This perfectly illustrates how alarmingly backward both the government and a significant portion of the population have become. While the rest of the world is aggressively investing in renewable energy, sustainability, and the technologies of the future, Nigerians are still clinging to petroleum like it’s a badge of honor. Instead of shifting focus to clean energy, research, and long-term economic diversification, we are busy promoting crude oil as if it's a national achievement. It's not only short-sighted — it's embarrassing. In a time when forward-thinking nations are discussing solar, wind, and hydrogen, we’re stuck in the past, proudly waving the flag of a dying industry. It’s no wonder progress feels like a distant dream.

Only in Nigeria do you find oil in the Niger Delta but build a College of Petroleum in Kaduna. That’s like planting mango trees in Benue and opening the fruit market in Sokoto. Genius-level stupidity! Maybe next they'll build a Marine Engineering school in the Sahara Desert. Who cares about logic when nepotism and tribal politics are the curriculum.

I hustle onboard ship and the maritime school @ Iron is full of these a.bokis who know next to nothing..from all over the north..they come out and are now officers onboard vessels operating on our waters.
From deck officers to engine room engineers,ab.okis everywhere!
We are now having them even in the galley department (kitchen).

It's a purely federal project. It was Yaradua that gave it the greatest impetus

Lol...and then they will use the moribund refinery for industrial training!...but of course this is Nigeria where we situate a steel rolling mill far from the source of raw material and then build a rail line to move it there, we build a refinery and build pipeline to move crude, we put an inland port in the north with no connection to it apart from dilapidated roads, we buit a transport university in the Daura.

Maybe you should advise oil-producing states to build instead, so students won’t have to rely on the one b proposed by the Kaduna government.

A very terrible situation I must say, they have taken over everything and that's why a talk of division sounds like a war to them.

The truth is that they see the oil and gas in the South as theirs hence they dominate every institutions or agencies about oil and gas.

Sadly enough, there is nothing the Niger Deltans can do about it, those who are supposed to rise against it are been given crumbs so their hands are tied.

1. The local content bill ensures that there should be adequate number of indigenous companies and experts to pilot the Nigerian petroleum industry but unfortunately, we lack the necessary skills and man power to achieve it.
Hence expatriates were hired to fill in the gaps and they are being paid in dollars,which leads to high forex losses 📉.
the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act, aims to increase indigenous participation in key sectors of the Nigerian economy, particularly in the oil and gas industry. The bill is designed to ensure that Nigerian companies and individuals are given priority in contracts, employment, and the provision of goods and services. It also promotes the development of local capacity and technology transfer.
2. It doesn't mean that other countries relies on expatriates to drive their petroleum industry then we should do same.
We are talking about unemployment,underemployment etc. This aimed at giving indigenous people the capacity to compete at the global stage and take over higher roles which ordinarily,the expatriates would have filled.
NB: that third question is more of biased, backward and unbelievable.
It's filled of backwards and inferiority complexity mindset.

Like I said earlier,it's not only a problem for the Niger Deltans but for the entire south.


The north has agricultural advantage somehow more than the south and they should focus on that and not on maritime and petroleum industry..it says a lot.
During buhari's era,the nnpc,ptdf,dpr,pppra,pppmc,NPA,nimasa,customs were all headed by northerners!

I can't recollect at the moment, the regime that put up that structures but definitely not Tinubu or Buhari. I was opportune to visit the project about two years ago and was so disappointed in the leadership of this nation. It was such a magnificent structures that has been abandoned to rotten away. The conference hall roof, furnitures etc is completely gone, the building in the op's writeup have most of us power equipment stolen/vandalized, the IT equipment is definitely obsolete apart from the fact that many things have been stolen. I saw some Cisco network switches that are still in carton.
Now if a govt decided to revamp such big dream in a bid to claim political point or credit, it's fine by me bro.

With no project or achievements to claim in Kaduna, they are now clutching at straws. All structural buildings in the college were long completed under previous governments. The accreditation process only got completed now but Tinubu is rushing to claim this one as his achievement as usual and will probably organise an elaborate commissioning ceremony and name the institution after himself. Project bandits and Achievement rustlers!
