What's the meaning of "hinterland" pls?
TheNobleProphet:
For those speaking about "off road"; they miss the point because all countries of the world have such "off road" terrain in their deep hinterland!

can be described as "anywhere far away from main towns" or "rural areas far away from urban areas/cities".

When you tell Nigerians about places like this in the west, they think you lie.

I remember a place during the Biden administration that got electricity for the first time and they are not Amish ohh

I am not saying we should compete with the bad sides but we havw rural places all over the world

As a matter of fact auto makers who make cars called off-roads are not stupid.
They know they have roads like this.
They didn't make those cars for Africa
My brother when I landed in Paris the kind of dirt that greeted me, I thought I was in Oshodi. Dirty everywhere and street sellers and hawkers selling goods on the road and sidewalks like say na Balogun market person dey.

I have also seen the one with septic tanks those are evacuated regularly or treated, this one is not . Spent 5 years in that area never seen anyone evacuate so I doubt. The thing is that they have massive land . One person may lay claim to twenty hectares of land and the US government has no power over the the land ( they mostly have their governing body and tribal president, it’s like a jurisdiction under the U.S territory but subject to US protection)so they mostly do whatever they want .In fact , federal authorities can’t arrest anyone there without consulting the tribal authorities there.

When it’s morning I will call someone there and comfirm for sure if they evacuate or not .

This place resembles Itawure-aramoko road in ekiti state. That state is always unlucky with leaders. Only fayose tried on roads
wow,it was not like this during my service year. I served at Okemesi

I'm yoruba partially from akoko and ekiti, in Ijero local government, and i used to go home to see my mum until her passing last year. We had to pass okemesi to ikoro before getting to ijero due to bad road. But why do you guys always defend bad governance and you always think anyone who doesn't support you in this manner is a non-yoruba? Same applies to the ibos when you spot a bad thing that any of their governors is doing. Mr tribalistt, Nigeria can never move forward with this your mentality because you and I are the ones always bearing the brunt, not those you're defending blindlyy cos they don't live with us. Oyebanji comes from lagos once in a while, like fayemi did in his terms as governor. He only stays more in ekiti than fayemi. The earlier you decist from this mentality, the better for us all.

Apart from Lagos, where else is that infrastructure your mentors are developing? Had those governors before Sanwo-olu not stepped on toes and called the bluffs of tinubu, do you think they'd have done what you and I are seeing today? It almost cost fashola his 2nd term while ambode was removed cos he refused to give room for corruption but a good person will be remembered forever. Fayose can't be forgotten for road infrastructure in ekiti.

Is it ogun state roads that have turned death traps that you're calling infrastructure? Only Ondo fares just better on roads and thanks to akeredolu. Most of them are even getting bad again. I remember when I passed the akure-ondo-ore road last year. That axis isn't good at all.
Be proud of your roots, for once.

A Ghanaian working in the United States as an Amazon delivery driver has shared a video showing the condition of a rural road in the US — sparking widespread discussion on X.

The post attracted mixed reactions. Some users explained that this is typical of rural areas, noting that such roads are often quiet, with few residents, as they mostly lead to farmlands.

Others pointed out that roads like this can even be found in urban areas of some African countries — especially in Ghana, the driver's home country.

This is a lie. I live in Texas, and I have never come across such in my life. I have been to multiple states also. This stupid guy did not mention which state, which county, which village. Because he's lying and he knows that the internet is full of stupid people like himself who will believe him. That video is somewhere in Africa, particularly Ghana.

So I saw your reminder earlier just have been busy . Anyways, I called someone and asked , she said what normally happens is that they dig up somewhere for pit toilet and when it’s filled up they cover it up with a marker and move on to the next . But nowadays ( in the past 10-20years ) some people now use biodegradable method to treat the waste. But she just told now that pit toilet is still in use till today.

The pictures you see I actually took them myself as I lived in the area for years. Look at one of those pictures I attached, you will see a heap of sand behind the outhouse, now that same sand will be used to cover the pit when it’s full.

I know it’s surprising , the same way people living in NYC and Long Island don’t under why people should own guns. Well I worked in the police department in the same reservation where it takes almost 30 mins before a cop shows up in emergency. That’s why everyone needs a gun.

Hard to believe but since there’s limited access to their preservations, I really don’t know what to make of it.

You dey mind tribalists like AareGaa? Even in your hometown,I had gone to pray at the resting place of baba apostle ayo babalola once, with my brother. It's also baba alokan's hometown. I drove past his residence then. I'm deeply rooted in ekiti. Ma da won loun grin.
Sadly, their tribal bigotry hasn't taken them anywhere yet. So if we see the truth, we should be keeping quiet abi? All of us can't be the same. There's a faction of yoruba from a particular state who behaves like him, always hiding the truth . They're known sycophants. Ekiti and Ondo states aren't like that and that's why you had the courage to counter him. They're the problems of omo kaaro oojiire. They're everywhere here in Lagos.

I'm sure you have seen what the products of Ekiti and Ondo states had done as governors of lagos. These states' products proof their mettle everywhere they go. I'm talking of Ambode and BRF. They both worked hard in lagos and didn't agree with tinubu on terms considered to be heinous to the poor masses despite approving their governorship and he punished them for snubbing him. One escaped his whip, while the other didn't .

I have conscience as my moniker implies.
