So projects like Akpabio stadium, Anambra Airport by Obiano or the Ebonyi Airport by umahi might not be generating more IGR than the much maligned and trolled hero beer,WOW!!!!
The airports above are the usual white elephant projects to launder money. In Nigeria, only Lagos, Abuja, PH, Kano and Kaduna can make a financial case for an airport. Infact PH, Kano and Kaduna financial feasibility is not watertight but they should get close enough and we can allow them as hubs for domestic passengers to disembark and find their way to other states by foot. Warri and Akwa-Ibom may have small airstrips in service of their oil industries.

That said, Obis $12.6m investment in SABMILLER is now worth $3.4m today going by today's share price of N14.30 for International Breweries Limited

Note that SABMILLER had already built the brewery in Anambra therefore any IGR generated today is not a result of the investment as the brewery was already built and the IGR is mostly generated by PAYE payments from the brewery going by your screenshot

Obi simply bought a 10% equity stake in the company on behalf of Anambra as an investment. In terms of money management, a very poor investment decision to put all of Anambras eggs in a single basket, an investment that has yielded a negative 77% return ignoring present discounted values or Cost of Capital

If I remember correctly, i think he said he adjusted the bot to curtail tribalists. Tbh, irrespective of what he does tribalism won't cease to exist on nairaland. It's not his fault, he doesn't have to take the blame for that.
A lot of Nigerians have a fvcked up mentality. No amount of ban and censoring will stop them from being tribalistic.

But if he can't change it, he should modify the bot in a way it'll only be active on the front page just like he adjusted that 40 characters rule to apply only to Frontpage topics.

Those tribalistic posts on fp threads are bad optic for this platform, so the bot should be active there.

OkpaNsukkaisBae:
1. It threatens a citizen’s life and safety:
No governor has the right to say someone’s security “will never be guaranteed” just because they entered a state. Every Nigerian has the constitutional right to move freely and be safe anywhere in the country (Section 41 of the 1999 Constitution).

2. It abuses the power of the office:
A governor’s duty is to protect all citizens and visitors in the state, not to use security as a weapon to intimidate political opponents. Security agencies like the police and DSS belong to the Federal Government, not to any governor personally.

This is happening in your so called democratic Nigeria. Make una leave the Sahel Countries alone. They have chosen their path to development and economic security. Focus on your country.
Miss me with your tunnel visioned school of thought, it doesn’t move the needle. I have absolutely every right to speak against the insecurity in Nigeria (my posts are here for all to see) and at the same time, question the irresponsible decision of an African leader to extend his junta through till 2029.

Nigeria is not isolated from the continent of Africa and part of the issues that have maligned the continent is our indifference to our collective growth as a continent. We are speaking of a continent that can’t ease trade restrictions between neighboring countries to help our respective economies.

If he wants to contest elections, he is well within his rights to do so, if their constitutions permits. However, deliberately weakening institutions, silencing opponent and extending an illegitimate government present a bad taste that holds us back.

Nigeria is a country of gangsters thats why Okphebolo is asking Obi to "check in" like say he is Trick Trick, J Prince or Big U, and Obi is a rap star that needs protection

The only places where politicians don't check in are Lagos and Abuja

I also remember a story about El Rufai being being detained in Anambra during Obis tenure for refusing to check in.

No FDI he attracted or investment in Lagos from his tenure, not even his business that is top 10 in IGR but he built lagos

They have possibly violated the policies and procedures of the company. The lady should know better, she is a HR chief.

Most “Big” companies require associates/employees to disclose employee- employee relationships because the company may suffer serious consequences if the relationship goes south, particularly if it is a supervisor- subordinate relationship.

She knows better than anyone that it was a dangerous venture even though is not unusual. She could sue the company and allege Quid Pro Quo if the relationship fails. There are so many ways the company can suffer consequences.

They are putting him on leave for getting caught in a ridiculous manner. You are cheating on your wife with a married co-worker (most likely against company policy) and you go to a Coldplay concert?

That lack of judgement alone makes it difficult to trust him with the company's future and fortunes. I am just waiting for the HR woman to MeeToonize herself.

You don't need an MBA intern, even Okonkwo and Sons can tell you to diversify your portfolio or tell you a 77% loss on investment has performed badly.

And I am easily a billionaire in Naira but that's irrelevant to discussing Obis wack investment.

What evidence do you need to judge Obis investment except Anambras no of shares and shares price.

When facts don't agree with your emotions, you label it cappings.

Obi investment $12.6m

Anambra shares 407,321,264 x Share price N14.30 = N5.8bln = $3.4m

Diversify your portfolio, he went to put all Anambras investment in one shaky basket. Capital fail.

He should never be allowed to make investment decisions on any wealth fund of any Govt entity based on this epic fail

Can we say lack of consequences is why naija is the way it is? Because if that stuff happened here, irrespective of how media hype it up, nothing would happen to the CEO or the HR.

It's irrelevant. His investment was in 10% equity in the parent company, not to bring the brewery to Anambra as it was already in Anambra. The IGR is being generated by the PAYE paid by the brewery workers.

This is like Tesla plant is already located in Berlin and Berlin Mayor going to buy Tesla shares. He can't say his investment brought Tesla to Berlin to provide x amount of IGR, cos Tesla is already providing that with or without him buying shares that nobody sent him. He is simply investing Berlin money.

The equity stake was a pure investment decision and has proven to be a terrible one.

And what is the IGR being generated sef, about N26m Naira per month or less than £11k.

You must be a joker.
You are comparing a governor threatening a private citizen from entering his state in the future to a private citizen that was detained by SSS who he confirmed were on orders from Abuja and sued them to court.

That na English renovation?

Absolutely. I have always maintained that one of our biggest problem in Nigeria is a lack of strong and truly independent institutions.

Like I said earlier, don’t misconstrue this to mean intimate/ romantic relationships like this don’t happen in the work place here, they do, but companies must be proactive in protecting itself from lawsuits that may emerge and this is a good example.

Many companies, particularly, mega corporations and enterprise have lost millions/ billions of dollars from litigations that arise from incidents like these. This is why many companies now employ the best lawyers and integrate them into their HR processes to help with the management of their HR processes and policies because these laws change every year.

Sexual harassment, work place violence, harassment are mandatory continuous education for all employees in almost every company today.

Below is an example of a mandatory CE class all employees across the company, irrespective of position must complete during onboarding, annually or as needed. Associates also sign an understanding of the policy guiding it.

My company for instance spends a lot of money and resources in training on any associate with a supervisory role, particularly senior executives, because Quid Pro Quo is very difficult to beat and has significant financial and reputation consequences for the company.

Dem kukuma sabi me. I no dey use my career play tete! I know the hardwork I put in and continue to put in to get to where I dey today.

Nothing happens in a State without a Governors consent, knowledge and clearance, and often his prompting, especially when he is chummy with the President like Obi was with Jonathan

So Obi can speak English all he wants, El Rufai knew the hand of Esau that detained him. Fight in Anambra was between APGA and APC and nothing consine PDP in Abuja except by Obis prompting

Same way Obi was unaware of James Nwafors abuses and murders in Anambra because "Police is a Federal Agency" when we all know Governors have major influence if not complete control over Police postings and behaviour in their states. Using English and technicalities to renovate themselves.

James Nwafors reign of murders lasted many years and must have been known from the top given the length of his abuses, while Lekki tollgate was a flashpoint incident amid wider National protest and a massacre without bodies despite the presence of hundreds of thousands of camera phones
