Yesterday a former president passed away in London and this add to long list of Nigerian leaders who died outside their Father land because they failed to develop our Healthcare system. Nigerians are dying every day due to poor healthcare system but leaders don't care because of overseas treatment but I have a message for the leaders, some Healthcare Emergencies requires urgent action and the day it happens death might occur before your plane lands abroad. Mr president fix our Healthcare system and save lives because you never know when Healthcare emergency can happen. |

Buhari was ex-president when he died. So as a private citizen he and his family are free to seek medical help abroad. Besides his doctor has always been based in the UK. Nonetheless the government need to improve healthcare |

Our leaders die at old age while most Nigerians die because they cannot afford basic health care I wonder what good is it to them that we don't have cheap health care system |

eejo:Good emphasis. And for the healthcare system in Nigeria to be deemed fixed and function optimally, stable power supply is needed. Both goes hand in hand. Without efficient and unfluctuating supply of power, most of the health services in the healthcare sector would be below par and won't be seamless. Just like there's advocation for healthcare system to be fixed, getting the power sector up and running constantly, is central to everything. Even a nation's economy thrives far better when there's constant and uninterrupted power supply. |

As long as we the citizens allow them to continue to take us for a ride. These leaders including the current one rendered regulatory tiers of government useless hence executive impunity, rascality & lawlessness became the order of the day even against their campaign promises and constitutional provision. Buhari built Aso Rock clinic but never used However, he was recklessly spending taxpayers monies in continuous healthcare tourism in cosy London hospital even against his campaign promises. Tinubu now is following the same impunity. Ekweremadu had opportunity to make the dialysis unit of UNTH better but he didn't do it. |

eejo:Every thing in Nigeria is design to impoverished the masses and keep us under their control. We are so far behind. Nigeria is a barren land even the most fertile of seeds would struggle to grow not to talk of the less fertile seeds. Nigeria rewards the privileged over the less privileged. The playing field isn't leveled at all. The rate of Doctors leaving Nigeria is alarming. Na beg I dey beg anyone no go fall into a grave sickness, make we dey battle our small sickness dey go. Doctors no dey Nigeria again. I read somewhere that the ratio of Doctors in Nigeria is currently 1:6000 whereas it's supposed to be 1:500 if Nigeria is functional |

eejo:There is nothing wrong with our health care system. A major reason why these leaders travel out of the country and get treated in such a way that is so private is really because of how certain people will choose to use their illness against them in mocking them. Pictures of Buhari on a sick bed in Nigeria, looking so sick would have graced some headlines of Newspapers and blogs all in a bid to tarnish him. Hence, the move to where their privacy is safe. This is one of the reasons. |

eejo:healthcare needs to be a priority before it’s too late for all of us. Interestingly, Tinubu is massively investing in that area. |

When it's time, then it's time. Good thing is, the probability of people getting reincarnated is very high. So if you do good, you'll enjoy the good. If you don't do good too, you will meet it there. |

Softmirror:There are many things wrong with our healthcare system. Have you tried visiting a government hospital in recent years? |
| Re: How Long Will Our Leaders Continue To Die In Overseas Hospitals by nairalanda1(m): 6:43am On Jul 15, 2025 |
Yemike:We got decent private hospitals in Nigeria. Not all our hospitals are government hospital. Infact some of our leaders go-to the decent private hospitals for care. like one governor who demanded to be taken to a private hospital in Nigeria after an accident |

Softmirror:Also, vanity. A nice way of showing how rich and powerful you are to your constituents is by being treated abroad. |
| Re: How Long Will Our Leaders Continue To Die In Overseas Hospitals by Softmirror: 6:45am On Jul 15, 2025 |
Yemike:The context is, you can get the best of health care service in this same Nigeria. |

nairalanda1:Your perspective is valid too. |

eejo:UK spends 250 bn dollars on their healthcare system Nigeria spends a paltry 3 billion on ours. How poor is that? A hospital in America used 1 billion dollars to build an extension to it's facility. The reason why we don't have enough cash is simple. Corruption, a resource dependent economy and poor income from taxes. Fix the above 3 , especially the resource dependent economy, and we will probably have the cash to improve health-care But then again, we got decent private hospitals here. Buhari went overseas for vanity reasons. Like tinubu does and all our leaders do. It shows they are rich enough to do so, and paradoxically, many Nigerians admire them for it. But let's be realistic. If we want our healthcare system to be as decent as the uk, either we put in the hard work to change our economy and pay either in tax or in increased hospital bills, or we take loans up to 300 billion dollars or more annually for healthcare. IMF no go gree . |
