Not an issue. Don't even over think it. Change any street to your forefathers name. Provided no ones property or land is touched in the process |

One of the first things President Trump did after inauguration was change the name Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America. He didn't stop at that, he had proposed fencing America against Mexicans and has been hunting them like animals in his administration. Of course they have been a nuisance. Mostly involved in drugs and all kinds of crimes. |

Won't be a problem if other regions follow suit. Yoruba people aren't the only people to have groups |

Lilyliverrd cowards do not go to war, a good example is Ojukwu that scamper out of the country to Ivory coast in woman wrapper when he heard the Nigeria army led by Obasanjo are at his door step. T9ksy: |

Great.. take back what rightfully belongs to Yoruba people. O to ge! They should write IGP to warn Ohaneze to stop interfering in Yorubaland affairs because they are not natives of Yorubaland.. Yorubas share no ties, links or boundaries with the Igbos, so they should stay off our affairs. A Yoruba person from Togo or Benin Republic has more rights in Lagos and South West than an Igbo that crossed the river Niger into South West. |

jmoore:You know that you are not being truthful ![]() If there's no visitor status, there wouldn't have been "oso Abiola " when Igbos flee Lagos en masse during our June 12, 1993 presidential election result annulment struggle on the assumption that it was all over for the Yoruba. Yoruba fought valiantly to defend their land and overcame those who wanted to destroy Lagos and Yorubaland. Igbo returned later to meet a safer and prosperous Lagos. Even till date, Igbo people know that they are on a visit and you always tell your people back home. You will pack your bags and leave Yorubaland again, God forbid, anything untoward happens. Quit the hypocrisy.

You have done commendably well and nobody is opposing the renaming of street to whatever or whoever. It is our Yorubaland.. The matter is now at rest. You are free to bring it up again in 2027 for propaganda effect in order to favour Tinubu during elections..However it will fail. We right thinking Yorubas will be voting out Baba Bulalar and Bulabadeens. |

99% of those shouting our LAGOS can't even afford to LIVE in the LAGOS and when they do, they are dregs of society. That is why Sanwolu deported them back to OSUN and OYO .jmoore: |

First thing to do is Change Lagos back to Eko. Start Nigerianizing things in Nigeria I'll love Portharourt to adopt a name exclusive to that region. It was named after Sir Lewis Vernon Harcourt who named it Portharourt in the absence of Local Name in 1913. Now wey local name can be created. It should be renamed. And even when they claimed there was no local names for the region then. THEY LIED, THEY JUST WANT TO CREATE AND IMPOSE THEIR PRINTS ON US |

Dalohad:Chidi, wanting all streets in SW to be named after Igbos doesn't make you a 'right thinking Yoruba person's Nowhere in the book of logic does cultural preservation and territorialism makes one being 'wrong thinking ' You aren't more Yoruba than those who wanted something different. You aren't smarter than them either. |

Igbos are already planning to rename all streets bearing yoruba names in southeast Igbo land. You do me, I do you, God no vex. |

esnbrutality:When Anambra state government changed Abakaliki street to a local name, you people were blind and deaf then. No outsiders should dictate to the indigenous people how to run the affairs of their land so far they're within their territory. |

jmoore:That thinking, that existed in the days of our grandfathers, is dead now because of the covetous, malevolenty expansionist and ingrate antics of you guys. You people, covetously rapacious and predatory in the land of others, while horrendously clannish and unwelcoming to "outsiders" in your region, opened the eyes of other Nigerians to the folly of their previously foolhardy belief we are "one" and "united". Those who welcomed you to thrive and succeed in their land, while you remained unwelcoming and inhospitable in your region, suddenly notice you now call their land , ungraciously, "no man's land". You shout you "developed" their land and have bought "99% of all properties" in the domain of "lazy, unambitious and owambe-loving Yorubas". If you remove you investment "Lagos will crash overnight" etc, etc Meanwhile you make these truly troubling and hateful claims against one of Africa's greatest, most intelligent, most successful, most innovative, most hard-working, most influential and most respected ethnic group that is arguable her most outstanding and laudable in the diaspora and outside Africa. Yet you wonder why we are where we are today without been able to see you and your people are the cause? |
| Re: Street Names: We Will Not Outsource Our Birthright To Settlers – Yoruba Group by WizardOfNG: 5:52am On Jul 22, 2025 |
helinues:Indeed. What they don't understand , and remain ignorant of, is the undisputed fact that Yorubas, though modest, are arguably the greatest of the four major ethnic groups of Nigeria (Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Fulanis) because of their achievements inside and outside Nigeria. Igbos alone, of at least 300 ethnic groups in the SW, have been the ones to constantly fight, belittle and insult Yoruba over the modest success they enjoy in the SW because they lack the grace and gratitude to respect good, hospitable and tolerant folks. They see those folks as mumus God has given them the divine right to "dominate" according to ther forefathers like Azikiwe, Charles Onyeama etal. It was inevitable and only a question of time, in the face of ungracious and needless provocation, before Yorubas begin moving to show Igbos that they are successful and thriving in the SW by our grace and benevolence and not the delusional superman capacity they ascribe to themselves. Make your bed then lay in it without complaining. |

So, why are you telling us? ![]() As you changed the street names, is that an issue? Abi you will also collect the land you sold as well? As you guys evil wish on Igbos living in Ghana didn't work. The topic to trend now is changing of street name ![]() You will keep lamenting Shey tinubu will rule at maximum of 6 years and step down. Let's see the region that will ever align with you again as you have shown the whole Nigeria your true color. |

Bendeco02:Yes, Tinubu's stay in power will end. Hopefully though, he would have succeeded enough decentralising power and processes so we will all be in independent and autonomous control of the socio-economic considerations of our region. We will see what will the fate of you covetously expansionist and ungrateful "developers" at that stage. |
