Former Member of the Delta State House of Assembly and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in the State, Honorable Samuel Osi Okocha, has tasked the Delta North Political class and elites to work with Senator Ned Nwoko in his advocacy for the creation of Anioma State at the National Assembly, insisting that it was time to set aside any differences or inhibitions in the interest of our people. In a statement from his base in the U.S., the former Aniocha North representative said the call was aimed at eliminating unnecessary sentiments that would derail the project. According to Hon Okocha "The recently concluded Public Hearing by the Senate indicates, the massive support that the Anioma State Advocacy being championed by Senator Ned Nwoko enjoys from different sections of the nation, and it calls for more cooperation from the home front. "In a recent interview on Vanguard Newspaper before the public hearing, I made it clear that the level of progress made on the advocacy is worthy of commendation. Now the public hearing has been held and we are closer to the actualisation of this agitation, therefore, there is a need for all stakeholders, the political class and elites to close ranks with the Senator. Speaking further, Hon Osi Okocha called for a high sense of patriotism and understanding from political leaders and stakeholders, insisting that the Anioma State advocacy had progressed beyond local considerations, and was now a national affair. He also stated " I have heard some arguments from those not entirely in support of the creation of Anioma State, and while I believe everyone has a right to their opinions, I believe this is a time to align our interests with that of the majority. "The level the advocacy has attained today is beyond Senator Ned Nwoko or his political survival, because we must not forget that the Anioma State advocacy has been on for more than 5 decades and is bigger than even the Senator himself, he is only the arrowhead of the advocacy in this present generation and time. "As a former legislator, I understand that a project of this nature requires a lot of lobbying, tact and diplomacy to succeed, and with the level of progress made thus far, it shows Senator Ned has done well. Securing the support and signatures of over 90 senators is huge, and he deserves support and encouragement. Continuing, Hon Osi Okocha called for the understanding of the political class, elites and stakeholders of Anioma Origin, insisting that although no one was indispensable, their input towards the actualisation of the project was invaluable and important. He concluded "At this juncture, I want to emphasise that the input of notable Anioma leaders, political office holders, and stakeholders across the country and beyond is very much needed. We must not constitute ourselves into obstacles and hindrances because we will be judged and rewarded by posterity.

Nobody is against the creation of Anioma state but aligning it with the Southeastern region is the bone of contention and that is where we are saying no to. The NNU has stated it very clearly and Ned is on his own. |

Ttipsy:There are different ethnic groups in Anioma. There are Edoid, Igboid and Yoruboid. My mom's village is in Ndokwa East and Rivers state and we speak an Edoid language. |

No state will be added to south south and no state will be created from Delta. One state will be created from existing 5 southeast states and everybody will go and rest. |

You can go ahead and create anioma state No problems with that but we will never be part of south east. We won't allow them import that their stupid biafra and sit at home to our lovely anioma land. This is my position and the position of the majority of anioma people |

Ttipsy:Everything is wrong! Everything is wrong. You want to align us to a region where we are going to be completely stripped of our voices. We have carefully noticed their wicked campaign against our people and distortion of our history. A people who barely know their history trying to rewrite the history of a people existed Centuries before them. We are very patient and intelligent people. We know the struggles of our ancestors and how we got to where we are today. Aligning us with the Southeastern region may have a very irreversible effect on our people and National agenda. |

Ttipsy:Get across to the NNU and you will get your questions answered. The Anioma dream has been there and never was it expected to be part of an Eastern region. Is that clear enough? As Ndokwa people we have our own agenda period! |

Felimax:far more better if you can relate your subject to the national agenda you mentioned earlier… How does Anioma created 6th state of the SE stop whatever agenda you are referring to?? Do not be emotional or clearly presenting a prejudice about the people of the SE ? |

Ttipsy:Majority of our people are in the South South and make up part of the Benin kingdom, hence why we are in the South South. Why should we want to be in the South East? |

Zooposki:you may have a linguistic problem with other Anioma languages. Like you said you speak Ediod and that should not wave off the part of igboid Aniomas who equivocally want Anioma to be crested 6th SE state. Amioma as a state will be no different from other states currently in Nigeria that has so many language varieties.. but undoubtedly bia speaking people as majority personally I think your problem is about SE; and how will your national agenda be affected ![]() |

Zooposki:@Ttipsy please listen to the voice of the people. To be honest I personally don't know anyone in this forum that has contributed in this post so far but you can see collectively we are all almost speaking in one voice. Probably when this post gets to page two and beyond we may have a lot of views. Ndokwa as a nation, as a people have their own agenda that cannot be wired to that of Southeast. It is as Easy as it is. Nobody tells an Igbo man what to do and what makes you think it will be a reverse with us? Very sharply, the Ndokwa people are peace loving. We want to remain so for so many reasons. Please rest and don't push it. We know lingually and culturally we share quite a lot of similarities not withstanding we still reserve the right to choose where we want to belong. The Igbo people are our brothers and blood from other regions and anywhere we find ourselves we know we are one. It should stay so. |

Ttipsy:Please don't make this a tribal issue or regional issue. As a people we have looked at it from all angles and carefully think the odds will not be in our favour should we align with the SE. We love and share a lot of commons with that region, we also believe our overall diversity is our strength. |
| Re: Anioma State: It Is Time To Set Aside Political Differences To Work With Senator by Zooposki(f): 2:22pm On Jul 13, 2025 |
Ttipsy:Ika speak an Igboid language, but they are telling you they are not Igbo. Ikwerre have also said they are not Igbo. Ndokwa have also said they are not Igbo. Our value system don't even align. |

Felimax:as part of efforts to understand you and be on the same page with your opinion, I think your agenda, I mean your Ndokwa community agenda will not change even if incorporated in the ongoing struggle for Anioma state creation… Well our conversation only end here on Nairaland; only popular people’s referendum will have the final answer. As for your SE problem, you should try and clear emotions off your mind.. have a good day … |

Ttipsy:The Anioma state creation dream as been on for decades and has no iota of Southeast intrusion. We are only hearing it lately which made it seem as if it's a Southeastern agenda that is a lie from the pit of hell. I don't have any Southeast problem. I love them and they love me too in their capacity I am only telling you it will not do us any favour and please this is my point of view to actually align the Anioma state creation to the Southeast. It makes no sense. It doesn't make any single sense. |

| Re: Anioma State: It Is Time To Set Aside Political Differences To Work With Senator by Felimax(m): 3:51pm On Jul 13, 2025 |
Zooposki:The Anioma nation as proposed is a very diverse space. A lot has gone with the coming of an Anioma state with all stakeholders been carefully carried along. If you hear of an Anioma state you are hearing of about 5 to 10 different ethnic groups. These people all came together to push for a common identity. The ANIOMA STATE. Intertwined are Edoid, Igboid and Yorubaiod identities. The beauty of this is that barely will you find a conflicting ideology everyone seems to be having a common sense. It's so beautiful! Marrying these people to a region whose history is also vast and struggle very contagious can derail, bastardize or distort the originality of the common Anioma people. We don't want a place where banditry or terrorism will be grossly infiltrated. Like Delta state, Anioma is another place where you can say Nigeria is summarized. It's not everyone in Anioma that says Bia. Another very important angle to look at it from is our cultural connection with the Benin kingdom. This is a very integral part of our historical formation that mare wishes cannot take it away. |

Felimax:you not being so oblivious about the past… The integral part you refer to is generally a result of Benin conquest ; Still wondering why igboid languages was not affected by the integral part of your history you mentioned. Can we conclude that we are all ignorant apparently because historically the integral Benin conquest did not occur living you with a feature of language similarity with the Benis; Edo or Edoid have vast linguistic, attributable to Igbo and Igboid subgroups !!! |
