The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has described the recent announcement of appointments by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a “desperate attempt to buy back the trust that he has spent over a year squandering, particularly in Northern Nigeria.”

In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC dismissed the appointments as “too little, too late,” adding that “you cannot marginalise a region for over twenty-five months and expect applause because you suddenly remembered on the twenty-sixth month that Nigeria is bigger than Lagos State.”


According to the ADC, these appointments are nothing more than “political panic management,” a frantic attempt to bandage the gaping wounds inflicted on Northern Nigeria by over a year of calculated neglect, presidential arrogance and unprecedented nepotism.

“For over a year, this government turned a blind eye as bandits terrorised villages in the north, as our farmers abandoned their land, and as rural economies crumbled under the weight of poorly thought-out fuel subsidy removal,” Abdullahi said.


“Now, under the rising heat of public discontent, and with the emergence of a formidable opposition coalition gaining traction in the North and across the country, President Tinubu suddenly remembers that there are Nigerians to appoint into positions outside his Lagos.

“Every major decision of this administration, from subsidy removal to a majority of the political appointments, have been taken without the North at the table. Now that the consequences of those decisions have become glaring, the President is doling out appointments as consolation prizes.

“But Northerners as co-owners of our great federal republic know better than to be deceived by these token appointments. They see through President Tinubu’s actions — and can sense that this is not genuine. Tokenism is not inclusion, and symbolism is not governance,” the ADC spokesperson said.

The ADC urged the Tinubu administration to abandon what it described as “Bourdillon-style appeasement politics,” [/b]and embrace real national inclusion through consultation, policy equity, and sincere federal character.

“[b]You cannot patch a broken roof with press releases and photo-ops. And you certainly cannot restore the trust that you have lost with the public by pretending that titles are a substitute for genuine commitment to nation-building.”

ADC has yet to provide us with their plan for improving Nigeria. Instead, they seem to be fostering further division in a country that is already fragmented by constantly bashing the government that still has two years to spend. Is this what we will be seeing for the next two years? If so, i think i need to blacklist everything ADC from my space cos everything that comes out of them is negativity.

It's clear, the ADC is not all about their region's interest but for personal interests.

Imagine PObi and Amaechi greeing to do only one term if given the chance. It means he cares more about becoming a president than needing enough time to fix what he feels is rotten. The people who couldn't fix Anambra State and Rivers during their time as governors.

this same malam bolaji that left the APC because they did not give him ministerial position?

Tinubu may even appoint Abacha son. He is desperate now.

Ayekooto Akindele said on Twitter that having being off the scene for a while, the ADC spokesman is working over time to ensure that Kenneth Okonkwo does not compete with him in his job. This has informed the ADC spokesman releasing statements that are ill-informed, puerile and unprofessional.

He issued a statement that Tinubu used Buhari's funeral for political gains. I am not sure he is aware how many people are offended by that statement. The Buhari family has responded and appreciated Tinubu for honouring their father.

Now, he is saying appointing IBB's son and northerners cannot save Tinubu. He should know that those appointees come from somewhere and their people may be offended that ADC is undermining their people given appointments.

I suggest ADC looks into their public relations approach and give us alternative policy directions instead of these pedestrian submissions.

It's because the party is made up of the same people who were in the APC in the 2013 - 2015 buildup.

These individuals are experts in opposing the government, propaganda, and targeting you where it hurts the most.

Watch them employ the same tactics to the same party, some of whom were still members of just a few months ago.

May they succeed where the PDP and LP failed.

The only problem will be after campaigning, how will they govern?

If in 2027, we start to miss Tinubu like we are currently missing incompetent Buhari, then, Israel should lob one MOAB to end the country.

They were successful because Jonathan was not interested in playing dirty politics with them, but Tinubu is a different person and unfortunately all the ADC top guys can be delt with very easily.

He has not even done anything reasonable in two years . Now he has started seeking reelection.

It shows how unserious he is as a person. So if a term is two years ,he will be seeking reelection on d day of inauguration

The permanent victims and master gaslighters are at it again.

Initially. they said all of TINIBU Tinubu's appointments are going to his people in the southwest. Now that the data is out, they have quickly changed their wailing tone.

These career marginalization victims now cry bitterly that Tinubu did not appoint their tribesmen to head "critical" establishments like FIRS, CBN, NIMASA, ARMY, SSS, NIA, CUSTOMS, NPF, etc.; as if they gave him "critical" votes. In fact the man has been getting critical insults since 2015. They even created an AI picture of him drinking tea with Abacha, to show how desperate they are.

They pretend to have forgotten that when their men GEJ and Buhari were there, they gave the so called "critical appointments" to their own people. They all come online to pretend that "nepotism" started with Tinubu in their attempt to revise history.

These same people sold a lie to a major from the western region that the coup in 1966 was about good governance and gaslighted him to believe the goal was to install Awolowo as prime minister. He did not know that the real plan was to eliminate all leaders of other tribes while they spare their own leaders. The useful e-diot even wrote a book "why we struck" thinking he was part of a noble cause.

If I were not a Nigerian, I'll go to bed thinking "the bandits" were a crowd of militias from either SS or SW Nigeria. Often times these people talk from both sides of their mouth. As much as I have a soft spot for healthy opposition, it becomes a major problem itself when they begin to serve tables in lieu of preaching the gospel (this may sound like a joke though to the ignorant).

These "bandits" are they not part of the political machinery set in place by the Northern hegemony to checkmate the visibly glaring Southern Niger Delta army (who at least, had a reason for fighting for their region seemingly at the onset).

Bolaji, this is disinformation. President 'Bola Tinubu has been appointing Northerners since he assumed the Presidency. It's the over entitlement that's repulsive here.

The Minister for Defence is a Fula, the Minister of State for Defence is a Northerner as well. There are a lot more in other Federal agencies.

Seriously speaking though, reading Bolaji's article feels like he just forced himself to say something. I began to pay more attention to him for the FIRST time EVER before he joined APC from PDP when I read a Punch newspaper article online where he said he once worked as a bus conductor back in the day. He seemed like a humble, altruistic dude and hard-working too. But this post of his is discordant because many Northerners including NNPCL's 'Bayo Ojulari from his own Kwara State have been appointed into various positions including the Fulani Minister of Defence and the Fulani Minister of State for Defence, to the Fulani NSA, etc. I think he should learn to ONLY speak when it's absolutely necessary so as NOT to lose his reputation. Period.
