Overheating Issue On Honda Crv by okpeho(op):
Good afternoon my ogas in the house.
I owned a 2004 Honda Crv and I experienced an overheating issue with the car last week.
The overheating was due to a cut alternator belt which happened around Ido bridge and I managed to drive the car without the belt all the way to Ojuelegba before i realized it was overheating.

After the incident, I started the engine and noticed water bubbling out of the radiator when I opened the radiator cap.
I was advised to change the gasket, which I did, but the problem still persists even after the gasket replacement.
I complained to my mechanic and he suggested that I remove the thermostat and connect the fan directly to solve the issue.

Please, I would appreciate your advice and suggestions on what to do to solve this problem.

No need to run the fan direct yet or remove thermostat.

1. Let your mechanic check the condition of your water pump attached to the thermostat housing. Then replace the thermostat if you can maybe it is stucked closed.

2. Check your fans, they maybe weak, blowing in wrong direction or not working as expected.

3. Check the radiator too, it maybe clogged or expired. It was what caused my own overheating for identical vehicle outright change is the solution, brand-new not Tokunbo.

Checks will pinpoint exactly where the cooling issue is. Also better to use coolant than water in radiator.

Where's your location?
If you can check for leak spots,, water pump and also bleed properly, you'd be able to solve this issue. You need a very good technician to help sort this issue

Once an aluminium engine has overheated to the point of bubbles. Just forget that car

Truth is,the cause of the overheating was never diagnosed, detected and fixed before you had the gasket replaced.

Your technician needs to check cooling system components to detect the cause of the overheating and have it fixed. Removing the thermostat does not translate to fixing the overheating issue, thats just a bye pass.the issue will still remain

You don't have an alternator belt. You have a serpentine belt which drives all accessories including your water pump, so overheating is expected if the belt is not present.

Since the belt was replaced and you still complain of overheating, there is an underlying issue around your cooling components that still requires attention. How long do you drive before you notice the temperature rising above normal? If you are loosing coolant while on the highway, it could also be a leak from small hoses

Okay, thanks for the correction. I can't really remember the time duration but I noticed the overheating when I got to Empire bus stop.

Omo, your eyes was suppose to be on the temperature gauge immediately your belt cut. Some plastic components might be cracked due to high temperature. Check well
