A landmark in Nigeria’s energy sector is set to go live as the 1250MW power plant spearheaded by Dr. Deji Adeleke, billionaire businessman, is now fully completed and ready for commissioning.

Adeleke, speaking on Sunday in Ede, Osun State, at the 11th undergraduate and 7th postgraduate convocation ceremonies of Adeleke University, said work has been completed on his 1250 megawatt power plant located in Ajebamidele, Ondo State.

According to the renowned businessman and Pro-chancellor, Adeleke University, the only step remaining is the connection of the power plant to the national gas grid.

“The powerplant is ready, I am only waiting to be connected to the gas grid to start generating power. That plant will employ over 2,000 engineers and other associated workers,” Adeleke said.

Once operational, it will rank among the largest power projects ever undertaken in Nigeria, marking a significant boost to the country’s electricity generation capacity.

This bold investment by Adeleke reflects renewed private sector confidence in Nigeria’s infrastructure space.

His 1250MW power plant also signals a major progress towards tackling the nation’s long-standing energy deficit.

This is a good news. The transmission and distribution needs to be upgraded too. We're not transmitting and distributing all the power we're generating.

I don't know who writes these power articles without mentioning the source of energy.

Anyways, this will significantly improve power supply. It should be fed to people and companies that can afford it so they don't run it like NEPA power stations.

The country is going to be on a great ride in the coming months. The economy is going to be largely private sector driven, one of the biggest drive of the reforms of the current administration. A power sector driven by private investors in accordance with the new electricity law whereby state governments are in charge of generating and distributing power within their respective states.
An oil sector driven by private investors where private refineries are being built for fuel production and distribution. Already Dangote is taking charge of bringing logistics closer to the consumers with 4,000 CNG Trucks.

A maritime and blue economy where private investors are building port terminals. Indigenous investors are now building local vessels that are delivering maritime services both home and international, the first of its kind in the history of Nigeria. Reforms are not magic but a process.

2027 presidential election victory is sure for Tinubu. What most of those ignorant peddlers don't know is that reform comes with its challenges but president Tinubu has taken an audacious move and his eyes are fixed on the economic prosperity these reforms will usher in.

If Tinubu could step in and attempt to take credit for Dangote refinery that started under GEJ while being unable to supply crude, is it one power plant he wont claim?

Yekiniology.

This thread have been overrun by APC paid online influencers trying to give credit to Tinubu government for a private company project that started before Tinubu became president. All these wouldn't change the fact that Tinubu government have nothing to show despite removal of subsidies leading to the government been awash with money.

Everything started under Gej/Pdp but never got completed or was totally abandoned until buhari/tinubu/apc.. That's an indictment on pdp for grand corruption and incompetence to deliver on almost all the capital projects.

Buhari finished 2nd Niger Bridge which stalled under Gej despite Crude oil prices very high. Just imagine. undecided

Pdp's corruption mo for projects was to start them and never complete them then loot the money and restart them.

True.
But the challenge over the years has always been our Distribution network.

It is one thing to Generate. It is another thing for what was generated to be efficiently/optimally picked up and distributed to the end users.

This is where the challenge lies.

This is exactly where the FG comes in. They should upgrade the distribution infrastructure.
Make it easier for the Discos to be able to distribute what the Gencos generated optimally.
