Renowned human rights activist, Comrade Obawolu Adedoja Aanu, has died in Lagos.

According to sources close to her, Aanu collapsed at the entrance of her residence on Saturday evening after returning from her business premises. Despite immediate efforts to help, she was confirmed dead shortly after.

Aanu was widely recognized for her passionate advocacy for social justice and human rights.

She was actively involved in several civil society organisations, including the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, CDHR, and the People’s Conscience, among others.

A fellow activist who spoke on condition of anonymity expressed shock over her sudden demise, describing her as a “vibrant, tireless comrade who was deeply committed to the cause of the oppressed”.

“She was returning from her shop when the incident occurred. Her energy and commitment to civil society engagements will be greatly missed,” the source said.

Until her death, Aanu was a visible and vocal participant in protest marches, policy dialogues, and grassroots advocacy focused on promoting transparency and accountability in governance.

Her unexpected death has left a deep void in Nigeria’s human rights community, with tributes pouring in from colleagues and advocacy groups across the country.

Go for a test, check your organs, do a CBC, ultrasound, X-rays, check your prostrate, do a pap smear and know your HIV status. These are very important. Don't joke with your health.

Yes a person can be too old for marriage but too young for death. The difference is in societal expectations and life expectancy.

For example, a ten years old boy is too old to be in primary one but too young to be in the university.

I fell ill 4days ago.slept In trenches got a nite for a big fool who refused to leave the trenches despite cashing out .I got beaten by mosquitoes as soon as gen off. I feel ill .got cold.cattarh,took drugs but did not exercise.it was after 3days I did almost 15000 steps with 2 bottles of beer with asun.omo the fever seize immediately. Me sef fear. Exercise too good .no be everytime person go drive
And when I mean 3xercise.no be that useless threadmill. Waka amongst crowd. Sweat....pause.bend .sit.rise. the sickness must vanish
