The church was planning towards a program, so the pastor made a donation call. The fund was to be used to ludge invited guest ministers.

He decided to categorise the donation from 1m to 500k, 500k to 100k.

He then made a derogatory statement towards anyone who may want to donate below 100k.

"If you know you're in this church and can't give a 100k and above, I don't think you are serious with your life."

So people who may want to donate according to their capacity like: 2k, 5k,10k, 50k..., are not serious with their lives, and have been wasting their time coming to the church over the years?

Yes it was voluntary, but that demeaning statement shouldn't have accorded it.

I wanted to donate above 100k, but that statement got to me and a few others. I didn't wait for the service to end before I left.

That was 4years ago.

Since then, I have been studying the bible on a personal level. God has been blessing me. I still give to charity or individuals I feel really need help.

I have also come to understand very well that, it's not all about church attendance, but WORD attendance. Go for the WORD of GOD. Study it very well. God will proof His efficacy in your frailties.


I know there are some online wardlards with zero achievement that may want to castigate me. Trust me, I careless.

Seeing those pastors saying rubbish in the name of prosperity gospel dey always vex and piss me off, no preaching of salvation anymore, it's all about money money money nothing else haba, no sound doctrine anymore. Buh thank God for Dr. Abel Damina, I listen to his preaching online everytime, it has really reshape my thinking about God, going to church these days is a waste of time

During Covid in 2020, my priest travelled to US for his birthday around February before the lock down, he had the opportunity to return to Nigeria but he stayed back... In the thick of the Covid with death, difficulties and hardship in Nigeria, he was in US chilling and he later started online service.

At that point, I had to have a deep reflection on my life.. I realized I was on my own with my family..The time will spend in church I would rather use it to hustle to provide for my family.
If the Covid virus had ravaged the land with a lot of church members dead, the person we call our shepherd would have safeguarded his own life.


I also stopped because I see churches as building the personal estate and dreams of one individual, while he enjoys a life of comfort and luxury at the expense of members.

I love to but can't help it. The constraints are huge. May God help me.

I'll also say church became a problem instead of a solution. An empty basket that never got filled up. Always making one demand or the other from members. Churches expect members that offer them services to offer these services for free. I know of one incident where the church was owing their designer/printer for over 5 years! Sometimes the man uses his own money to print flyers for the church when the church said they don't have money. But that wasn't the case. The church didn't just prioritise his service. That same church could order sound systems worth 25 million naira from Lagos in 2012 but to pay a member 400k for services rendered was a problem. Churches USE PEOPLE!

Also have you taken time to notice that Christian assemblies are loveless and are just members competing against each other? Nobody gossips like church members. If you 'fall' instead of them to rally around you, they ostracize you and keep you at arms length. The only person permitted to fall and be forgiven is the pastor.

Christians don't love. They only carry out acts of kindness that makes them feel good or show off. Everything and everyone is a prop.

You are very observant. There is no love in churches,only competition. Church is the only enterprise where the employees don't get paid. They just use and dump them.

That competition can make one loose faith but one person asked, why going in the first place, me I love church cos of sermons!

I love hymns too partly because I can understand the words rather than the loud, energetic choruses.

You just made me remember the nonsense a pastor said at a church someone invited me to. During offering time he announced " I don't want to see anything red in the offering box, I hate the colour red"

I asked the lady who invited me what he was talking about and she laughed and said "our pastor doesn't like N100 notes, he expects us to drop like N200 and above. I was shocked.

I asked the lady, what if someone drops a red foreign currency thats far higher than the naira will your pastor reject it?" She couldn't answer the question and started laughing.



I realized I get angry most times I come back from church so it's better I remain in my house.

This are my reasons.

1) I stopped going to church because I got bored and tired of the church services.

The sermons was no longer ministering to me. I go to church empty hoping to be filled but Instead I come back very empty.

I was no longer blessed after going to church.

There was no difference between me going to church and not going to church.

The services became long and tiring.



2) Also I stopped going to church immediately after COVID.
Why?
I realized that COVID happened. Everybody was at home for 3 months+. Nobody went to church yet God stilled heard and answered our prayers.

God protected us during those tough times even without us going to church.

I was waiting for men of God who show power and miracle to their members every Sunday to finally use the opportunity by rising up to perform miracles on infected COVID patients and heal COVID patients but no one did.

God used COVID-19 pandemic to make people realize that they do not need to run to a place to seek him, worship him and even get a Miracle from him.


3) Things became very hard for me while going to church. I graduated Uni, searched for a job, I couldn't get. I struggled financially so much while going to church. I struggled to get a job which I couldn't get. I started a small business. My little business struggled hard. It was as if my prayers will not been heard by God. It was tough. It's still tough. I prayed and prayed yet things didn't change. I just got discouraged.

To be honest, I just got tired and lost interest in going to church.

Why did you stop going to church?

They no longer preach the undiluted word of God. Many of these pastors are now motivational speakers.

The choir no longer sing pleasing songs rather they sing club-like songs.

No one expects perfection but be fair but some of these guys are not fair to their fellow humans but wants to mpress me . I see greed , wickedness and mediocrity everywhere

I realized since the age of six that Bible stories were just stories. Many decades later, I don’t feel any different. Live a good life and help others to your ability. If there is an afterlife, it will take care of itself. You didn’t make any preparation to come into this life. You came into existence because of the actions of your parents before you.
