I can perfectly relate. I schooled at Ekpoma And we made this same mistake. Till today after so many years of graduation, i always think twice if I am to visit that town despite the fact that was the town i was raised and schooled in and my parents still reside there. This is because even as you long graduated and no longer reside there, a cult war can come up any moment and God help you someone identifies you as an old cultist that has repented. You will still be hunted and shot to count scores. A friend was killed after graduating many years back. He was married with kids but choose to remain and work as a barrister in the same town he once was an active cultist. He was shot dead by his own wife's younger brother who was a cult leader. It is an evil game that has no rules in playing the game. There is no greater evil that a young chap can indulge in than cultism. The last major cult war in Ekpoma was between Ayes and Maphites. In that war, Maphites killed their chief butcher and another top officer. Ayes retaliated and killed an elderly Maphite who was a well respected member of the community married with kids. His wife is a top officer in the Civil defence in Edo State. Several horrible deaths were recorded until a major clampdown on cult activity was forcibly enacted by the university authorities in collaboration with former repented cultists, Army, Police, New Anticult and Community vigilantes. Up till now there is peace but it only takes a little time before full time cult activities resume.
I wish everyone can seriously take OP advice and stay clear from this evil but the truth remains you will never know how evil this is until you become a part of it. By then it will be too late.

For those of you that still has intentions of joining frat let me fill you in on what to expect during your initiation:

1. The op has already described what to expect during initiation ( for ayes frat)

My Brother there is this incidence that happened in Makurdi around 2000 thereabouts, one NBM guy had an accident in Abuja and died so they brought him back to bury in Benue, we grew up in the same area so it was expedient we attend his wake keep and also burial in one of the non Tiv speaking Local Government areas in Benue.

When it was time to share the word of God this young man that parked his 505 saloon car behind were we were sitting came to share the word of God, this guy was their number one man in Benue State University then(he is from Kogi state), the guy preached so hard that he was even sobbing, he now made an altar call for anyone that would like to make Jesus Christ the Lord of his life, most of us said the prayer of salvation and when he finished the Aye's were hailing him" Pastor J" Pastor Jay, he went back to his car and relaxed, I could see all that was happening in the car because I sat directly behind it.
