I only remember him for one thing. When the terrorists who attacked the Abuja-Kaduna railway and kidnapped passengers were asked what they wanted, they simply replied;

"Ask Mr. President. He knows what we want."

Less than 2 months later, Kuje prison was broken into and all terrorists that were held in that prison, were freed. Every Nigerian army unit that would have quickly responded to such an attack in Kuje-Abuja, was dismantled days before and the soldiers posted to other units. Not one arm of the armed forces responded while that attack was going on. Who gave the order to stand down?

Less than 2 weeks after that successful jail break, the kidnapped Abuja passengers were freed. Reports had it that Nigerian army check points were all over the road leading to where the kidnappers and their victims were. Not a kobo of ransom was paid. They freed their victims and simply disappeared. They weren't paid in cash, they were paid by freeing thier colleagues held at Kuje. Buhari's government had looked away and allowed the jail break to happen. One may even say they organised it.

Buhari was very well aware of the plans Fulani made to bring deadly Fulani killers from all over West Africa into Nigeria to wreck havoc if Jonathan had not conceded in 2015. He won and then promptly forgot about those killers. They are all over Nigeria today. Killing, kidnapping and burning farmlands.
