This is what happens when people are innovative and open-minded...they solve problems.

Let me tell you something for free. The type of people who support incompetence will never ever be in a position to solve any big problems because it's either they are the ones creating the problems or they have learnt to live with the problem. People who criticise incompetence are far more valuable to society because they are not blinded by loyalty or anything.
God bless the womb that carried you.

You are a genius

Boss do number for number. This mode of fintech was introduced by them they lead we follow. Nobody is saying we are not innovative as a people alot of factor holds us down. Environment, Capital, and manpower.
inoki247:
Cap is Kuda not owned by a Nigerian and there service is so swift they even offer Overdraft service which no Nigeria Banks or any Fintech az ever offered cos the rate is so low..

Moniepoint is also owned by a Nigerian so what's with all this inferiority...

You should be comparing Opay with Fintech like Dem not commercial banks that's still living in old age or 1900 BC....

Oh ok the guy is legitimate. I thought it was owned by some dodgy Nigerian who will eventually run away with all the money. Seeing this guy now and his pedigree I am going to open an opay account

Nah, it's not part of our DNA. We build and then let it fade. Even Dangote's companies are managed by Lebs and Indians.

Absolutely no, we are not built to create enable societies in this part of the world.

Opay is the best thing that would ever happened to Nigerians in terms of banking. Those who are still afraid to bank with them are either old school or people that lack exposure. They are also insured by central bank, just like traditional banks. There are people keeping upto 50m naira in their accounts with Opay.

If you think Traditional bank are more safer, it miss you never had an encounter with them. Just yesterday, I saw a lady in the bank fighting over her mum 945k mysteriously disappeared in her account. Something we had never hear from Opay.

About 2 years ago, some people tell me that if I open a business account with FCMB and run it for a little while, I will stand a big change to obtain a good big loan from them. That was how I approached their branch o, I submitted all my documents including two references, passport photos and 15,000 as opening deposit. Could you believe till this moment that i am typing They never open the account. I went there more than 10 times, all they do is to promise me they will work on it. No feedback, nothing nothing, and it 2 years now.

Nigeria banks need to up their game, otherwise everyone will port completely to fintech banks by 2040.
Paid agent you are doing well, wishing you more contracts

I doubt that based on history. There's no room for ethnic biases in recruitment, promotions and others since they only operating from one office and is closely monitored by the owners.

I don't have issues with the company but you don't bring your own down just because you've a Chinese or white man version....

There's nothing Opay is doing that Kuda or Moniepoint isn't doing..

So saying is striving because is owned by a foreigner sounds inferior...

Have been to different African countries you will see most of our Commercial banks in those countries from First Bank of Nigeria u will see in Ghana, UBA, Access Bank, GTB you will see them in different Africa countries so what's with inferiority....

Even with how poor our commercial banks service are they keep expanding to different countries....

Re: Zhou Yahui: Meet The Chinese Owner Of Opay In Nigeria(pix) by 9jatriot(m): 4:40pm On Jul 11, 2025
No in most cases but I believe MoniePoint as someone up there already answered is Nigerian, and the answer is that Nigerians are better at complaining than coming up with solutions.
Now, we now attempt a solution, we complain about things that we knew before we started the business.

We know that power situation is bad, yet we spend hours complaining about it. Opay solved that by practically not having an office, at least not littered everywhere.
We know there are going to be multiple taxation, CBN regulations and government policies, rather than complain, I believe OPAY complies.
We know our internet penetration is not the best, but these guys practically give no excuses, they work within what is available and make the best of it.

A startup company set up by Nigerians will first ensure that the office (which by the way is not yet making any money) is finished to very high taste, allocate a high salary to himself (from venture capital money) and friends, spend more time traveling than solving the problem.

What I do not know is how they handle issues of bad staff and theft. That one is worse than all the bad government policies combined.

This assertion is wrong ,moniepoint leads in terms of pos transactions which opay is silently taking charge but in terms of online banking , Opay leads the pack.

Meet the Owner of OPay in Nigeria

OPay, one of Nigeria’s leading fintech platforms, is owned by Chinese billionaire Zhou Yahui. He is the chairman of Opera Software, the parent company of OPay.

Originally founded as Paycom Nigeria Limited in 2013, OPay was rebranded after Opera acquired it. Zhou Yahui played a key role in its growth and holds about a 30% stake in the company. Under his leadership, OPay has become a major player in Nigeria’s digital payment space.

are you sure?

base on daily transaction volume, Opay transact more with individual account more than moneipoint. Not everyone use moniepoint. Opay is badly wide spread than moniepoint,
Moniepoint is in big business than opay a little the way i see it. but when it comes to all around daily volumes in transaction, i think opay beat monepoint hands down. market penetration opay wins
