Re: Soldiers Bar Traditionalists From Awujale’s Muslim Funeral by Bar1941(m):
I’m glad the Awujale broke that gene! It’s high time we redefined some aspects in traditional rulership if we really want people that can move our communities forward to come in.

An oba is like a governor or local council leader that preside over everyone in his communities irrespective of their religious affiliation. Anybody being a babalawo or pastor should be able to be an oba and they must be able to determine how they want to be buried.

A king is not necessarily a cult leader.i hope other kings can as well have a say on how they should be buried whenever they die.

May his soul rest in peace 🙏

😂😂😂😂😂😂

Him been a Muslim didn't exempt him for carrying out traditional rites during and after coronation, what do you say about that?

Like some above rightly pointed out, Africans need to know the difference between cultures and religion.
Isese tradition is not culture. It is religion. Therefore, any burial rites by Onisese is Onisese tradition not Yoruba culture.

Do you understand?

Possibly he had paid his due when he was alive or he doesn't belong to them. If not, no one can stop them from performing their traditions.

Those don't need any permission from anyone, they'll have their way by force once the deceased belong to them.
They will have their way by force in the presence of solders deployed by Tinubu who is Awujale’s long time godson? Shey you think say Traditionalists want to die by multiple bullets ni?

To be a king in a Yoruba land Oga, you must pass through some traditions or rithes

They'll always claim to be either a Muslim or Christian after entronement but becoming a king in Ogun state thats deeply rooted in traditions, you don't expect anything less.

Empiree:
He was a Muslim and he did not hide it.. It was very disrespectful of traditionalists to attempt to disrupt burial rites

This needs to frowned upon. Culture and traditions need to be enforced at such times as this.

Anyone who doesn't want to be buried in traditional ways has no job being Oba.

Imagine an Oba who is expected to be a keeper/preserver of traditions refusing to be buried in traditional ways.
Meanwhile, if it's Muslim or Christian doing that, ........what would ur comments be?

Did you also reason that no where in the book where they say king must practice traditional things, the last time I checked, oba can practice any religion that he likes to do.
Re: Soldiers Bar Traditionalists From Awujale’s Muslim Funeral by Belurved1(m): 2:42pm On Jul 15, 2025
That one is sure. Honestly, it's like they don't want to cause public embarrassment to some politicians present in the venue, if not naa una go open the door for them to perform their ritual.

Don't joke with traditions expecially in Ogun state o. E fi ti kesari fun kesari o.

Okay

But the Awujale is a cultural stool, right? And the king regardless of his religion is bounded by the culture/tradition surrounding the stool?

This is why i respect Oluwo of Iwo. he has been making it clear that there isn't anything like traditional in his town from Inception. if he die today i dare any traditionalist to show face. I'm sure if the current Ooni or Alaafin too pass out may they live long they too will avoid been hand over to the traditionalists. The earlier we move away from this dirty things we call traditional worshiping the better. we re in the 21st century for God sake. we gat to evolve. even the Arabs are once idols worshippers so as the European but eye don clear now that Abrahamic religion is the way to life. it now depends on which one u go for out of the three. That where u gotta use ur brain so u wont end up been an idol worshiper pro max inside Abrahamic religion too. Serve the creator not the creation
Try to avoid enslavement to foreign myths and legends pls.

They will come back at the "appropriate time" and because agreement na agreement.

The Osugbo cult—also known as the Ogboni society in some regions—is a traditional and secretive institution among the Yoruba people of southwestern Nigeria and neighboring areas. It holds religious, political, judicial, and cultural significance in traditional Yoruba society.

I was talking about this earlier but guess what emotions that stemmed from religious upbringing comments were saying something different.

The Soun of Ogbomosho was even honorable to drop the Christian clergy back then, I guess the man understand what it entails to be a traditional king but trust some of us to be in our feelings when addressing this.

Everybody will be fine at the end.

Dey deceive yourself, which gene he broke? To become Awujale you think sey naa by beans.....oga you'd better focus on your religion and leave the traditionalist. Yes, one can change after becoming a king (practicing his religion) but before becoming a king, you must do the needful. Don't be deceived.

O o le j'Oba ti o ko ba JE Oba. You can't become a King if you don't JE King.

That 'JE' get deep meaning.

This people funny. You mount traditional stool de claim Abrahamic religion. An institution older than you. Before he became Awujale he would have done all sorts of rituals. It’s time to hand his body over to his owners. He will have to give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar. You enjoy the benefits of traditions in luxury, you must pay the price. Nothing is free. Make People in Ijebu sha watch how they waka in the next few weeks.
they will surely have their way, but not for public consumption

The cult will still perform their rites. His corpse will be summoned spiritually.
