Lawyer and politician, Kenneth Okonkwo has criticised Edo Governor Monday Okpebholo over his comments on Peter Obi, saying they are unconstitutional and illiterate.

Okpebholo sparked controversy recently when he said that Obi should seek security clearance before entering Edo State.

While appearing on Arise TV’s ‘The Morning Show’ on Monday, Okonkwo referenced a part of the Nigerian Constitution which gives citizens the right to move to any part of the country.

“Let me state what Section 41 says clearly. That every citizen of Nigeria shall be entitled to move freely (FREELY underlined) throughout Nigeria, and to reside in any part thereof…

“If you put it into context with Edo State, it simply means no citizen of Nigeria can be expelled from Edo State or denied entry into Edo State, or exit therefrom.

“And every citizen of Nigeria has the right to move freely in Edo State.

“So, what the governor said is unconstitutional, it is illegal, it is irresponsible, and it is largely illiterate,” Okonkwo stated.

My happiness is that Nigerians support party rather than individual competence, if obi was in apc and happens to be Tinubu anointed son, the present apc robots will not fight him, and the present ADC robots will start fighting him, including El Rufai

The only person that shares absolute respect for obi is Atiku… regardless of what party he’s in, he never had any issue even as opposition.

El-Rufai was locked up in Anambra under the watch of Obi. Obi said El-Rufai has no business in Anambra state that's why he got locked up. But today, Obidients and Obi's as lickers are angry because he's asked to stop doing eye service in Edo state.

See your lopsided view. Are people that have no business with the election in a state allowed to move about on the election day. Even Anambra citizens were only allowed to go to their polling boots. Does hell rufai have his polling boot in Anambra state

But the court said otherwise. The court said he was illegally detained and the DSS was asked to pay him.

You justify why El-Rufai was illegally locked up, but you're angry Obi is told to tread carefully in Edo state where he has no business

Kenneth Okonkwo is the one talking like an illiterate. If freedom of movement is guaranteed in the constitution according to his narrow understanding of law, why are people not allowing Fulani herdsmen to move around freely into any land they see fit, including in his Enugu state. He should have scolded farmers there for trying to deny the Fulani herdsmen their right to free movement.

Okpebholo of Edo state has every right to curtail the movement of Peter Obi if Obi's theatrics poses a security risk as may be assessed by the governor.
