Please what makes Mr Yaradua a better president than Mr Tinubu?
Lol you can't compare they are miles apart
1. He solved the Niger Delta militant problem Obasanjo struggled to address for 8yrs by bringing amnesty .
2. He is the only president nigetia ever had that brought down fuel price , sixty something naira per liter
3. In his tenure dollar was about 120 naira or so amd was very stable
4. The electoral reform was already in place as he agreed the system that brought him to power was flawed . He died b4 actualising that which would have suffocated election riggers
5. The 7 point agenda was actively followed with meaningful progress until his demise

You see?

Nigerians are not people full of bile and bitterness

We just want good governance and affordability of life's basic

God bless OBJ, Yar Adua and GEJ

The rest can go and buy their blessing from lNEC and judiciary
When you are done deceiving yourself, you will go back to the reality that Tinubu is the president.

The same Yaardua that the whole South East celebrated his death. The same Yaardua that Dora Akunyili became celebrated because she asked for him to resign at the cabinet meeting when he was sick? The same Yaardua that that destroyed the EFCC and sent Ribadu to exile. The same Yaardua is what you are now celebrating just to mask your evil intentions.

Give us another 15 years...you will celebrate Buhari and twist history again just to justify your bile..

Yar’adua contested against Buhari and Atiku to emerged as President. If he had contested and defeated a Jonathan backed by Ibo prople or a Peter Obi backed by Ibo and Christians, you guys would have hated him as much as you hated Buhari and Tinubu.

Let's agree Nigerians have short memory. The question now is, will Nigerians say same about Tinubu's two years? Didn't Osinbajo only take charge for like six months for Nigerians to prefer him to his late boss?

My people have an adage, "Any Sunday weh go sweet, na from Saturday you go know."

Peace.
Lolz. People from the eternally bi.tte.r section of Nigeria were praising IBB as the best thing not long ago. You're underestimating how de.n.se an average Nigerian can be.

Nigerians are one group of people that appreciate the most infinitesimal gesture as long as it is borne out of goodwill.

You can force people to write good things about you when you are gone.

Your life is the testament written of you when you are gone.

You lived a life that inflicts hardship on people and you expect that when you are gone, they'll write epistles of sweet nothings about you. Na lie o

Yar Adua was a sincere man, not given to greed and avarice like the Nimrods we have now

1. I agree.
2. I agree. Fuel reduction is good for folks.
3. Nothing to do with Yaradua. Naira was always tied to oil prices. This is actually a point for Tinubu because he's the first president under whose watch we've seen signs of naira decoupling from oil. (If you don't understand this point, you can skip it).
4. I agree partially. He admitted flaws in the electoral process that brought him to power and made the right noises about electoral reforms, but not much meaningful progress was made. If there was, his successor won't have dumped it.
5. 7-point gini? It was mostly a list of talking points without any direction.

I prefer Tinubu to Yaradua though, because Tinubu understands macroeconomics. Yaradua was too clueless to see beyond his own nose, that's why he reversed the sale of the refineries and took some decisions that made Boko Haram grow into a bigger problem. I don't like Bulaba's "subsidy is gone" without a human face, but at least, it will benefit the economy in the long term.

First governor in Nigeria to publicly declare his assets, moved Katsina from debt to $50million dollar surplus, focused on education and healthcare, elected President, declared assets publicly, followed rule of law, obeyed court rulings even those that favored opposition, released Lagos funds seized by OBJ, achieved amnesty for Niger Delta militants, admitted he was elected through a flawed electoral system and started electoral reforms through justice Uwais committee, started River Niger dredging, many infrastructural projects

Nigeria didn’t become a first world country, but he started doing the right thing and people admired that.
Rightly put... God bless you

If YarÁdua is not the worst rogue ever, why did he not resign and have another election instead of hanging tight to a flawed election that was annulled in the minority opinion of Onnoghen and two other SCON justices?

What happened to all the corruption under his administration when oil price was $140?
Why did he cancel all Obasanjo projects, after that one made him president with Iwuruwuru INEC election huh
Even if Yar'Adua had resigned, GEJ would've taken over as President, brought into office by the same flawed election. That's how Nigeria's constitution works. Yar'Adua didn't sit tight and do nothing or try to take further advantage like others do, he set up the Justice Uwais electoral reform committee to correct the system. Most people take advantage of the system so they can continue to win, rare people like Yar'Adua try to fix it, and resigning won't solve anything, it will open the line for some other possible rogue, so why not use your power and fix it under your watch?

Regarding your claim about annulling the election. SCON upheld the election in a 4-3 split decision. The way the Nigeria justice system works, a simple majority is needed to uphold a decision.

What happened to all the corruption under his administration when oil price was $140? He launched a Due Process Office and Fiscal Responsibility framework, and they returned unspent money to the treasury for the first time in Nigeria's history. He didn't earn his "Due Process President" out of thin air. Yar'Adua recovered improperly sold FG assets. There was no major corruption scandal directly tied to Yar'Adua himself, unlike previous Presidents.

Did he cancel OBJ projects out of spite? He reviewed and paused some of them, especially the ones without due process, like power sector and refineries.

Nobody is perfect. Yar'Adua wasn't, but he tried to do the right thing. I don't know how that turns a man to the worst rogue ever. You need to clarify that.

Read a lot about his father. Unfortunately, i was never around Nigeria all through his tenure. But I have never read anyone seriously talking bad about the man. That says a lot. I don't know whether this is because Nigerians have been so pulverised by their tyrannical presidents, so often that they have now lowered the bar to the minimum, or that the man was actually good. Which way, one thing that is very self evident is that until Tinubu, Nigerias presidents without any military background have proven to be more humane and people oriented in their policies when juxtaposed with the ex Generals that have messed up this democracy.
The guy was a Genius, he sold the Nigeria delta problem and brought peace to that region a peace that still stands some 12 years after his death. He woke up one day and removed N10 naira from the price of fuel it was the first time there was a price decrease in Nigerians history. He broke Dangotes monopoly of cement and sugar allowing for competition in the sector. I'd rate him the best because he made things better. There was freedom of speech as he was mocked ridiculed and not once was anyone arrested. The ten naira he removed is N200 now. The naira to dollar was stable. His only crime was he moved slowly. He said he disliked making mistakes that was why he made slow calculated decisions. And the incredible thing was he had very serious health issues. May God Grant him eternal life.

What of the 2nd Niger bridge and the railways, which Jonathan revived and built in just five years?

For three years, Yar’Adua was too busy stealing to bother, while making appropriate noise and gestures to distract attention from his reckless looting.

bumi10:
Former Rivers State Governor and current Minister for Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi has praised the former Nigeria preident, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for his ability to complete more than 80% of his projects before leaving office.

According to Daily Post, the Minister of Transportation on Tuesday commended the immediate past administration of ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan for embarking on massive projects that have been beneficial to Nigerians.

Speaking at a Town Hall meeting in Abuja, the former Rivers State governor said his Ministry did not meet any comatose project on assumption of office. He said the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration continued the projects of the previous administration because “We realised the impact of the recession.’

Amaechi noted that the Kaduna-Abuja railway was nearly 80% completed by the Jonathan’s administration. He said, “In the ministry of transportation, we did not meet anything comatose. We met an attempt to bring back our rail services.

“The Kaduna-Abuja railway was nearly 80% completed which we commissioned and commercial services have commenced.’’

Yardua reversed the sale of nigerias refineries

he is the root cause of the 18 billion wasted on TAM over the past decade

yardua was in poor health and he knew he was in poor health.
he could have done us all a solid by declining the position.
I think the reason people like him is because he was honest and had good intentions, he wasn't a religious or tribal bigot.

Well you have to substantiate your claim of "stealing" and "looting". Perhaps bring up some major corruption scandal that was tied to him.

The summary is, Yar'Adua laid the groundwork for the Second Niger Bridge, GEJ built on it, and Buhari completed it. Yar'Adua initiated the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Model for the Second Niger bridge. That PPP model is now being used by successive governments after Yar'Adua. It was used in the Lekki Deep Sea Port, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Railway projects, even the recent Coastal Highway of Fraud lol. It's now a standard for large scale projects in Nigeria.

Back to the bridge. The Environmental Impact Assessment started under Yar'Adua. After all said and done due to delays in funding and bureaucracy, GEJ started construction in 2014. So let's say Yar'Adua took 3 years to lay the ground work, GEJ took another 3 years to complete the remaining groundwork, then started construction after that, then buhari continued construction and completed the project.

Here's the verdict: Yar'Adua did a lot. GEJ built on that model. He promised he will continue on Yar'Adua legacy and he kept his word, and earned respect.

On the railways, actually, OBJ's government initiated the project and initially signed the contract but it stalled due to funding, Yar'Adua's government restructured the project into phases so they can be done segment by segment. he introduced transparency and the PPP modal for a more realistic outcome. GEJ started construction of the Abuja kaduna segment in 2011, approved the Lagos Ibadan section in 2012. Buhari commissioned Abuja Kaduna in 2016, started lagos Ibadan in 2017 and completed in 2021, and launched kano kaduna and PH Maiduguri projects.

Why did I run through these timelines? To show the part Yar'Adua played in the project. He laid the framework and funding model that made it successful today.

In as much as Yaradua tried his best in the short time he held power we will only judge him for the short period he spent on power maybe he could have been the worst if he had spent more than that, Buhari too when he came on power bailed out all the states that are insolvent that couldn't pay salaries and asked their workers to be taking a day or two days off duties, he also maintain fuel subsidies today some people see him as the worst president.

Yes, it was short. I'm just saying that if he laid a solid foundation for anything solid, his VP/successor would likely have built on it to give us solid elections.
