Nothing happens in a State without a Governors consent, knowledge and clearance, and often his prompting, especially when he is chummy with the President like Obi was with Jonathan

So Obi can speak English all he wants, El Rufai knew the hand of Esau that detained him. Fight in Anambra was between APGA and APC and nothing consine PDP in Abuja except by Obis prompting

Same way Obi was unaware of James Nwafors abuses and murders in Anambra because "Police is a Federal Agency" when we all know Governors have major influence if not complete control over Police postings and behaviour in their states. Using English and technicalities to renovate themselves.
El Rufai himself talked about what happened in 2014 and even took the agency responsible to court and won.
We didn't see anybody mentioning the governor then.

That's fact.

Fact is seeing a governor come out to threaten the safety of a private civilian.

You once advised me to take it easy as I am now abroad.
Let me advise you as an elderly person abroad, hypocrisy will not help you, especially not as you are about to enter your 50s.
80% of Your recent posts on political conversations cannot always be to attack Obi and then you ask me to take it easy. Can't work nau.

James Nwafors reign of murders lasted many years and must have been known from the top given the length of his abuses, while Lekki tollgate was a flashpoint incident amid wider National protest and a massacre without bodies despite the presence of hundreds of thousands of camera phones

Every lagosian knows the atrocities committed by Sars in Lagos especially in Alagbon,no police brutality pass this in any police station in Nigeria, should we attribute it to past governors

After many years, you still have this GBA takes despite the fact it was streamed live...

You are not Obi so even if I attack Obi, it has nothing to do with you to make you start throwing around personal insults.

I wanted to ask you what me criticising Obi has to do with you issuing threats of personal insult as before and now you have landed with whats on your mind. ARE YOU OBI?

liveLongNprospa:
Na why I dey always laugh when Ibime dey attempt to preach "civility".
Lmao you go dey lie obvious lie still dey tell me to jeje with my response.
Very funny fine boy 😁
My advise for you is to focus on the career you or your wife are building in Canada, not pretending to be Obi online and attacking those who criticise Obi

It is normal for El Rufai to sue the responsible agency as courts only recognise official reporting structures. If Wike sends Police to beat me today, I can only sue Police as Wike is not their Commander in Chief. Suing Wike would be hearsay in the eyes of the court. Rufai has sued the SSS legally in court and also identified the hand of Esau behind them outside the courts.

If Monday Okphebolo was to assault Obi in Edo State, I am sure he will do it via a Federal Agency and only the Federal Agency will be liable, not Monday as under the law, they are not supposed to answer to Monday.

Imagine calling Tinubu a drug dealer comes with automatic personal insult from OasisX or Raumdeuter. What kind of childish behaviour is that?

Obi is a normal Governor like any other Nigerian Governor. If you throw insults, we will continue to tackle him. Some of us were ambivalent toward Obi before but if you throw insults, we will continue to show how much of a normal Nigerian Governor he is.

Stay one place, one moment you're saying it's Obi that arrested him, the next you're saying actually it's the FG that arrested him but it's Obi that told them what to do.

We've seen police officers stand their ground against elected governors in the state ...i.e with Obaseki and even Sanwo-Olu in Lagos.

Tomorrow you'd see them saying Sanwo-Olu was in the know on the end SARS massacre and you'd formulate another contradictory defense for him.

You hold am for neck for that side e dey point James Nwafor grin

Well I'm sure he now sees how terrible a point that was.

Every eke market day we see governors pushing for state controlled police, why can't they just relax afterall they're in the know and in control of what security agencies are doing in their state.

Same way there are APC persons on SM that once you attack Tinubu and APc they'd go personal.

That said, insult no dey kill person, the real threat is the violence meted to a person and their business interests...and we all know the group of persons that are in the habit of doing that.

He has said who detained him (Obi), Obidients are bringing his court case against FG (the legal chain of command) as evidence that it was not Obi, but the horses mouth has revealed the actors behind it.

I am not Sanwo Olu spokesman or defender so any extra talk is for your pocket. It does not answer the question of James Nwafor, the serial murderer who reigned for years in Saint Obi jurisdiction. A tight AGPA man who AGPA asked Police to recall to Anambra when he was transferred out.

I swear,All of a sudden insults dey kill and more brutal than physical violence which is notorious with APC....

Ibime wey dey quick insult people for their football takes which we watch for fun and have no impact on our lives dey draw the line with insulting people associated with APC that have ruined lives, economy and social well being...

Personal Insults for supporting a particular club, player and coach is ok but insults for supporting a devilish APC party is toxic, you go fear logic na

Yea, same way it was said that Jonathan founded Boko Haram.

As you saw that your attempt to provide a logical explanation for how Obi was personally involved didn't fly, na to revert to horses mouth, with the Horse in question being a character like El-Rufai cheesy

LordAdam16:
You will not survive in these streets if you're an eternal bull or bear.

When the underlying conditions change, act accordingly.

To be clear, I do not discourage saving in $.
But Ibime's call-to-action on the basis of one indicator, admittedly a reliable historic indicator, does not capture the full picture.

Cardoso invited the FPIs to buy TBills at almost 30% yield last year.
That was responsible for the heavy inflows contributing to FX stability later in the year.
It has remained at the current 1500-1600 band, which if you recall is where I recommended Cardi B set up a defensive perimeter.
As opposed to pushing for another hopeless Crusade to a sub-1000 rate.

The FPIs have been cashing out this year as Cardoso signals an end to the bonanza. July rate is around 16%.
That's responsible for the higher-than-average CBN outflows in the first half of this year.
It is technically an intervention, but when you look under the hood, this is different.

In addition, fundamentals are markedly improved.
No more subsidies. Balance of payment surplus is increasing.
We just hit a six-year high on foreign investment inflows.
The geopolitics portend a topsy-turvy near future so there is no danger of a steep drop in oil prices.

Saving in $ is always great advice in Nigeria.
But the premise is just as important as the advice.
The declining reserve juxtaposed with higher CBN outflows is a red herring.
Save in $ (and invest your $ holdings) because it is a smart thing to do.
Not because of the prognostication of an imminent collapse of the rate spurred by the CBN overextending itself.

The how and why does not actually matter

It is a risk-free investment compared to other options

Naira does not have capacity to attack, it only has short-to-medium term capacity to defend, so at worse it stands still in the short to medium term

A risk free investment with almost zero percent chance of downside and good chance of upside is never to be sniffed at.

Miss me with your tunnel visioned school of thought, it doesn’t move the needle. I have absolutely every right to speak against the insecurity in Nigeria (my posts are here for all to see) and at the same time, question the irresponsible decision of an African leader to extend his junta through till 2029.

Nigeria is not isolated from the continent of Africa and part of the issues that have maligned the continent is our indifference to our collective growth as a continent. We are speaking of a continent that can’t ease trade restrictions between neighboring countries to help our respective economies.

If he wants to contest elections, he is well within his rights to do so, if their constitutions permits. However, deliberately weakening institutions, silencing opponent and extending an illegitimate government present a bad taste that holds us back.
ECOWAS & Nigeria have removed economic sanctions imposed on the Sahel countries. They're now adopting an appeasement policy. Easing trade restrictions have nothing to do with the internal or domestic decision of the Burkina Babe government. That depends on the regional bodies.

You should go and preach your illegitimate sermon to the Syrian government which Washington recognized and lifted all economic sanctions imposed on Damascus. Because what is good for the goose is good for the gander. Preach the gospel to Cameroon too.

Nothing concern me with Boko Haram talks

Is there any Governor not personally invested with stymieing opposition movements and structure in election week. You must be born yesterday or totally believe Obi is a Saint to not do what all Governors do in election week

This is an election between Chris Ngige (APC) a highly popular ex-Governor, widely lauded by Anambrarians as their best Governor in the 4th Republic Vs ruling Party PDP (Nwoye) Vs Obiano (APGA) - a battle for the very survival of AGPA

The election was fraught with irregularities, so detaining El Rufai is the least of the crimes committed in that election and a minor footnote to what Obi and APGA did in that election from ballot snatching to thumb printing to no voting in Idemili North which was Ngige stronghold.

From Cameroon, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, DR Congo... You have US conducting economic trade with these countries even though we cannot remember the last time they conducted free and fair election to choose who will lead them. Abi democratic dividends & the Rule of Law is prohibited in this countries ❓❓
No economic sanctions. But once e reach the Sahel countries, una preeq go rise.

User09, it appears the premise of the recommendation is that:

The rate has held steady for about a year.
Further downside risk is low; id est, odds of a firming to <1200 is extremely low (20% down from current levels).
Hence, anyone who was holding back from or feeling queasy about saving in $ because of the intervention can resume saving.

I prefer labeling it savings rather than investment.
Is it near risk-free. Kinda.
But yield is AWOL.

Goes without saying that if you're saving in $: invest in securities. Debt or index fund at least.

Leave what you think I believe.

My point is on what you've chosen to swallow hook line and sinker while ignoring other plausible explanations like PDP protecting the interests of their candidate that came 2nd, or El-Rufai misrepresenting facts like he's been known to do in times past.
