mansion. He built a sort of complex with many administrative buildings inside, living quaters and a whole lot more. Stop this. 20 billion was used by tinubu to renovate a single house but soludo built a mini city.

@OP

Can't lie about being a fan of Soludo but not holding brief for him here when I say the 100 billion you state was spent seems justified costwise. What Soludo built is not just a Governor's lodge as seen in most States. It is a specialised small town of Governance with even a high-rise administration building.

Considerable amount was even spent on Gully erosion repairon the site of the project before construction could commence.

No Governor is entirely above reproach in Nigeria, as that is not possible, but I think Soludo is doing commendably well leading a challenging State.

https://www.thecable.ng/on-5-mega-projects-executed-by-soludo-without-borrowing-a-penny/

On 5 mega projects executed by Soludo without borrowing a penny.

Second on the list is the new Anambra Government House and Lodge Project. Anambra State has been using a makeshift government house since its creation in 1991.

Many civil servants in the current government house do not have decent offices and this impacts on their productivity. In fact, Anambra is about the only state in Nigeria where the governor’s official residence – which is also a makeshift – is not exactly in the state capital.

The current Government House is in Awka and the governor’s residence is in Amawbia. But today, Anambra’s new Government House, which is being constructed by Governor Soludo is over 80% complete.

Anambra’s new Government House is on 23 hectares of land with over 2km length of fencing. The internal road network comprises of a total of 3.2km of dual carriageways.

It has a befitting high-rise secretariat building, warehouse, government house building, governor’s lodge building, clinic, fire station, fuel dump, industrial kitchen, deputy governor’s office, sports complex, amphitheater, computer server building, banquet hall and residential apartments where civil/public servants will reside.

The quality of buildings in this complex stands out. It has well planned lawns, parking spaces and high-speed fibre optic infrastructure crisscrossing the 23 hectares facility.

One interesting story about this project is that the current premises of this project was almost washed out by gully erosion and, thus, the Soludo-led administration spent billions of naira in erosion repair and control works before the commencement of this project.

When this project is completed later in the year, it is likely going to be the greenest government house in the country as it has thousands of economic and ornamental trees in its gardens and perimeter. One environmentalist even remarked that the 23-hectare facility will be carbon neutral.

You are just sentimental, not factual. Prudence is not measured by borrowing or not borrowing. Someone that borrows can spend wisely, someone that has enough can mismanage. Stop reasoning like a kid.

People keep blaming FG for everything forgetting that the states have had their allocation increased fivefold since subsidy removal.

This is one of the most underreported facts of our current situation - that the states are swimming in money.

Collectively they get more budgetary allocation than the federal government.

Yet everyone just faces Tinubu and ignores them while they build N100 billion naira palaces and siphon money.

Those governors can’t believe their luck.

All fingers pointing at Tinubu while they loot!

The government house of Anambra has more than 10 houses, all. Luxury... It has streets, it has network drainages... Again
.it was constructed not just by soludo but by 2x governors... Hence the cost...

Maybe u judge by the facade alone

That complex has been under construction forever. It was not completed and nobody has lived in it. Nyesom Wike came and completed it.

You think there's no presidential lodge in the vp's residence?
You think there are no administrative buildings and staff quarters in the VP's house?

Whatever you think is in anambra govt house there should be x2 in VPs house.
So the VPs house is just one building huh grin grin

Every state house is like that, oga.

It’s never just one house. 🏠

The question is why was the Vice President’s residence an issue for you people when it only cost N20 billion, compared to N100 billion mansions for your Anambra state governor?

I just checked the exchange rate and that amounts to nearly $70 million!

Do you know how many industries you can establish with such amount in Anambra?

Do you know you can build 3 solid universities with that money?

But no. Tinubu is your problem.

In fact I weep for this country. 😢
