The new tax law will still have to contend with the VAT ruling in favour of Rivers state a few years ago

That issue is still unresolved
It is a constitutional matter that cannot be solved by a law made by the Federal Government

Tinubu has succeeded in getting all his tax laws through but the part that relates to sharing of VAT may be repealed

Not all states in Nigeria has same advantages of generating same VAT revenue. Just like banks that has branches allover the country, some branches will generate more income through electronic transactions more than the other branches in another while other branches might be wallowing in loss but the overall goal is to generate more or higher revenue.

If oil producing states are getting 13% states that are generating VATs also deserve at least 13%.

Wise man. They should make it each state keep 80% of what they generate including resources from their domain. No federal allocation just pay 20% tax to FG and states should implement infrastructure, security and other things by themselves. A kind of true federalism.
