Coalition Not About Atiku, Obi – ADC Spokesperson, Abdullahi by Bobloco(op): 10:26am On Jul 23, 2025
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has clarified that the ongoing coalition talks are not centered on any individual candidate, including Atiku Abubakar or Peter Obi, but focused on building a stronger alliance for Nigeria’s future.

The spokesperson of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, revealed this in an exclusive interview with DAILY POST on Tuesday.

“The coalition has nothing to do with either Peter Obi or Atiku. They are just members like many others. The focus is not on them. And of course, it is within anyone’s right to have political ambitions or to run for any position,” he said.

He added that although people may discuss presidential ambitions on social media, such conversations are not happening within the coalition itself.

When asked about the possibility of the party picking between the two popular politicians, Bolaji said: “The party cannot align with one person and still call itself a party, that’s what happened to most of the other parties in the past. We don’t have a preferred candidate. When the time comes, we’ll follow a democratic process and allow members to decide.”

He explained that the ADC is focused on building its structures and strengthening the party across Nigeria.

“Nobody is talking about a presidential candidate at the moment. Our focus is on growing the party.”

Speaking on how the ADC is working in northern Nigeria, Bolaji said many political leaders in the North who feel neglected by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are now part of the coalition.

“All the people who were in APC and are not happy with how things are going are in this coalition now. The majority of our leaders are from the North. The North knows it doesn’t want this APC government to continue because of how they’ve been treated.

“If you look back at the last two years and the way the government has made life hard, you’ll see that ADC is the only real alternative.”

He urged Nigerians to trust the party.

“The ruling party is punishing the people. ADC wants to free Nigerians from that suffering. No one wants to go through this again for another four years,” he concluded.

Any aspirant who would not submit theirself to the party's primaries should immediately resign and go try their luck somewhere else where they can be handed over the ticket on a platter.

Good one. Let democratic principles be your watchword. Don't get distracted by only presidential aspirants. Last Last, we go vote anyone you bring out instead of this misfortune we are enduring.

ADC is Atiku, Atiku is ADC. Atiku leads, we follow. Atiku/Obi 2027. APC should carry the political liability (Datti) . That one can't win his polling unit

Exactly what we need after a decade of extreme poverty and economic collapse by APC clueless leaders looters.

It’s time to restore our economy. It’s time to return to the PDP deregulation and privatisation capitalism era of abundance, prosperity, employment, productivity etc.

Who will take us there? How will we help him to take us back to PDP prosperity?

thisweekng:
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Chief Olawale Edun has said the last time Nigeria’s economy looked stable was about a decade ago.

He made this statement during his maiden press conference as Minister of Finance where he outlined President Bola Tinubu’s vision, agenda and strategy for the economy.

He said, “I think as we all know, we are not where we should be. The economy is barely growing above the rate of population growth.

“But it was not always so, and I think in trying to look at the way forward, if we now have a situation of slow growth, double-digit inflation, weak/depreciating exchange rate, as well as security concerns that are resulting in an economy that is not growing and not taking Nigerians out of poverty.

“If we think back to the last time when the economy was stable- when it was growing, when inflation was low, and the interest rate was affordable, that period was about a decade ago. Growth was about 6% in 2013 and 2014.”

What vote buying? Are you saying all primaries ever won in all parties were through vote buying? If that's the case, should primary elections be erased from our political process? Would you also demand that Tinubu removes vote buying from the general election?Remember, Peter Obi was a part of the coalition and kept hiding this fact until he was called out by David Hundeyin. He then confessed to being part of all meetings in the coalition from day one. Immediately, this fact became public, Obidients then sought to hijack the coalition, asking others to step down for Obi to be handed over the ticket. Obi should go form his own political party if he would not subject himself to ADC primaries. He doesn't own the coalition. No one singlehandedly does.

Are you talking about APC auction in 2015, which ebilokan used to make his fellow southerner Jonathan a one term president in favour of clueless northerner Buhari?

scribble:
The blogosphere was inundated with reports of the excessive sharing of dollars at the All Progressives Congress which took place during the latter part of last week.

One APC supporter and Special Adviser to Osun Governor on Environment, BolaIlori had blown the scandal open after he saw the beginning stages of the dollarization in action.

He took to his Facebook page and scribbled, “Crazy things are happening here!!! Some of these cannot represent the change Nigeria is yearning for. Excessive dollarization by one of the aspirants to is to say the least obscene. I have been involved in political process for decades now, I have never witnessed this volume of raw dollarization of party primaries. I only read about this kind of things in PDP primaries. A question been asked by conscientious delegates is that whoever can be giving out between $2000 to $5000 to…delegates certainly does not represent the kind of change Nigerians want…those who contributed to the pauperization of Nigeria now revel in dollarization… majority of Ondo delegates are still standing with Buhari but have been reduced from 85% to 70% within 24 hours…the remaining has gone with dollars ooo.!!!!!”

One has to wonder how Buhari was able to win the primaries in this era of stomach infrastructure where dollars are like the Biblical manna that God sent down from heaven to nourish the Israelites as they made their way to the promised land.

Sources close to the APC with knowledge of the way the Primaries unfolded have revealed that it was Rivers State Governor, Amaechi who flew back to Rivers State and returned to Lagos on Thursday morning with enough dollars to make Benjamin Franklin blush.

It has been revealed that Atiku offered the delegates $5000 each, but Amaechi doubled it to $10000 a pop. Thus turning the tables in favour of General Buhari.

Since his adventure into the APC, Amaechi has gone out of his way to prove himself a party loyalist, always the first to shoki or azonto at the many events the APC holds, which he himself is usually the chief sponsor.

According to party insiders, Amaechi has overtaken Tinubu as the major financier of the party. One does not need to wonder why he is always at President Jonathan’s throat over misappropriated oil wells or other such business. Anything that diminishes from the State’s coffers will have a ripple effect on his funding budget for the APC.

The thing is simple. If Peter Obi knows that he can't vice Atiku. He better not contesting because it will be waste of money, time and resources.

They will rig him out and highest obedient can do it to cry online. After that, nothing will happen.

Our goal in 2027 is to remove Apc from power. If obi can't do the needful. He need to get out now.

"There’s a good chance that the coalition can remove an underperforming government, but this must be predicated on certain factors. The coalition needs a candidate who has momentum, public appeal, and an organic following. Peter Obi has proven, without a doubt, from the numbers he amassed in the 2023 elections, that the people are invested in him."

It’s good to see the ADC focusing on unity and building structures rather than personal ambitions. Strengthening the party and offering an alternative for Nigerians is what matters most.

ADC - Atiku Development Company.

That's his new SPV or Pet project to actualize his already-failed ambition.

Did you read the interview properly? He said that all those that are not happy in APC are joining ADC. This means that ADC is coalition of annoyed people e.g. Amechi that ate manner from the plate of APC for 8 years is now against APC because of no manner for only two years. Such a person said that he wants to change Nigeria. Can I take such a person serious?

When it's time for election so many questions will be asked from key members of the coalition.
