When I went for a hair cut yesterday evening, I saw the burial poster of a young woman on the entrance iron lock door of the shop near the barbing shop. I went through the burial poster and discovered that she died at the age of 40.I was inquisitive and asked the barber what happened to her and he told me she was the person that had the shop the burial poster is and she had Sickle Cell and died from it's crisis. She died behind leaving her husband with 4 kids. I was completely broken with what she might have passed through in life. So so sad. I pray light guides her home . Reminds me of a boy who was my friend. He actually made me his friend because he was just a boy. He liked me so much and always told me he is my friend, which people laughed over it. He died at 20 from the same predicament. 76 Likes 3 Shares |

Hmmm this is quite sad. May her soul rests in peace. I just hope the Children are free because the chances is just one out of that four. Hope they free though. I also had a friend and brother at age 43 already oo and still died of the crisis after surviving so many previous crisis and at the period of his life when crisis barely comes he succumbed. Most nigerians don't care about genotype, they are only after physical looks and pocket size, if not why will AS and AS marry, the government don't care, the citizens too don't care, just marry and born, then your kids will suffer from sins they didn't commit because you choose not to do the needful before getting married. 6 Likes |

I think our religious leaders are the major culprits in the spread of this Sickle Cell thing. Rather than tell their congregation the truth, they deceive them with the "God can do all things" speech. RIP to the young lady! 3 Likes |

guobe:The rural areas and the uneducated are the worst, some don't know what genotype means, and in most cases, they will never agree to anything you say, unless their religion head approve of it, so going there to speak about the dangers of AS marrying AS wouldn't work, you might even be hated and mobed cause they'll see you as a wicked person for trying to stop people from marrying and mating, same was the case when family planning was introduced. Even some graduates have no idea what genotype means, just make money, then marry and start breeding. 1 Like |
