Had to check if they were talking of 3.5m, 3.5b gone in a year? That’s tuff…..they’re mansions in Abuja in high brow places for less than 400m, be like everybody dey Lagos on this board
Below was what Elder explained as what he meant by his intial statement post that led to this discussion

Here in Nigeria, $2 million puts you in god mode. You’re hiring staff, living in a mansion in a high brow area, riding in a convoy with drivers, security, and assistants. You eat at the “best” places, travel when you want, get VIP treatment everywhere, and flex on half the country without breaking a sweat.

Meanwhile, in the US, $200m still comes with rules. Taxes will eat a chunk. Labor is expensive. Luxury has boundaries. Privacy is respected, and they don't worship money excessively the way we do here. You’re rich, yes, but you’re not royalty.[/b]
I know u are smart and a fair sense of judgment on what it would cost to afford the lifestyle he mentioned up here. Please tell me, do u honestly believe in Nigeria of today a man worth total sum of 3 billion in landed assets and cash at hand will be able to afford this "lifestyle"?

I am giving u the freedom to answer the question either using Abuja knowledge , PH knowledge or Lagos knowledge .

Mansion, 400m and highbrow area in the same sentence? You might wish to recheck what those things mean before you make an even worse goof than elder.
If 400million naira no build house in 1st and 2nd Ugbor road,Benin GRA,I no go send Ogun give okepobholo

Growing up, Omole phase 1 was an "high brow" area before magodo and Lekki sprung up with notable stars and celebrities living there, you can still get a house for that amount there....

Like , he really doesn't know how much those things cost. Some of us dey see invoices of those vehicles and we dey gasp say see wetin people dey put for road o.

The cost of running a retinue of security agents that will be seeing to his travels will burn a sizeable part of the money he thinks is big money. Except he's suggesting the kind of "king"he wants to be will be one who rents luxury vehicles and security escorts anytime he steps out.

He also mentioned traveling when you want and VIP treatment. By that I'm assuming he's referring to charter of private jet because I believe that is what will guarantee him traveling anytime he wants and not having to defer to a commercial airliner.

You can honestly do all of this in Nigeria with 3b naira, nothing up there is too extreme, you’re definitely not the politician level rich but you’re a proper big man, Nigeria is a poor country flexing on people don’t actually require too much, the main thing is are you just sitting on the $2m or they’re in investments yielding returns, anybody could go broke but in the society we are today, 3b puts you up there above majority of the society because those are in themselves luxury

He simply said "With $2m in Nigeria you can live the sort of life people worth $200m in the US are living.". To me this means the person is worth $2m in assets, cash at hand and in goodwill.

So u are saying a person worth $2m will live in a mansion(The value of which is inclusive in the $2m), he will own at least one luxury vehicle , have at least two security pickup trucks, have at least 8 security officers in his security details, will be able to fly anywhere anytime , buy VIP treatment for himself anywhere he finds himself ,etc all inside his networth of $2m?

Pray tell, which commercial city in Nigeria will he be able to achieve all of these?

Just few months back the argument was 95% of Nigerians won't see up to 160million in their lifetime now we are seeing 2million dollars won't make you live a lavish lifestyles in this same country. grin
It’s honestly surprising. In a country where the federal government itself admitted that 90% of the population don’t even have #500K in their bank accounts, some people are trying to argue that $2m (#3.6 billion) isn’t a big deal?

No matter how they spin it, that kind of money is more than enough to live like a king in Nigeria. You don’t need to live in Ikoyi or Banana Island to live well. Comfort, security, respect, and influence are all easily within reach. In a country where poverty is the norm, $2M doesn’t just set you apart, it puts you in a completely different league if you know how to use money.

More like rent for specific occasions only. Then it's doable.
Otherwise you'd have to find a way to get the government to pay for it, not out of pocket.
An appointment or getting a top brass to assign a security detail.

I do think if you practice stealth wealth, you can live really well with $2m.

You guys are not getting his point. Maybe it's because he's using the dollar figure.
$2m is approximately 3.5 billion naira. That is indeed enough to guarantee you the life of a king in Nigeria. You can build a correct mansion with like 400 million naira in the lesser high brow and enough to maintain your wealth while being able to afford premium healthcare in Nigeria.

Yeah his comparison with that of $200m is far fetched. But the main point stands that the lifestyle of 3.5 billion naira is better in our own dysfunctional society to it's equivalent in the USA where you're still very much in check by the society.
You're one of the few who actually understood the core of the argument. It’s not about converting dollars and comparing bank balances, it’s about quality of life relative to environment. #3.5 billion here puts you in a different league entirely. Thanks for breaking it down clearly. Much appreciated. 🤝

$2M is “small money”? Okay, cool. But let’s not forget the federal government constantly begs for aid from foreign countries, and many of those aids don’t even hit $2M. Yet we’re here downplaying it like it’s lunch money.

Let’s not kid ourselves. Give your state governor #200 million and watch if he won’t personally call to thank you. But sure, according to this thread, everyone’s a dollar multi millionaire. No wahala. Let’s keep the cruise going. Lol. smiley

They know what they're doing. cheesy
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by TemporaryHansel(m): 11:31am On Jul 22, 2025
If you claim that someone can’t be seen as elite or live like a king just because they don’t live in Ikoyi or Banana Island, then let’s also agree that people living in Ikoyi are nobodies once they step into places like Florida or New York, because out there, no one cares who they are.

Even Raumdeuter admitted that Arthur Eze is considered elite and treated like a king here in Nigeria. But let him land in New York, no fanfare, no red carpet, just another man on the street. That’s because living like a king is subjective. It depends on context, not location. There’s no one-size-fits-all standard for it.

You don’t have to live in Ikoyi to be considered important. My uncle is a literal king, a traditional ruler. He’s my grandmother’s brother/sibling . He doesn’t live in Ikoyi, but does that mean the staff the state government gave him is suddenly invalid? Is he no longer a king because his address isn’t in Lagos?

Nigeria doesn’t begin or end in Lagos. With $2m, you can live like royalty in many parts of this country. In places outside Lagos, #3.5 billion isn’t just wealth, it’s dominance. That’s more than enough to build legacy, influence, and real power.

Let’s stop measuring success by postcode.

Lmao. He say I dey shift goal post, I only repeated what u said and tried to paint a vivid picture of some of the things u referred to as "king's lifestyle in ur previous post. I wanted him to be sure he knows the value of those things in monetary terms and not just assuming "e no no supposed pass xxxxx million naira"

As for u, I have no time to waste trying to show u how impossible ur fantasy is.

One thing u should know if u dey see money like u claim is that most of the people u see "Living like kings" are actually worth more than the $2m u are referring to.

U may know this and refuse to accept in order to save face, but it is what it is.

The issue with you is that you view everything through a Lagos lens, as if Lagos defines the entire Nigerian experience.

I know plenty of people living that kind of lifestyle. Some might be worth more than $2M, sure, but many of them aren't even close to that figure. Even my own dad, back in the day, had a convoy with security guards in their own vehicle following him around, and he wasn’t even worth $300K.

Just because certain things aren’t common in Lagos doesn’t mean they don’t happen elsewhere. Nigeria is bigger than one city, and the cost of influence or perceived “elite” status isn’t uniform across the country.

Let’s be honest, we’re probably never going to agree, because we’re clearly speaking from two very different realities. And that’s fine. But at least acknowledge that your experience isn’t the national standard.

The way u make assumptions and jump into conclusions needs to be studied. That I don't come here to be announcing the number of states I've been to in this country does not mean I don't move around. No dey talk like small pikin say I only see things through the lens of Lagos when u don't even know the state I'm typing presently.

U can see up there that when I was responding to bluelines I asked him to answer using the lens of PH, Abuja and Lagos being major commercial capitals where things dey really happen for this country. U don't expect us to be talking about living premium elite lifestyle and I will be using Ibadan , Jos,Kano, Asaba or Umuahia as the base location. It's not like those states don't have upper class neighbourhood/GRA but we are discussing based on the parameters u set in ur initial post.

U literally painted a luxurious lifestyle that fits what the everyday life of an extremely rich individual will be in an upscale part of any of the major commerical cities in Nigeria. U are only trying to be clever by half when u want to make this about Lagos vs other states . Premium lifestyle is premium lifestyle when we take away the pricey amount charged in the real estate sector in Lagos.

The amount u will buy a 2024 Landcruiser Prado, security escort trucks and payment for security personnel in Lagos is the same amount u will buy it in PH. The cost of travelling anywhere in the world (which u claimed is part of what the $2m will fetch u) is the same whether u are based in Lagos or PH or Abuja. Scratch that! The amount u will be spending on Security in PH will most likely be higher than what u will spend in Lagos. I go to PH often and I see various companies always having their Security team on standby at the airport waiting to pick their expatriate and national staff who fly in regularly. The fear of Niger Delta boys is the beginning of more security budget.

I know u are one of those people who look at a particular sum of money and just assume it should be able to do x, y and z without actually putting a figure to those items. That's why I understand why u are making this kind of assumptions sha. For example, look at u assuming that because "ur dad had security escorts back in the day while worth way lesser than the $2m, that means the $2m can do all of the aforementioned and more over 20 years later" Do u understand time value of money?...... grin grin

This is the crux of the matter, and the focus on Lagos, Abuja. It is very doable outside your Highbrow Lagos & Abuja environment. Apart from first class kings and a handful of Kings, Majority of these Naija King's aint rolling in billions.

Putting N2B on TBills means you collecting over $200k to spend yearly which should cover 1st/Biz class foreign travels and expenses. You can live like a king but might not be able to buy your side chick lambo.

Format your statement properly cos I am trying to reason this Math

The cost of top end vehicles in Lagos is not different from outside Lagos, Same as electronics and gadgets, same as travels
The main difference between cost of living in New York, Lagos and village is cost of Labor

Arthur Eze G-wagon in Enugu will not be cheaper than Otedola G-wagon in Lagos

To live like a big boy break down how much you spend on high end cars alone plus cost of travels, cost of gadgets and other things that show you to be a big boy and lets see how much of the $2m remain
