I don't seem to understand !

So, they are happy with the way the Masses are finding it difficult to get money to buy the product at high price.

Now, this where the work of a Good President comes in, lets wait and see the if the Presidents also want her Citizen to pay more for a Product that can be purchased cheaply.
What do you think is the business of the marketers with suffering masses, as in how is that their business? And did you not see some nairalanders coming here to spill trash about dangote trying to achieve monopoly?

Interesting, this us expected given the size of the refinery, and the fact that international market fir butane is highly limited. Other temperate countries consume propane mainly, so the refinery has to offload its butane somehow.

If dangote can sell butane at cost or with just 5% margin, Nigerians will love him and LPG will sell around N700 per kg. Right now LPG cost about 850 per kg, and retailers get N300 to N400 margin per kg.

This brings to an end the coastal storage business, all those terminals with huge investments for large spheres. Unless they are willing to work for dangote for just the through put charge.

Dangote better be careful. This is the kind of thing that has Bill Gates in trouble in certain quarters - crashing people's means of livelihood by donating it for free!
Did you know we have more gas than crude?

If supply of gas is higher than crude, the price of gas should be relatively lower than crude or fuel. It's common economics. Supply of gas cannot be so high and yet we are paying 1300 per kg. It's madness.
Govt and marketers have been ripping us off.
We are a gas nation, not really an oil nation.

You don't get the key consideration here. Dangote is no philanthropist. He is a businessman who wants to make money by undercutting others in the market price-wise.

If others too then respond by slashing prices, who win? The buyers i.e Nigerians. That is what free market economies do. Stimulate healthy competition, innovation and constant availability of goods and services.

Since removal of subsidy, with the local Dangote refinery now functional, when have you experienced fuel scarcity that used to be the norm in the past when Marketers world hoard fuel and engage in cartel blackmail of Nigeria?

When BUA refinery and others come on-board soon, it will be game over for marketers and that would be fantastic for Nigerians for many reasons.
All I'm saying is that he be careful because marketers will not take "game over for marketers" lying down

Trust dangote at your own peril, he should crash the price of cement.

His way of monopolies, control the market then bring a surge in the price.

If your means of livelihood can be given for free them you're sleeping on a time bomb. In fact, they're guilty of the monopoly and system capture they're accusing the man of.

2,000 Tonnes compared to 1,000,000 Tonnes from LNLG?

Why would 2,000 Tonnes( Dangote Present output most probably from fumes of Crude Refined, though I stand to be corrected) be a Threat to 1m Tonnes Customers?
2000 tonnes daily which is over 700,000 tonnes per annum.

You've said it all.
This country just needs to encourage mass production of goods and services, how can importers hold this country hostage and pass the blames to the government?.
It will always be cheaper from the producer, let these wailing mofos sit down and have good business talk with Dangote, they should enlist as distributors to Dangote and stop polluting our airspace with noise.
Funnily, Govt own the major blame cos the "Enabling environment " is not adequate, that goes a long way influencing cost of operation and prices

If Govt provided what they need to provide ,. mass production will be realistic But in an economy choked with high cost of operation & inflation everyone switch to downsizing

Production is not cheap esp. in Nigeria, Govt can bring significant relief by ensuring our local refineries function either govt-owned or privatized

But why must the marketers engage in hyper inflation due to greed. If they must compete they too can come together and fund their own manufacturing of LPG

Those marketers that are protesting should pool their resources together and build a refinery so they can give his refinery a run for his money.

God bless Alhaji Dangote.
There are four refineries up for sale by FG they wouldn't have to build one they can pool their funds together and buy one

Bros, you are such a very smart guy!

The marketers are free to step up their game by building a refinery and competing with Dangote. How do you tell someone not come into the business or not to sell at the price that is profitable to him while also affordable to the consumers. It is a capitalist economy and the earlier the players accepts that, the better for them.

I just don't understand what is wrong with our people. Before Dangote started refining petroleum products, they would always tell us about the landing cost going up every time. Suddenly now that has changed because they could no longer sell that narrative. Dangote should be allowed to invest in LPG and allow people to sell freely.

Of course you would not expect me to come and buy from you if your product is more expensive than that of Dangote. A word, they say, is enough for the wise

These importers just want to snuff out life from the masses. They want to enjoy the market monopoly with high price but caution to the same attitude as if they are better. They should allow competition to flow, in as much as he is not disturbing them from getting the products.
I don't blame the marketers and distributor but rather the regulatory officers who have chosen to ignore their duties and the consumer protection officers who normally should set the rules and regulate prices.

It's not absolutely true that prices are not regulated under capitalism.

Are they insane? Marketers are the ones affecting productivity in Nigeria. APC politicians are mostly these marketers cos they are using govt advantage and influence to maintain a hold on pricing
That is a fat lie, these marketers are not in politics they are AGIP types, they are usually to the uninformed regular people, I'd even suggest that many of you envy their children whom you come across living a life of luxury while also wondering what they do to make such money.

They cut across all ethnicities in Nigeria they'll tell you they are involved in oil and gas and you'll be wondering where their oil well is located or where their tank farm is, but they don't have either of those what they have is an allocation from NNPC depot as a wholesaler of oil & gas products.

I can name some individuals "celebrities" but I'd rather not

All I am going to say is that if subsidy had gone in 1992, by now there would have been 8 or more dangote style refineries in this country, which would have been exporting even...and earning lots of dollars.
How many refineries did the UK have in 1992 and how many do they have now?

You have so much to learn. cheesy
Re: Marketers Protest As Dangote Moves To Crash Cooking Gas Price by nairalanda1(m): 11:20am On Jul 16, 2025
For Kukutente23

The UK doesn't have subsides on petrol, that's why they have decent refining capcity.

Our subsidy on petrol meant that we went from 400000 bpd to 12000 bpd in 2012, to 6000 by 2019.

There is a reason why GEJ wanted to remove fuel subsidy.

But since you want to think that I support tinubu, because I say subsidy must go, therefore we must assume you think that GEJ supported tinubu back in 2012.

At the end, you will never understand . Good morning. Really, it's no use chatting with you. You really need to act more like the married man you are.

You don't get simple economics. As much as i support reduce price of LPG but we must remember that it would face others out if it's not market pushed adjustment.

Meanwhile, when the other competitors cant compite again, dangote would increase the prices arbitrarily thereby making abnormal profit at the expense of the masses.

I don't understand, someone say he wan scatter market price wise, you say he wan do monopoly, wetin dey stop you too from scattering market, if he reduce price, you sef reduce price.... It's called price competition....

The end user will buy where the price is more favourable

Naaah..... I don't think this will happen, if it does, he'll face more competion , this move will cause other people to go into the production of LPG and other gases, and create more competion

Those who were pushed out in the cement industry were importers. They were pushed out when FG banned importation of cement and many other products. Tell these people to go into manufacturing like Dangote. They don't have to be Jack of all trades, just one product is enough for an individual.
BUA and Larfage are as guilty as Dangote cement, they're all colluding to fix the price of cement above the market price
Seriously I didn’t know this was a touchy topic, thanks for your input.

“if the distributors are not trying to bring it down, we’ll go directly and sell to the consumers, so that people will now transit from firewood or kerosene to LPG for cooking.”

Dangote na God go bless you. This man has the interest of Nigerians at heart more than the one that is in power. That one is waiting to increase tax and costs only.

How can you say you are a government and you can't exercise powers to moderate prices and be masses oriented?

Who will protect the consumers from the corrupt distributors?

Dan gote, na man you be
