Let us be clear, following Muhammadu Buhari, Peter Obi stands as the most popular and politically significant figure in Nigeria today. His presence at the event would likely have overshadowed its solemn purpose, drawing undue attention away from the occasion itself.

His decision to visit the bereaved family privately, at a more appropriate time, reflects sound judgment and respect for the moment.
