FreeStuffsNG:FreeStuffsNG please stop telling lies, when did they murder APC supporters in the south east? Again on what basis in 2023 did you expect south east to vote for a party that called igbos 5% people, a party that against all advice and warning the president sanctioned a military operation called python dance that led to deaths of innocent people because they wanted to stop IPOB, that move now made people there become more sympathetic to the group. Based on that and the fact that there was a more capable igbo candidate on LP, did you think they would vote for APC? |

43Ronin:Lol. A Yoruba person is a settler in Yorubaland. This sounds ludicrous. You should learn not to equate others social cultural system with yours. Your emotional game of sentiment is unsettling. A Yorubaman in any part of Yorubaland is at home. A Yoruba of Benin ancestry has more sense of belonging in Lagos and of course any part of South western Nigeria than any resident from South East. Being Yoruba or Igbo shouldn't be a yardstick to contesting an election. But when you want are doing so, with the sole aim of maligning and disrespecting your host, you can't be trusted with power. |

FreeStuffsNG:Based on the bolded, you and I know that for you to contest at Local government level, you must be a local that is you must have been living for years in that locality, interacted with the people, the people must know you and vouch for you. Now please show me one Yoruba man who has lived in let's say Fegge Onitsha for years, and I will show you 50 Igbo boys that were born in Agege in the 80s and have lived their lives in that area. |

christistruth01:Stop trying to be half clever in your analysis. Did you also tell people that igbos also supported her candidacy. - Critics, including the League of Anambra Professionals (LAP), countered that Bianca had the constitutional right to contest in Anambra as a married woman, regardless of her state of origin. LAP emphasized that Nigerian law permits anyone to run for office in any state if nominated by a political party . - Similar precedents were cited, such as Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (from Delta) representing Abia as a minister due to her marital ties . - The controversy was framed as both a patriarchal challenge and a political tactic. Supporters, like journalist Alvan Ewuzie, condemned the opposition as retrogressive and discriminatory against women in politics . - APGA officials like Chinedu Obigwe maintained that her candidacy was valid, emphasizing that delegates ultimately decided the outcome . |

Now it is marginalization that you can't hold political office in another man's land? Is there any other tribe holding political offices in Lagos? And what about Kano where the Igbos have also invested heavily? Won't they like to hold political offices there too? Or it's only Lagos? What is it that our friends across the Niger really want?? |

Smartcitizen:Yet Osapa London, lekiki and Vi and Ajah have homes owned by ibos and even streets named after them all over Lagos. I will not engage in an tribal arguments with anyone. It's not worthy as I have seen that people are becoming more tribalsitic. Which is quite alarming and worrisome at what we have become. My take is don't dish out what you can't take. A non indigene isn't allowed to contest elections in the east even to the extent of not allowing non indigenes to own properties. The lands are ancestral lands and family lands. I get that and I am not debating that. It's your home / land . But if you wouldn't accept all these in your own land . Don't expect others to accept same in their own and . You get? I don't care who rules or where he/she comes from. It's not like we benefit exclusively being from same tribe as our leaders . I have gone past tribal sentiments and followership. Whoever is good for the job should mount the post. |

Yorubas are fighting to keep hold of and control political power in their region, I can’t blame them. The argument of contributing so much to Lagos and now wanting to hold elective positions doesn’t make sense. Lagos built you but you claim you’re the one building it. Do we have Igbos handing out free meals and stipends on the streets of Lagos? How many schools and hospitals have Easterners built and handed over to the Lagos government? You’re running your private businesses and trade and claim you’re building Lagos. Like someone submitted, reciprocity is key. If you want a chairmanship position in the SW, be ready to relinquish same in the SE. Or are we not all in Nigeria and contributing to Nigeria’s growth? Lagos is better than ‘home’, otherwise you won’t be in Lagos. You can relocate back to your enclaves and make a Lagos out of them. Don’t you love your homes again? |
