Gerrard59:I am not really sure now, as I have been out of academics for 10years now. But I know the salary range is between 400k - 700k ish. The difference is in the additional employee value proposition like overseas and local conferences sponsorship, prestige, accomodation, and good work environment in the case of universities like AUN, etc. But academics na very good field to work for work-life balance and you can use the extra time for side hustle which can fetch you far more than the monthly salary!!! |

Khariza:Professors in private universities' pays are worse! Private universities hardly have professors resident in the school. They contract them on part time basis. And few that are resident get somewhat between 500 to 600k. Federal universities pay professors and even lecturers more than most private universities. |

Teachers, and everyone else in academics are not greatly paid everywhere in the world, you go check what teachers and lecturers take home in the west compared to the cost of living there. That aside, our professors here, what are they professing? Quackery? Not too long ago I saw a news article about some department under engineering faculty in FUOYE celebrate their final year students for making a stove that runs on solar energy, what's this stove? A purchased 200ah lead acid battery hooked up to a purchased inverter and then hooked up to a purchased electric stove, isn't this shameful? An idiot could do this, head of department was in this picture, all smiles 😏 These are the issues, apart from health related courses, the federal government is just wasting money on these people, especially Engineering and the science facilities, Law, Education and Arts are doing great, our professors are definitely aren't living up to expectations, no results at all, can they talk and share ideas where their counterparts who are actual professors are gathered? For those who are calling for increased wages, this is the news for these people, https://news.fuoye.edu.ng/federal-university-oye-ekiti-students-design-solar-powered-stove-using-locally-sourced-materials/ |

Love800:Sincerely it is subjective. For example a Professor of Architecture can't be dependant on his salary to be able to buy such a car. That's a subjective example. Objectively a Professor should be able create value that makes money outside depending on salary alone. You could be a consultant for example, go into research in which your findings are a worthy. |

It depends on the type of civil service though. Oil and gas earns well, including some other agencies. id4sho: |

Okay. But walking around-marketer is still cool to me, if you introduce yourself well and have a sequence in which you talk about yourself and your product. Its a freelance job(making you to have time for yourself). Apart from the official duty days, you can also go sell your products on your own, during your leisure time, plus scheduling meetings with customers so as to boost more sales! Omowale2023: |

Love800:Bros......no try am. I have done it. Trust me, it's harder than it looks. You are always on pressure to meet target. Working on constant pressure will affect your performance. The only way you can have peace of mind to do that marketing job is if and only if, you are paid salary and allowances (Transport and feeding). Then you will be meeting your target all the time. That's why I will never do insurance Marketing again. They tell you to use your money to transport and feed yourself all the time. Furthermore, if you don't meet your target, they call you lazy and uninspired, insurance Marketing will tell you salary is slavery but yet they expect you to use your own money to look for customers for them and still give you 3.5% commission of whatever money the client/customers drop with them. I made up my mind I will never do insurance Marketing again. I have done marketing for other businesses like NBS(they gave us transport for 3 months straight upfront totalling over 150,000). I worked with another company at ikoyi, they gave me a bus and picked me at the nearest bus stop to my home at 7am to market each local government in lagos for a 2 weeks. A forking freaking bus. And they still have me 5k for transport when I got almost stranded. And guess what, instead of me to do the job in 2 weeks. I did everything in 4 days. Why? because I had transportation to go anywhere I want, the Marketing manager for the brand doubled the salary they were meant to give me. So you see. It's well sha. God help us. |

In other words, you taking about the type of service or product the company markets. And also the company's mode of operation. I understand. To me sha, i feel if you are passionate about marketing, you will excel during trial-times. Its just in me. I have a burning desire in how to talk and engage people. I love to be in the public, not arguing about things that doesn't relates with reality, but analysing and having creative conversations. What you said also adds on how one can be more productive in the job. The style and process of that particular company may kill your vibe. You are correct. I was marketing this monie-point pos product for a company, some time ago. No salary, just commission. Their model of operation was not all that good too. I suffered alot. But it wasn't the suffering that made me to quit my job with dem. I just feel i wasn't ready enough(was having some personal challenges on my own), so i drifted away from dem. In the future, i will still engage in a good marketing firm, and eventually start my own sef. Thanks so much for your contribution. Omowale2023: |
