As in.....

You will now see some of them making videos ranting about how they are being objectified/sexulaized as if the whole objectification happened in isolation.

Any lady that put on ring light and camera just to record video of her shaking yansh and post it online definitely knows the kind of attention she's farming. It's commercial attention which someone will definitely need to price.

This is why I said you don't tell.peoppe how to react to the a death of former president. People react based on how his actions and inactions impacted their lives, not how u wish they do.

You may not be directly affected but people who were deserve to express themselves however they deem fit.

Make I drop this one. True life story.

It was in August 2023. My institution was on vacation and I was in Lagos. On that fateful day, around 5pm, I was driving and was stuck in traffic on Ikorodu road.

A young guy selling gala approached at my driver's side, and gesticulated to me to buy. I shook my head and waved my hand indicating I wasn't interested. This guy no leave, instead he tapped on my windscreen and gesticulated for me to wind down the glass. I became annoyed, and in my mind was like, "wetin na, na by force to buy?" So I wound down with the intention to halla for him.

He spoke before I could utter a word, and what he said made me freeze, and deflated my anger and annoyance completely.

He said;

"Sorry sir, I just wanted to greet you. You're my lecturer at XYZ university. You thought me ABC 101 and EFG 111 last session".

With shock on my face, I said "Wow! Which department and what are you doing here"?

He replied; "Anatomy sir. I'm hustling to raise money to pay my school fees, and go back to school on resumption"

Me: You came a long way o. I never imagined to meet any of my students like this. Well done.

The traffic was about to move so I picked my phone. and told him to drop his digits promising to message him later that night

So when I got home, I called him and requested for his aza, and when he sent it, I transferred 10k to him.

To put things in perspective, I live and work in the farthest state in the South east, and this encounter was in LAGOS.

The encounter completely changed my perspective and mindset about the students. It opened my eyes, and made me see their suffering, hustling and what they go through to be in school.

As per our local market here, encounters plenty so make I no go that side.

If one student could cross states to hawk gala in Lagos traffic just to return to school in the East, then there are thousands more like him with stomachs rumbling but hanging on by grit and hope.

That’s why I rate NELFUND and would always commend PBAT for it. It’s not politics but helping the poor, and this kind of help will lessen the burden of parents, enable families re-apportion resources and also make a difference in their lives.

OasisX, you're welcome.
That is the difference between poverty eradication and poverty alleviation

Why does he need to do that?

Are u going to guarantee his security if he does?

What point does he need to prove by entering the state when the Chief Security Officer of the state is saying his security is not guaranteed?

Una supposed dey calm down o. Life no get duplicate.

The fact that a sitting governor says his security is not guaranteed in the state and even the party chairman of APC says the same should tell u that if he enters the state he will be putting himself in harm's way and u will see people justify whatever harm that befalls him.

Shey una no dey learn from history? I have seen fellow Nigerians justify the killings of peaceful protesters after ENDSARS shootings ; they were practically saying the victims deserved it and even cheered Lai Mohammed to go on witchunting for DJSWITCH and other activists who exposed the attrocities of the evil government.

If harm befalls him when he decides to enter the state in defiance to the governor and APC chairman's threat, what do u think will happen?

NOTHING! Abiola was killed in this country and nothing of significance happened ; no justice was served.

ON Buhari: Final
Charles Chidi Achodo

Legacy of Contradicting Public Perception:

President Buhari’s legacy is a complex and contested one. To his supporters, he will be remembered for his personal integrity, anti-corruption stance, and infrastructural investments in roads, railways, and power.

Yet, for a growing majority, his presidency is viewed as a missed opportunity—a tenure marked by economic decline, rising insecurity, poor governance, and the erosion of civic trust.

His administration saw Nigeria’s GDP contract, unemployment and inflation soar, the Naira collapse, and public debt explode. Youth disenchantment reached new heights, and once hopeful citizens increasingly turned to migration, protests, or extremism.

While some praise his integrity, infrastructural focus, and anti-corruption stance, critics argue that his leadership style was aloof, disconnected, and economically regressive.

That his tenure saw Nigeria’s potential stifled by misgovernance, insecurity, and economic hardships. To these Nigerians, Buhari will be remembered as a man who inspired hope in 2015 but struggled to translate that hope into transformative, inclusive progress.

To critically assess President Muhammadu Buhari's administration, one must also consider the exceptionally difficult context that confronted him upon assuming office in 2015.

His supporters are quick to point out that Buhari inherited a fragile economy, riddled with structural vulnerabilities and compounded by an immediate crash in global oil prices—from over $100 per barrel to under $40, alongside a drastic decline in oil production to just 700,000 barrels per day due to renewed militancy in the Niger Delta.

This same context existed when he came in as a military head of state in 1983 - dried up external reserve, skyrocketing external debt and crushing debt/service ratio and a crash of oil price from 45 dollars/b to 8 dollars/b. Some say it is an unfortunate curse to always assume office in the worst of economic downturn! Jixed maybe?

In a rentier economy like Nigeria’s—heavily dependent on oil revenues—such shocks had catastrophic implications for budget planning, foreign exchange stability, and public investment.

Thus, many of Buhari’s policy responses, his defenders argue, were made under tight fiscal constraints and institutional fragility along external shocks outside his control.

Moreover, much of what he attempted—particularly in anti-corruption, infrastructure development, and social investment—required deep structural reforms and time, the results of which may not be immediately visible within an eight-year tenure.

Initiatives like the Treasury Single Account (TSA), IPPIS, NLNG Train 7, and the AKK pipeline are cited as examples of long-term investments that required strategic patience and discipline.

The Health Factor:

An often-understated issue was the president’s recurring ill health, which led to multiple extended medical leaves in the United Kingdom. At times, this created governance vacuums and slowed down policy momentum. Nevertheless, his supporters describe his persistence despite frailty as evidence of personal courage and commitment. For a man in his seventies, with a serious health challenge, to continue steering the affairs of a deeply divided and complex country like Nigeria, is seen as a mark of patriotic resilience.

On Allegations of Religious Bias and Islamization:

Buhari’s tenure also attracted significant criticism over allegations of religious fundamentalism and Islamization agendas—claims that were widely amplified on social media and political platforms. Accusations ranged from bias in appointments, to complicity in the farmer-herder conflict, to attempts to muzzle Christian voices.

However, his defenders argue that such claims are exaggerated, politically motivated, or outright false.

While his administration certainly struggled with ethno-religious balancing, particularly in federal appointments, there is little credible evidence to support the notion of a deliberate, state-led Islamization campaign.

To many, these narratives are politically charged and reductionist, ignoring the complexities of security dynamics and governance trade-offs in a multi-religious and multi-ethnic state.

Supporters often point to Buhari’s reputation for personal discipline, his known distaste for ostentatious religious displays, and the fact that many Christian leaders held significant posts under his administration.

The use of divisive rhetoric around religion and ethnicity, they argue, may have distracted from more valid critiques—such as issues of weak governance, poor economic management, and lack of accountability.

President Buhari's legacy, therefore, is one that defies easy categorization. His presidency oscillated between commendable intentions and controversial implementations, between stability and stagnation, between personal integrity and institutional dysfunction.

While many of his critics see a missed opportunity, his supporters see a leader constrained by history, health, and hostile conditions—yet determined to do what he could, however limited.

In the final analysis, Buhari will be remembered as a man who symbolized hope and discipline, but whose administration often struggled to deliver transformation at scale. For every justified criticism, there remains a context that explains—though not always excuses—the outcome.

Now u get.

Do u know what it means for a governor who has immunity from prosecution for full 8 years to threaten a private citizen's life? It means the governor can actually order a hit on u and even if all evidence points to him as being responsible for the attack, he can't be prosecuted in any law court until he's done with his tenure.

What's the assurance such governor would not be appointed as Ambassador after 8 years which will further confer another round of immunity on him. Such ex-governor can enjoy immunity from prosecution for as long as he remains in the good books of the ruling party while the private citizen's body would've been long rotten under the ground.

I'm sure Obi knows this too and won't try to tempt God by dismissing such threat as empty.

Local government is the closest government to the people and it's important that they are well-funded.

Any President that does what Tinubu did for the LGAs, means well for the populace. The issue now is for those at that level to perform. That's one of the reasons I haven't given up on Tinubu.

Elsewhere, a Governor stylishly scrapped the LGAs by not conducting elections for 7+ years. You won't see me clapping for such leader, let alone supporting him for the highest position in the country.
One year after the Supreme Court made that judgment, it is yet to be implemented. As of today, the federal government still pays money meant for lgas to the Governors not to the Lga accounts directly. Tinubu is a fraud. What are you guys celebrating for when he can't implement it?

This was Obi applauding Tinubu for university 40% IGR reversal: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2023/11/40-varsities-igr-onoh-lauds-obi-over-comment-on-tinubu/ . smiley

Guess the reaction of the mob to Obi doing so.
Bait indeed, instead of you to channel your energy to those that are issuing threats to political opponents, you're looking for who will join you to be praising BAT.

Abi they told you BAT or his minions on the thread were praising Jonathan when he was in government...politics of love indeed.

If BAT needs praise he has more than enough persons in his government doing that already, the job of opposition is to keep incumbent in check, that Peter Obi and others now and again praise policies is commendable enough.

Always barking up the wrong tree.

Was it Tinubu that made the LGAs not to open CBN accounts? Are you aware that some Governors colluded with these Chairmen not to do the needful and made the FG to continue paying to the state coffers?

I hope you know some LGAs are getting theirs directly as we speak. I know your Atiku wouldn't have allowed them the autonomy.

Omo,it seems this contradict the 99yrs federal land use act I read somewhere

“In Yorubaland; especially in Lagos, if we sell you land, we issue you C of O which means Certificate of Occupancy. It isn't Certificate of Ownership. This means even if you buy the land, we can get it back anytime irrespective of how much you get it”.
