Add Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company Ltd. (SEEPCO) to that list, also owned and managed by Indians. One of the biggest upstream oil company in Nigeria. Most especially the Imo and Rivers state branches, I recently quitted the company as a tanker driver due to hard labor and low salary.

Are you paying dues to labour,it is only the government workers that pay dues to labour, so why are you ranting
Ikaeniyan0:
Please do not blame only Indian owned factories. Even Nigerians are not getting paid well in Nigerian owned factories.

I'm always surprise the labour union and Labour minister are not looking into the poor pay Nigerian factory workers, securities in banks/factories, drivers, housemaid, bartenders etc are earning.

Labour law mostly work in favour of government workers in Nigeria

I hope you also investigate the Nigerian agents who caused all these by making sure the Indians make all employments through them and original salaries paid are slashed making the workers end up with the peanuts. Ask Kimberly Clark that has shut down how much they originally wanted to pay factory floor workers and what Nigerian agents did

I have said it here and would say it again. NLC/ TUC are the most useless organizations ever, those guys are more terrible than even politicians . You can never see them in this type of debate or struggle. Since it won’t bring out money for those corrupt lots.
If you like blame government again as usual, since that’s the easiest thing to do.
But then who do you blame? What can Labour do when Ministers/Senators and other government officials are the ones behind the setup of such factories in the country in the first place.
Trump is putting strict laws to safeguard America from foreigners who come through porous borders. And he is making sure he achieves that. We need a President who is ready to work and give directions if not, nothing works.

NLC president will not see this, but will be fighting Tinubu up and down for political reasons. Leaving his core mandates for ethno-political fightings
How much Is tinubu paying?

N1,700 based on minimum wage of 70k a month.

Our labour unions are not working if they see such opportunities they will just go and make money out of it, seriously our people are suffering because of very bad leaders
But tinubu is paying Nigerian workers less. 70000 by 30days is N1,700 a day

That's why I will always maintain my stand that most union leaders in Nigeria are opportunist. They see their leadership as an avenue to enrich themselves. Most often these Asians get away with this atrocities with the active conaviance of the union. They just look the other way.

Blame the sense less Nigerian leaders who fail to prioritise wellbeing of Nigerians but focus on their own selfish ends. How do you expect foreigners to treat us with dignity when our government and people fail to treat us well?

Both government and private employers in Nigeria pay peanuts to Nigerian employees, so you shouldn't expect much from foreigners. Even the so called missionary organisations that are supposed to blaze the trail in protecting human dignity have since joined in enslavement of Nigerian workers!

It's too bad! Why can't the government emulate the western societies where workers are paid uniform wages across board? There should be uniform wages for workers be they private, government or missionary employment. I wonder why non of our senators has ever thought it necessary to sponsor bills to make wages uniform for Nigerian workers across all sectors.

Hmmm is. Very Pathetic....

This reminds me about my Journey to China civil company in Lagos State where I was called for a job interview, initially the Chinese man told me there is accomodations since I was coming from a far place and needed where to sleep for the interview the next day ..

On reaching Oshodi around 6:30pm, the Chinese man off his phone, got me stranded , I had to sleep somewhere...

When I finally located the company the following day, he only apologized that his phone went off....lols 😂 😂 in a company where there is almost 24 hrs light...

The interview started and I had to ask them how much they pay graduates that was 2016 or so, and I was told 30k....with no accommodations after I asked and the roles they told me I will be undertaking is like paying an ant the job of an elephant...

I had to find my way immediately, returned to my base to continue my works ...

It will only be getting better .....I don't have time for Nigerian government..

Is it Indian companies only? Why blame them? Why not the FG or Governor that beg them to come as investors and operate without restrictions or regulations? Why not blame the locals that welcome them on the grounds that they will bring jobs? Jobs they wished for jobs they got ..why complain? Slavery?... ..yes .. I see slavery ... mental slavery. At Africans were taken to the West Indies as slaves...how did they get their freedom? ...by wailing and complaining? .. or by revolution? Blacks were treated as second class citizens in the US ... similar to this situation...how did they get Civil Rights?...the rights we now go to the US and enjoy? ...by wailing and complaining? There is nothing in this report that calls for protest ...a shut down of the work place ..demand for improved pay and working conditions ... a sabotage of the industry ... bringing fear to the expatriates instead of the expatriates bringing fear to the locals. Grown men ...free to go home and organize ... and return in force ... be complaining like sissies....some even being slapped around by their bosses ...their wives sexually abused and do nothing because we need the job. The Indians will continue to do what they do as long as they can get away with it.

The country have failed them.
Indian and Chinese company's in Nigeria are taking advantage of our failed government institution.

Where is the Ministry of Labour?
What about the TUC and NLC?
See their staff working without Safety wears. Using bathroom slippers to carry heavy irons and do industrial work.
Nigeria is a failed state.
The Indians and Chinese men knows they will get away with it.
All our politicians know is to loot and campaign for reelection.

Because government workers have strong unions that make noise

Also, a strike in government run instutuions hits government well well. That's why they rush to settle.

LIke now, if TUC calls out civil servants on strike...governors, LG chairmen, even the president can't get anything done , or if they can, it won't be very effective.

Any Nigerian business that can hire an Indian guy to manage his workers will go far in the business environment.

They have a degree in handling most Nigerians.or better still an average Indian can handle the bad eggs amongst Nigerians.

If you have not hired and paid at least 20 Nigerian workers over a period of time . Abeg don’t quote me , this discussion is not for you.
Re: How Indian-owned Factories Are Using Nigerians As Modern-day Slaves – The Truth by iukpe: 12:38pm On Jul 22, 2025
Government cannot interfere with these things because.
1. They have been paid by these people before setup and they pay huge annual operational revenue heavily to government agents with the knowledge that these monies are not going to government wallet. So they are aware that the land is corrupt and just for surviving. They know nothing is authentic, just money, health permit, environmental assessment, workplace safety papers, even the staff declaration all is gotten at a price.
2. Government is not providing anything, they are paying for their facility protection, armed guards, community etc. The cheapest are their hired security guards who will be paid peanuts working more hours.
3. They generate their own electricity, provide water, transportation at scary cost. even getting around the city they have to pay to be safe from crime.

So how can they be nice to the workers from a country that is so dependent on what anyone can grab illegally.
