They just held my friends car because the color is blue and the paper said custom.

They've held us hostage for more than an hour because of the issue.

What can we do about it.
Just settle them and go, unless you have someone to call.
The go and correct the error.

If you still at the point, sort them 2k and comot. If you've gotten to station, that is 5/7k problem. Had same issue, because most proof of ownership renewal comes with custom color. Custom means, not definite or standard because you can decide to change your car color next day. I was explaining and educating them on what custom means, but after some minutes, it dawn on me that I was talking to Nigeria police. All these grammar na waste of time. I just do normal and comot. I had to go do affidavit of 5k for wrong color, put it behind the normal papers. To tell you how much I hate talking or explaining things to Nigeria police. The more explanation, the more complicating it sounds to them.
See the best thing is to correct the thing once you notice am, actually custom colour is no color like you said.
So to avoid the police wahala simply correct the error, but the best is to do police clearance for changing of colour.

My fellow comrades. how is the hustle going.
The Corolla car I use to hustle has serious engine problems and I was told the cost of the engine is around 1.2M and I can't afford it at the moment. Does anyone have an idea how much a good Corolla(04/05) engine block cost and is it advisable to get it

You all Experienced drivers, i want to put this question to you.

If taking all short trips of #400+/Per KM like above picture, does it pays at the end of the day compare to long trip of #400+/Per KM.

This always baffles me and i am eager to learn more.

@Omoapena and @Giltronix @Pearl and other bosses. Your tutorials really helped me in this work o. I say to Allah once again to bless you all beyond human comprehension.

While doing all trips i can say i do make about 40k with 20k Fuel. I know it’s not enough in the faces of others but am still learning. It’s why I threw the above Question to the house
When asking question, make it easy for whoever that wants to answer you.

The 40k you "make", is it gross or net or savings?

Gross is before commission
Net is after commission
Savings is after fuel money has been deducted.

But to answer your question on whether those short trips pay, no they don't if you do it too much.

The reason is because, that 8 minutes trip you're looking at there can consume 30 minutes of your time and more. Consider the time you will use to drive to the pickup, the waiting time, plus the uncertainty of Lagos road.

No, Bolt is not more profitable. You have to use both apps now to break even. I'm telling you for a fact... Especially now that indrive is also giving bonus.

For the past 3 weeks, I've not paid much to Indrive. I discovered that most riders book Bolt now after being ignored by Indrive drivers. One was booking from Anthony to Arowojobe Street, Mafoluku and put 3900 naira and no driver was accepting it.

The same trip came to me on Bolt and my net was 3100.

From this analogy I will make same gross at the end of the day but u will use more fuel doing short short trips.

Long trips always pay more.
But be careful not to take a long trip that will hook u and u will have to drive long distance empty back to civilization.

Let's say the time u use in doing 3 short trips is d time u will complete 1 long trip. It means If u do 9 short trips as against 3 long trips...U would have burnt fuel driving empty to pickup on 6 more occasions than if u are doing long trips. Assuming the pickup distance is constant.
So d extra fuel u use to going to d pick up location will reduce ur profit at the end of the day.

Please my people I am new to the business. Just 2 days and I have not been accepting long distance trips like mainland-island yet. I wanna know, who pays for tolls or in cases of parking ticket? The driver or rider? Or is it factored in the trip fare already by bolt/uber/indrive and the driver pays? Thank you as you educate me.

You are right, e-hailing in ibadan is becoming obsolete.
You can go hours parked at an Hotspot without an order coming in.
I don't know how drivers on HP would break even

We all should learn from this. First of all, you don't have any reason to take the car to the owner for inspection on a higher purchase deal. His stake is to be getting his money weekly.

Secondly, when you know you're dealing with a demon, you have to come to the dinning table with a long spoon 🥄

If you can, borrow money and pay up the outstanding amount to the owner of the car. If he claims that it's because you defaulted, tell him you're ready to pay him up outrightly and take a full possession of the car. You can then pay the loan with interest as agreed with the lender.

Those of us that only have to worry about car maintenance don't know the less worry we have.
Your are right about the fact I was not supposed to take the car for inspection as it was nowhere written in the agreement.

The soldier he used convinced me that other cars have been coming for the inspection and it will be done every 2 months.

Because I was not on any default, I didn't suspect anything.

Borrowing money to pay the man off would have been the best, but the thing is I have no where to get such amount of loan.

Shiit, that's a lot. Funny enough, the price of Corolla has really dropped right now. You can get a Nigeria used Corolla for 3.8 million. So that car is currently worth less than the 4 million in the real sense of it.

The last day I went out was last week Wednesday, and below is the break down of the trips. I started the day with a visit to the filing station, and bought 25k fuel.

*First trip
From Idimu-Ejigbo road to Governors road (Igando road end of governors road, not ikotun end)
Duration - 18 mins
Distance - 7.7km
My income - N2,499

*Second trip
From Isheri-igando road to Ikorodu
Duration - 94 mins
Distance - 45km
My income - N9,640

*Third trip
From Ikorodu to Tejuosho market, Yaba
Duration - 72 mins
Distance - 29.8km
My income - N6,337

*Fourth and final trip (The trip was going directly to my area, and I wanted to close for the day...which is the reason I took this ride)
From Unilag/University road to Egbeda
Duration - 65 mins
Distance - 18.6km
My income - N6,069

Total money spent on fuel for the day - N25,000

Total income - 2,499 + 9,640 + 6,337 + 6,069 = 24,545

Real income for the day 24,545 - 25,000 = -455

This means, after working for hours last week Wednesday, I actually lost N455 naira. This is why I decided to stop and re-evaluate things.

So guys, what do you think? Is it my car, or the trips I took?

UPDATE
I guess I should add that I used A/C all through the trips. It was crazy sunny day.
I'm quoting myself. (the quote is from April when I spoke on a bad day driving using InDrive)

When I made the above post, I was just starting this hustle for real in April. After the very poor results I got, I stopped, cos really, my car was chopping fuel, and I was having problem solving the issue (airflow meter). So I sold my manual transmission Kia cerato (2007 model) for 1.8 million, and made half payment for a 2008 Honda Accord. I bought it from a friend for 4 million. I paid 2 million, and we worked out a payment plan for the remaining. It was a great move.

Even though i'm not making money as much as the pros on here, but i'm doing much better. I went from someone that lost N455 after working with 25k fuel for a full day, to someone that used 13k fuel today to make a net of 27k. That's 14k profit. That's not much, but miles better than what I was making when I was using my Kia.

I thank you all for all the advice. It really helped. I'm sure I still picked some bad rides today (judging from the km I covered versus the amount I made), but from tomorrow, I will start using uber or Bolt, instead of InDrive.

God bless you bro and increase your profits. Apart from fuel consumption In my opinion the third and second trips are not good trips.
The fourth one is still ok but the gurus here know better.

I asked my friend that wanted to drive his RAV4 09 on Uber. And his so happy saying he drove on all apps except indrive but he prefers Uber. I'll post his dashboard here as he promised to send two weeks work and the analysis. The guy is very happy ooo.

Bro if u can pls try register on Uber. Someone said what if long pick ups...well u don't have to pick up the long pick ups grin. My guy just dey yap like pro now.

At d end it will all be to our testimony. I'll post it here as soon as he send it to me

Thanks for this. I really don't understand why drivers don't use Uber. The thing dey baffle me. Just ignore the long pick ups but mind you, most times, the pick up distance is incorporated in the total fare. You just need to let the rider know you're on your way.

Nice one baba. Just try to work during peak periods. Ignore the long pick ups. But if you see long pick up with good price baba run am. Especially priority trips, if road to pick up is free.

Do not cancel much, ignore any trip you don't like, only pick requests you intend to complete. Once you're more consistent on Uber, you'll start getting bonus. Uber has the best bonus in the game.

The bolded is why I'm excited to use Uber, I've heard they have the best riders. The only reason I was using indrive is because, I move around a lot for my other business, and instead of blowing empty, I can kill two birds with one stone and carry someone going my way, and that can be done easier with indrive. But the riders can be annoying sometimes...wanting you to carry them to their doorstep knowing the road to their house is really bad or flooded.

The bonus money goes into your account but part of it will be used to settle your commission if you're owing.
