Raph14:You did a mistake in the deficit, you shouldn't have fonted as the one paying your deficit yourself those VO at Walter Carrington won't believe you. You should have mentioned your parent (Mother or Father) especially as your sponsor, then you can now say you also have some personal savings. I'm talking from experience. Having a $37k funding for master's is not easy to get |

Your request will be granted without paying SEVIS fee, it isn't compulsory. I did it and it was approved, I only paid my SEVIS fee few days to the interview. Be patient, your emergency request will be approved. There are no dates, you just need to be wait. Pacesetter2: |

Got U.S. C1/D Visa Before, But Denied B1/B2 3 Times + F1 Recently – Need Advice Hello Nairalanders, Please I need honest and constructive advice on my U.S. visa journey. So far, I’ve been denied the U.S. visa 4 times, and I’ve been approved once. Here’s a breakdown: I was granted a C1/D visa (transit/crew visa) earlier in my career. ( which i used to go across several Us cites for work and to the Caribbeans also) I’ve applied 3 times for the B1/B2 visa (visitor/tourist) before getting the job that requires the C1/D1 and was denied each time. Most recently, I applied for an F1 student visa, and for masters degree program to further my career prospects and that was also denied. I’m now planning to apply again for the F1 visa and I’m trying to understand what I may be doing wrong, and how best to approach the interview this time. What can I do to show my genuine intentions ? Please, I’d appreciate advice on: What are visa officers looking for when it comes to F1 visas? Could my past B1/B2 denials affect my current chances? How can I show strong ties to Nigeria even though my mother lives in the U.S.? How can I answer my family ties and mum in the US question? Should I wait before reapplying or go ahead and try again soon? Any tips on how to explain my past visa history without looking suspicious? If anyone has been in a similar situation or has worked with agents/lawyers that helped, feel free to share as well. I’m serious about doing this the right way and would be grateful for any help or guidance. Thanks and God bless. |

A VERY CRUCIAL TIP TO SAVE YOUR LIFE ♊️🇺🇸 When it comes to filling DS 160 for your Job Roles towards applying for a Visa — Learn how to Appropriately structure your statements. If you struggle to make connecting statements, here is a tip for you. 1. Learn how to use AI tools (e.g Chat GPT) to structure words together and provide an Insight for you - rather than writing statements like an High school level student. 2. When you’re being asked ”What a Program would do for you” - A program should be a SOLUTION to a Problem that is very peculiar to you / you’re currently facing at your Place of Work or in your Research activities. Discourage yourself of always saying _“I will come back to take a senior role”_ When you come back - would they sack the person occupying the position because you just returned from the US?? 3. When you’re Refused a Visa - Your DS 160 Should clearly explain the reasons behind the refusal and state what has significantly changed at the time of a new Application ➡️What’s is refused based on Inadequate funding? ➡️What is based on Unclear Study plans? ➡️What’s is based on Poor home ties? ➡️You must significantly provide answers to these questions - especially in your DS 160. BEST OF LUCK! ©️SamzyPR |

Efetobore1980:I'm planning ahead, and I'll be applying to schools in the States for Fall 2027. According to my school calendar, my final transcript will be ready by February 2027, so I'm preparing in advance to ensure a smooth application process. I've been in touch with several schools, and more than five have responded positively, indicating that they can offer me admission with my current transcript while I complete my degree program. Only one school wasn't receptive to my inquiry. I'm appreciative of the responses I've received so far, and I'm looking forward to continuing my preparations for the application process. |

Poormanpikin:What you should focus now is Acing GRE - Transcripts is the smallest thing |

Hayormide212:Thank you for your suggestion. Given my financial constraints, I've made a strategic decision to focus on schools that align with my circumstances. Specifically, I'm from the far north, and the costs associated with traveling to cities like Lagos or Abuja to sit for standardized tests, coupled with accommodation expenses, are prohibitive for me. To circumvent this challenge, I've opted for universities that don't require standardized tests. Furthermore, since my bachelor's degree was earned in an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, I've also prioritized schools that waive English proficiency tests. Additionally, I've selected schools that accept unofficial transcripts and don't necessitate external evaluations, which simplifies the application process. I've identified eight universities that meet these criteria, and I'm currently working on saving up for application fees, as none of the schools I've contacted offer fee waivers for international students. I'm planning to apply to at least three schools initially. I'd appreciate any further guidance or insights that could support my application journey. |

Poormanpikin:■■ You have a good knowledge of scale of preference which brings about your rational decisions in allocating your resources. Your financial ability will improve before the year 2027. ●● Focus on coming out with a good CGPA from your present school and try to work or volunteer with some professor's. Their recommendations will add to your application credits come the year 2027. ■ Your presence on Nairaland alone will have make you an expert before then. Keep studying topics related to your visa type as well as your application areas. 👍 |

Hello house, Classes starts next month and I just received my I-20. Is there by any chance I can still apply for my visa in Lagos because dates are really hard to get. Please how can I apply and expedite my appointment to get an earlier appointment date. Please I need the steps. Thank you. |
| Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Efetobore1980(m): 4:15pm On Jul 12, 2025 |
Ayotoni:■■ Any step towards your F1 visa application at this moment must be hastened which is not good for your own adaptation. Normally, you are supposed to apply for expedite appointment 3- months before your resumption, hence , your emergency appointment application is going to be on probable. ● If you have paid MRV, and SEVIS fee you may give it a try based on luck and availability of date in Lagos/Abuja, otherwise defer your admission. 👍 |

If your program starts in August or September, you are within 60days before the start of your program. So you can expedite and await their approval hopefully. Goodluck. Ayotoni: |

Hello all, I have a quick question. I submitted the request for emergency appointment because my school start date is at the end of July but I just received my I-20 last week. I had submitted the request and then there was a blue or green banner that popped up but I didn’t get to read it in time so I am not sure if the request was submitted successfully. Is there a way to check or confirm if it was submitted? I don’t want to submit another request if the first one was already good. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I checked my emails and I didn’t see a confirmation email either |
| Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Efetobore1980(m): 6:45am On Jul 13, 2025 |
CultureSmart:■■ It was a blue quick- flash message which confirmed your emergency appointment request submittion, so your expedite application request was successful. ●▪︎ If you are doubting you may try to submit another one (you can submit multiple if the system permits you) but the system will notify you to wait for the outcome of the one you already submitted. ■ ER email notification is not consistent nowadays, therefore the only way to be certain is to click on " Reschedule Appointment" intermittently. 👍 |

charlyduru:Hello I’m sorry about your previous setbacks and denials ,I know you must have spent a lot of funds for visa fees and it’s not easy but what I think is u should understand your purpose and how this course can help you change the world and make your country a better place and how you can give back. Take a moment to think this thru and use ai to construct a strong punchline for you on your next interview cos you only have one chance insort you have only 5 seconds to make an impact that would last and make the officer compelled to give you the visa |
