Why Atiku Hasn’t Officially Joined ADC — Vanguard by Islie(op): 11:17am On Jul 22, 2025
By Luminous Jannamike

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has yet to formally complete his move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) after resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) last week, a close source has revealed.

The delay appears to be deliberate, with Atiku reportedly planning to carry out the registration in person rather than through a representative.

Speaking in confidence to Vanguard in Abuja last night, the source explained that Atiku’s recent travels were the main reason for the hold-up.

He returned to Nigeria for the burial of the late President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, coming straight from a business trip abroad. From Daura, he travelled back overseas for a planned two-week break,” the source said.

The source added that joining a new party—especially for a figure of Atiku’s stature—requires his physical presence.

For someone as high-profile as His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, people need to physically see him picking up his membership card and completing the formalities. Once he returns from his break, that’s one of the first major things he is expected to do,” the source explained.

He also noted that Atiku understands the symbolic importance of the move, which could shape political alliances and public perception ahead of the 2027 elections.

Asked about the likely timing, the source said the registration would likely be planned for maximum media visibility and political impact.

Although the exact date remains unconfirmed, the source insisted that the move is imminent and that Atiku’s formal entry into the ADC will signal a major new chapter in opposition politics

He will contest again and still lose. However, he'll be the flag-bearing candidate of ADC. Obi has lost his spot in LP and can never secure a presidential candidacy spot in ADC.

Hmmm that is very serious o..

What will now be the fate of obi? He might not have a choice but to deputize Atiku.

But many of his followers have said they will not vote for him if he deputize Atiku. Too bad.

Lmao!

Nobody is getting the ADC ticket apart from this desperado.

Obi will be played just like they did to Wike.

That is why the coalition is called the Atiku-led coalition.
Re: Why Atiku Hasn’t Officially Joined ADC — Vanguard by ThothHermes: 11:43am On Jul 22, 2025
He's waiting for them to promise him the ticket. This man just wants to be president by force.
Obi is the chosen one Sir.
Re: Why Atiku Hasn’t Officially Joined ADC — Vanguard by ogaontop(m): 11:44am On Jul 22, 2025
He's still weighing his options first, to make sure he's given a ticket.
His body language is that of one that will float another political party if not given ADC ticket!

Well-meaning Nigerians are anticipating the movement of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar into the ADC.
Tinubu and the APC have really messed up Nigeria and his re-election will further bury the country.

Is his destiny tied to Aso Rock? Why can't he support a younger candidate?
Re: Why Atiku Hasn’t Officially Joined ADC — Vanguard by nitt: 11:48am On Jul 22, 2025
Anyone but the APC in 2027.

Rewarding failure with re- election has to stop in this country.

If ADC fails too, we change them and it continues like that

Politics in Nigeria is just a game, even Him Atiku knows when to stop or not. Don't you forget they all have people backing them with the finance and power every 4 years👂
Re: Why Atiku Hasn’t Officially Joined ADC — Vanguard by WesleyPepper: 11:51am On Jul 22, 2025
Atiku is currently in a German hospital. He should go and look after his health . We saw him limping and panting during Buhari’s funeral . The nonagenarian should give up on his pipe dream .

He should give his support to Peter Obi if he is indeed a statesman.

Abi no be so my friend Emeka Aminda ?
Re: Why Atiku Hasn’t Officially Joined ADC — Vanguard by DMerciful(m): 11:54am On Jul 22, 2025
Why are you crying more than the bereaved?

If Obi has lost his spot, how's that your business?

An 80year old man not wanting to accept the fact he can't ever be president.
If Atiku so loves Nigeria he should allign behind Obi and play the role of a godfather and in the nature of politics everyone would understand if he gets to have a say in some Obi's appointments. That's the price every politician must be ready to pay,if you must wrestle power,be ready to dine and concede some posts to someone you wouldn't ordinary want to.
Atiku doesn't have a path to the presidency:he would lose the entire SE to Obi,even if Obi makes the fatal mistake of being his vice SEasterners would rather stay at home than vote an Obi VP ticket;lose Lagos,Abuja,Kano,Katsina, the entire NE and almost the entire SW now that Adeleke wants to port and Oyo governor has his own ambitions.
Wike would easily rig him out of the core SS states of Rivers,Delta and Akwa Ibom with massive margins. So where will he get the votes?
But here is Obi's path:the entire SE,at least half SS,including Rivers if Wike's rigging machine there can be stopped, viz Edo,Delta,Cross Rivers, maybe Akwa Ibom.
Obi would win Lagos and Abuja again
He wins Taraba,Benue,Nassarawa,Plateau with impressive votes in Kano,Kaduna.
The margin of Tinubu's victories in the SW states would be wiped out by those of Obi in SE.
So vote tallies would be tied, leaving the deciding states to be those of Katsina,Bauchi,Yobe,Borno, and this is where Atiku's support can tip the margins not for votes per se but to use his financial muscle to prevent manufacture of large margins in such states that would tip the election to Tinubu
Why would any reasonable person vote Atiku, the devil you don't know,in place of the devil you already know in Tinubu,if Obi is not on the ballot, knowing Atiku's path is almost non existent and his presidency risky?

He simply wants to be the presidential aspirant in ADC. So he is doing his calculations properly before joining the party.
Yes,' Calculation Properly' -that is allowed , afterall it's a Democracy - where Many PATROTIC NIGERIANS die e.g MKO,Pa Relwane, etc, for during the Military Junta Rule but Nigerians will Not Allowed those who have Nothing to Contribute - to
OR
•those who have LOOTED THE COUNTRY BEFORE - When They Were In Govt' -through their Divisiveness of -'Divide and Rule' OR
-Are planning to come through the- Back- Door into Nigeria!
Just TRUTH and FACTS.
Re: Why Atiku Hasn’t Officially Joined ADC — Vanguard by FreeSpirited: 12:01pm On Jul 22, 2025
ADC will break down before it starts anything meaningful because the agendas aren't sincere... They are all selfish.
And Obi is the only politician in Nigeria that can give ADC a national appeal. If Obi leaves, ADC falls yakata to a mushroom party.
..
Since it's not certain Obi will allow himself to be used, this old man is also calculating.. Lol

Atiku is greedy at old age.
The signs are there.
He wants to contest.
But,he will not win not because of rigging or manipulation but because its South to complete it's turn.
Capisce?

I don't really understand these Nigerian politicians, they're never satisfied. Tinubu also wanted to be president by all means, desperation was hovering around him before he became president.

Atiku and Obi are doing same thing now, the annoying thing is that Nigeria will still remain underdeveloped after they leave office.
