Back in 2006 when I started this biz with my good friend.
Apart from football, we had customers that regularly came to watch soap opera movies like Paloma, Second Chance.
We also had good customers that always came to watch... if you know you know

I hear alot of people say viewing centre is a side hustle.

I remember when I wanted to get into the business unfortunately I couldnt raise the needed capital.

My plan was to elevate what a viewing centre is to something that would be bringing in steady profit.

Use it as a rented meeting place for orgs, churches, lesson self.

Get game consoles.

Stream new movies, popular in demand series yes including zee world and korean and wrestling matches.

Refreshments buying and serving.

Charging spots especially where there is no light.

Remote work places just small partitioning thats all it takes.

Elearning spaces.

And so on..i get ideas full ground.

I dont see any reason why its a side hustle when you can invest big and be cashing out steady

You dont understand the pyschology behind this business when it comes to a viewing centre it is not necessarly the watching you are there for, thats why the business thrives. Many people have data and cable to watch but still choose to go and watch outside...e get why

No subscription
No petrol or electricity bills
More time for other hustles
Gaming option(hook tv or projector to game console)
Film viewing in rural areas(north).
Sell items & invest in farming(3 months).

They survive pretty well as you can see.

Viewing Centers are mostly side hustle. the ones that are full time survive by introducing video games and show top pre season friendlies and mini tournament.

The truth is that, most of the people who own and operate Viewing Centres do it as a side hustle. Or, should I say, they have other source(s) of livelihood.

Actually, it's been a while I went to the Viewing Centre to see a match. I decided to go to one of the Centres in my hood to see PSG vs Madrid; on getting there, I heard: "è wole pelu N400 yin o!". Omor, na so I shock oh! N400!!! What I used to watch with N100??

See ehn, if this coalition people are not serious and ready to send Tinubu back to Bourdilon (or Iragbiji...whichever), they shouldn't just toy with our emotions. We will vote just anybody from the coalition!

The damage Tinubu has done to this country is just too much!
Fear GOD nau. You wan use 1h take view match for Tinubu era? cheesy Petrol price and subscription fees are no joking matter right now. sad

Football viewing centers have been around in the country for as long as the sport has been known to be televised. It is something that has really become popular and an easy way to make some cool amount of money.

It’s a business that doesn’t really need much as it is in very high demand depending on the area where you’re located and you’re definitely sure to get customers and make profits whenever you start especially when big games or games between clubs with a large fan base have a game. The viewing center has been known for years now and people still visit them today to watch their favorite clubs.

I know very well that view center owners make cool cash during the season but how do they survive whenever season is over or during pre-season

The same way Private School Teachers survived during Holidays!

Jokes apart to survive is not really a big deal thing. Once you can feed yourself and the family, shelter over you, you will get by till the regular season begins.

By saving for rainy season, off season in this scenario.
But some of them also function as gaming centre
You're right, there's one close to my place, he even puts on Generator for the boys playing game

Most have other sources of income.
Most have games centre within the viewing centres and that doesn't have season.
Majority I know that uses it as their full time business are most the owner of the land or son of landlord and I am sure they might have save enough to withstand the 2months break.

Very dumb question , from August till May you make money and can't save for the two and a half months that the leagues go on break .
Btw do people still run this as a biz ?
Ever since betting companies found themselves in every nook and crannies of most urban centers , football enthusiasts swarm to their shops rather than visiting viewing centres .
its like 1 in 10 betting outlets that shows matches .. So they're very much still in business ...

Besides how many betting companies dey get physical outlets this days ...

Of all betting companies, na only bet9ja dey get physical outlets and 1 in 10 of their outlets shows this matches ..

All my live, I never see sportybet physical outlets ...

Back then when i was doing a school program to enter into 100level, the viewing center there is being designed like a beer-palour. You will pay the compulsory 100naira fee to watch a game, and can buy drinks too if you feel like.

During the off-season(holidays), people still stroll in to buy drinks and chill there at nights. They do sell this goat-meat stew or fried beefs together and with palm-wine too. The place is situated at a village-like-vicinity at agbor delta state.

They have other jobs, viewing centre is a side hustle not full time.

Even if it was full time, the real profit should be from selling beer and other stuffs during the match, not from just viewing fees.
So do they hawk the beer to sell during off-season?

First time comment... It actually depends, some stay idle sha or do something else
After the league season has. ended ..there are other football matches that can attract viewers to the viewing center.like FIFA World cup club, world cup qualifiers matches,, euro nation cup matches, friendly matches between two big teams , pre season matches between two big clubs, UEFA super cup, under 17 and under 20 world cup..

This is the best pre season period for them I history.

The enlarged CWC has given them bumper money.

However, what they normally do is to shut down till the next season resumes.
The idle time is not that long anyway. They can use that downtime for vacation. The last premiership game is around the end of May with resumption around the 2nd week in August. Compared to the USA, my favorite sport is college football (University of Michigan, Hail to the Wolverine). The last game is in January, with the resumption of the new season at the end of August
