I hardly see this malaria as a deadly illness....but reading this might just change my perception towards it...like what!!!.

Some people think malaria doesn't kill whereas before discovery of antimalarial drugs, malaria was one of the main causes of death.

In this generation, malaria kills as a result of negligence and self medication without seeing a health care professional. People just enter quack "Chemist" stores and buy malaria drugs and some times they don't take the right medications at the right doses leading to drug resistance and complications. That's when some of them go to consult health professionals and in some cases it would have been too late. There are many cases of drug resistance due to the misuse of antimalarial drugs in Nigeria.

Malaria is a very deadly sickness.
People must not joke with malaria because is common.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2023, approximately 569,000 deaths due to malaria were estimated to have occurred in the African Region.

A doctor once told me malaria wouldn’t kill adults who grew up in a malaria endemic environment like Nigeria because the body would have developed sufficient fighting stamina, but can be fatal in children and the elderly. Maybe Uche’s case is an exception.

I once had a resistant malaria that took over 2 months to treat. It was hell.

Malaria was once the defense of Africa against the White man's invasion..

White men died like flies after invading Africa in the medieval times. They had no immunity against the disease.

I read a Biography about Carlo Zappa, an Italian Catholic missionary sent to present Ika an Anioma areas of Delta State for Catholic missionary works in the mid to late 1800s.

In those days, they would send young 10 Rev Fathers and 5 Rev Srs in their early 20s. Within a month, malaria had decimated them, then you would have only 3 survivors to power on the mission.
