Kiev needs ceasefire by the end of 2025 – Ukrainian spy chief
Brokering a truce will be difficult but realistic, Kirill Budanov said

A ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine must be reached by the end of the year, the head of Ukraine’s military intelligence, Kirill Budanov, said in an interview with Bloomberg published on Friday.

He made his remarks as Ukrainian troops have been steadily losing ground along different sections of the front line, and after the 2024 incursion into Russia’s Kursk Region ended in costly failure. The Ukrainian army has also been struggling to bring in new conscripts.

According to Bloomberg, Budanov argued that “a ceasefire must be reached as soon as possible and well before the end of this year.”

“Is it realistic to do so? Yes. Is it difficult? No,” he told Bloomberg. “It takes at least three sides – Ukraine, Russia, and the US. And we will get to this position.”

Moscow has rejected the proposal for an immediate and unconditional truce, insisting that Kiev and its Western backers must first agree to several demands, including the withdrawal of troops from Russian territory claimed by Ukraine, an end to Ukraine’s mobilization campaign, and a halt to foreign military aid.

Russian President Vladimir Putin also accused Ukraine of wanting to use any pause in fighting to rearm and regroup its forces. Moscow has further warned that it will not accept the presence of NATO troops in Ukraine, even if they are deployed under the guise of peacekeepers.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said this week that the sides are working to arrange a third round of direct talks in Türkiye. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, however, said during a summit in Rome on Thursday that the countries must first complete the prisoner swaps agreed during negotiations in Istanbul on June 2.

LordAdam16:
We shall see the impact of these selective busts in subsequent round(s).

As it is quite possible that Tel Aviv gave the order to cease or throttle attacks to conserve capabilities when it became obvious that the ambitious regime change operation was doomed to fail in the first round.

I am of the opinion that if you do not gut the upper echelon that potentially aided these saboteurs, all they're doing is rearranging musical chairs.
A double agent in counter intelligence could give up or trade these inactive factories while building new, sophisticated capabilities.
The busts of factories, safe houses, and low-value agents like illegals pacifies the leadership and population.
But it changes little strategically because the capability was already exposed in round one and would have had limited potency in subsequent rounds.

This way Iran will always be playing catch-up.
Israel with its capacity for pre-emptive strikes will retain the ability to deal spectacular blows in the first salvo.
Israel also has the capacity to end the round prematurely thanks to its nuclear arsenal and US backing.

Logically, Israel could systematically degrade Iran through short bursts of conflict.
Israel will sustain significant damage to be fair, but since it can ask for ceasefire whenever it wants, they can avoid costlier wars of attrition.
To war planners, this tradeoff is not be a deal breaker.

The only way to truncate this plan is to drastically improve counter-intelligence from an F to an A- before the next round.
A tall order for even the most capable of countries.

I must add, though, that Iran did think fast on its feet to counter the sabotage operations during the war.
Sure, they did eventually turn to asking saboteurs to turn themselves in for amnesty, which demonstrates that they were overwhelmed.
Nonetheless, it was excellent on Iran's part to significant degrade a robust capability acquired over years within a few days.
And while a nuclear scientist was assassinated in Tehran on the last day of the war, the volume of sabotage attacks dipped while the apprehension of agents and confiscation of munitions increased as the war progressed.

In agreement with you, I also think Iran scored a big win in foiling Israeli plans for an even deadlier pager-style attack.
They were prematurely gloating about their established plan(s) and how its execution would shock the world.
They even gave a timeline. Then, nothing.
Again, it could just mean they called off the operation when regime change operation looked like it was doomed, and they could preserved the plan for execution in subsequent rounds.
For now, however, Iran has enough time to dismantle it, if they haven't already done so completely.

Quite on the right again.

The fact that Iran is still actively busting new sleeper cell factories after the war further highlights how deep and large Mossad has infiltrated the country. It is simply scary.

There must be some higher ups involved in all these, and that's where Iran is failing. You can't kill a snake without hitting the head. By now, they should be able to have a glimpse of who and who is involved in the sellout, at least, from the info they got from collaborators and spies caught so far. There is always a link and point of convergence on every command chain. A proper trace should point to the head of the snake in the house. Otherwise, whatever exercise they're doing now would amount to nothing, like you tightly noted.

As for Israel, I don't think they're in any position right now to start a fresh direct war with Iran. They're still licking their wounds from the shock destruction and damage Iran inflicted on them.

I just watched a video where Trump openly said that the US ambassador to Israel was running from bunker to bunkers just to avoid being hit by Iranian missiles. That tells you the level of damage and successful hits by Iranian missiles was grossly underreported and heavily censored, both in Israel and across the western media. One ambulance operator in Israel leaked a testimony of how they evacuated the bodies of about 1200 Israeli soldiers massacred around the border areas where they were assigned their barracks. He said body parts were smelling like chickens and they could not even gather all the remains of those torn to shreds by the Iranian missiles.

Trump didn't rushed in that ceasefire for nothing. Israel was being pummeled to a pulp.

The US ambassador wouldn't be running from bunker to bunker if Iranian missiles weren't hitting their intended targets. It would be suicide if Netanyahu tries another gambit in such short a time.

But, knowing the kind of mad man that he is, you can't write him off like that.

[b]Whatever, Iran appears to be preparing for the inevitable.

Intel says they have received up to 40 J-10 fighters from China. Plus, a Russian cargo ship just unloaded whatever it was carrying in Tehran yesterday and returned back to Moscow.

If the second round starts now, Israel won't have it easy either. They will not only have Iranian missiles to worry about, but also a dogfight showdown in the skies.

Besides, Iran didn't activate its proxies in the first round. The second round wouldn't be the same.

It is a war that would definitely set the region on fire.

Superb submission.

I always account for incompetence when discussing anything remotely involving the mullahs.
We all know a war is coming.
The WSJ reported within the last 48 hours that when they met, Trump informed Satanyahu that he prefers a negotiated settlement but is not opposed to another Israeli attack.

Iran knows what is coming and should be preparing for it.

But we're talking about the mullahs.
So prepare to be surprised.

I mean Haniyeh was assassinated so long ago you'd have thought there'd be no repeat, because they'd fixed that vulnerability.
But there was a repeat and even other new schemes.

The behavior he is exhibiting there is called a defeatist mentality. The fact that he is willing to forgo reports from even pro-Israeli outlets and only focus on IDF official statements is an indicator that he is undergoing some serious levels of cope.

I feel he has realized that Israel isn’t winning this war. And he is trying to console himself by wanting to block out any other news, including pro-Israeli ones, that doesn’t conform with whatever propaganda the IDF spills out.

When we keep telling them that victory in war is determined by whether you achieved your objectives and not by killing civilians, you see him and his supporters bragging about how Israel has killed tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians, and whatnot.

When we tell them that killing the political and military leaders of a movement has zero effect on the unit’s combat effectiveness, they will start an argument over nothing.

As I have repeatedly said, the only way to defeat Hamas is for Israel to go into those tunnels and engage Hamas in close-up combat. Subterranean warfare is what they call it.

Some of these tunnels go up to 70 meters underground, deeper than New York underground stations, which stop at 53 meters, so it won’t be easy. Israel should also be ready to take the large number of casualties that will come with such an operation. Anything short of fighting Hamas in the tunnel is pure gimmicks.

His copium is just another evidence of the larger cracks within the Zionist movement. Even hardcore Zionists are starting to speak up against Israel’s behavior in occupied Palestine. Things have gotten so bad that countries, states, and localities in the US, EU, and the UK have to pass laws to prevent people from condemning Israel.

I mean, if you have to introduce laws just to stop people from speaking up about your activities, then maybe you are the problem.

⚡Russia will agree to a meeting between Putin and Zelensky only after Kyiv’s capitulation, says Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister.

“Putin’s mandate at the Istanbul talks is to force capitulation. Their logic is opposite to ours. We say: let’s establish a ceasefire as a step towards creating conditions for a leaders’ meeting, fostering a constructive environment conducive to agreements.

They openly say: ‘No, first you accept our demands — capitulation — and only then will we arrange the leaders’ meeting. After that, you deal with implementing those demands,’” said Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Serhii Kyslytsia in an interview with The Kyiv Independent, citing the Russian delegation in Istanbul.

I couldn't have said this better. The laws themselves are backfiring, because now they have more and more people openly questioning Israeli lobby in America. I remember Spain hanging Israeli flags after Hamas attack but now they're at the forefront in calling for the EU to sanction them. The entire narrative is failing daily. The world can see Israeli settlers putting Hamas to shame in the West Bank, and too many exzionists are reading beyond October 7th.

Iran is sooo lucky that these sleeper cells were busted on time during the war. Otherwise, the carnage they could have caused would have been unprecedented.

This was what Netanyahu was banking on when he was yapping about complete control of Iranian skies and regime change in Iran.

It failed, woefully. Thanks mostly to average Iranian citizens that saw some of the drones flying from their locations and trucks used as launchpads.

As soon as the busting began, Israel's acclaimed air scores against targets in the country started to drop sharply.

And as it got worst, they cried out for a ceasefire because, Iranian missiles strikes were doing so much damage back home while their chances of successful hits within Iran has vanished with the sleeper cells and collaborators being busted everywhere.
Exactly. Israel would have devastated them completely if they'd allowed themselves to fall into chaos. But the question is, how many more of these cells are available in Iran? This is where the main problem lies. High profile heads need to start rolling fast. Some members of the opposition parties made questionable statements during the war. Go after them. Make people pay for this costly negligence. Pezeshkian said Israel attempted to kill him without providing a shred of evidence. Do some digging.

Israel lied to the world about having complete air supremacy. With jets flying everywhere, Iran would have been foolish to be packing 20+ launchers in one area when their tunnels are designed to enable sneaky and high-volume strikes. Those drones and spike weapons did 80% of the job

By the way, the Iran Supreme Council today announced wartime mobilization of resources for the production of ballistic missiles.

It appears like its late but I can see how planning something this complex could take 2 weeks.
They do need to make huge arrangements with China for precursors and other logistics before bringing 1500 facilities online (that's from their statement).

Iran is preparing for war. And if Satanyahu does not attack, Iran will provoke an attack when it feels it has acquired a large enough stockpile.
All they have to say is that they've significantly increased their 90% enriched Ur stockpile and it'll push Satanyahu's mumu button.

Or maybe they're exaggerating since it is now undeniable that the war will resume soon. Or it's a bit of both.

I've commented on this matter before and I wonder why it is still a debated topic.

Russia does not support the idea of Iran possessing nuclear capabilities that can be armed.

Before the year started Russia have been giving the world signals that clearly stated, they don't support Iran possessing nukes and since the year started they've diplomatically made it known again.

Geopolitics is all about interest no emotions, Russia have their reasons and all the wailing on this forum won't change a thing unless there's a change in Russia's strategic interest towards Iran.
